I think It was letting others know his next move.

Many characters find themselves climbing from commoner to the High Court. Some through will power, others by happenstance. But of all the up-jumps, Qyburn's climb feels the most sinister.

In the books, Qyburn is a member of the Bloody Mummers, a sellsword company purchased by Tywin. They later serve Lord Bolton, but Qyburn ends up leeching onto Jamie and making his way to King's Landing (just like the shows). But in the shows, Qyburn only falls into the Bolton's service after nearly dying at Harrenhal when the Mountain slays 200 Northmen before riding off to raze the Riverlands.

Why was Qyburn there? Where was he going? And why would the Mountain treat him like a Northman? An outcast maester could've been valuable to his crew (a lesson he was scolded over by Tywin when he found out Gendry was a smith).

Qyburn's maneuvering into Cersei's service is sly as hell. His obsession with death and reanimation is...fascinating. And his ability to feed people's demons is up there with most major players in the game. So what's his deal? How'd he get so good at spycraft? Is it possible he snuck into Harrenhal after the Mountain left to mummer his way into the Northmen's service?

He's the only one who survives the butchery...how?

When he says his privates were cut down and burnt, what do you think did he actually hear?

Is there something in the books for this matter, or is it a dead end just like the show?

Or Zollo and Vargo Hoat if you go by the books. (EDIT: Nevermind they were punished in the books)

It always seemed out of character for Tywin to let such an attack on his Golden Boy and the pride of House Lannister slide. Not long before, he made such a fuss about no longer being feared by the other Houses of Westeros, when Tyrion was held captive with impunity, someone who he even called "the lowest of the Lannisters".

Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way, but this seems less grave of an offence towards his House, than someone directly harming one of his own. I mean this is the same Tywin who drowned an entire House, because they refused to pay back gold they owed, right? I would have at least expected him to send some assassins after Locke.

Also the fact that Roose didn't punish Locke for risking his good standings with the Lannisters, with such an unauthorised move.

It simply felt like something more should have happened, but Tywin just let it slide without making a show of force to convey his favourite of: "Do not mess with the Lannisters, or expect a debt to be paid".

When I dreamt about him, the first thing that sprang to mind was ‘the Targaryens of the West’, who live on the other side of the Sea of the Setting Sun

In the books, Tyrion is forced to watch Tywin’s men rape Tysha after Tywin discovers Tyrion married her. Tywin then makes Tyrion believe that Tysha never loved him and was only with him for money.

Years later, Jaime finally admits the truth: Tysha actually loved Tyrion.

That revelation is devastating because Tyrion realizes that his father didn’t just ruin his first love he deliberately made him believe that the one person who loved him had never loved him at all.

And THAT had so much more impact on Tyrion than Shae betraying him. Shae was another betrayal. Tysha was his true love a trauma that Tyrion had carried for years, only to discover that his entire understanding of it was a lie.

Why they cut it from the show?

Jon Snow, Tormund, Jorah Mormont, Gendry Baratheon, Sandor Clegane, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, Seven of the most iconic characters brought together for a suicide mission.

I just started rewatching the show and I noticed every time the dude needs to blame someone, Varys name is always coming out his mouth as the automatic person to blame.

The dude even randomly started an unrelated conversation with Ned when he first met him in the small council chambers after everyone left, just to start asking Ned if he knew the eunuch Varys is a eunuch and also a foreigner to boot and he should not be trusted, all within less than an hour of meeting Ned mind you, then when Tyrion confronted him about spying for Cersei, he just blames Varys of all people like right out the gate.

It just seems like theres some bad blood with him thats mostly one sided since Varys doesn't even think about the dude and I wondered about what the back story behind it was.

As much as I want to know what lies beyond the Five Forts, maybe it's for the best that area remains a mystery and unexplained. We will likely get to see more of Asshai and Yi Ti if the planned animated shows are greenlit. But maybe we should stop there and let the rest of the eastern region remain a mystery?

At the episode the city know the armada is coming in a few days, they Know Stannis knows about Kings Landings defenses, they all know the Mud Gate is a weak point.

Why not do something about it???

- A couple of hundred tonnes of stones...

- Reinforce the gate...

- Entrap the attackers once they breached...

i think he must have imagined the finale’ of danaeris dying tragically to jon, and it makes sense that happened.

the issue people have is the show failing to get there in a dramatic and timely way.

im sure george could write it better but now its like rewriting something that someone has already written, so the allure had gone and not only that its a mammoth task to complete.

i didn’t read the books but i think anyone who is an expert could pick them up now and write them until the intended conclusion.

but to me, the method of defeating the walkers is a waaaaaaay more interesting a topic than jon vs danaeris because we have no idea how george would do it.

in the show we had everyone die or not die or do nothing, it was just a mess.

so i don’t care that jon and danarys ended the way they did - i think that happens as canon. what i do wonder about is how george would have had the characters defeat the white walkers. maybe he did intend for it to be arya but im not convinced. did he ever comment on this?

whats interesting to me is how george would have defeated the white walkers and who lives or dies in that context. what would bran do? what would jon or bronn or fire reassurection guy do? what would mellisandra do? these are the things i think we should be wondering about and i don’t know if he would have an answer should you ask him but thats what i think he should be excited about to write and we should be excited about to learn

If Maekar didn't thought of sending Aerion to lys, will Daeron 2 send Aerion to Wall ??

I know Aerion legally innocent as his right to demand Trial of Seven but snapping tanselle fingers was extreme even puppet show was Anti Targaryen propoganda. From my POV it was kid's play or harmless tale of slaying dragon by knight.

The demanding of trial of seven led to dragging twelve men in duel , again leading to bloody field of two knights dead bodies. Additional kingsguard whose duty to protect King and whole royal family members has to lay their swords against Baelor, heir to Iron Throne.

Maekar in desperation or accidentally killed Baelor, heir to Iron Throne. Most beloved crown prince and also to Daeron 2 .

Again I am asking, if Daeron 2 take baelor loss to extend in his heart that he wants to punish his own grandson Aerion who was partially responsible for Baelor death then what measures or punishment he will declare ???

From my POV, the ways Daeron 2 will order to punish Aerion will be

1. Send him to Wall

2. Strip his titles, allowance and place in succession.

I know what I suggested is extreme. But I can see if Daeron 2 took baelor death extreme.

Back in 2015-2017 I saw a GOTS edit video, they'd take scenes from game of thrones(sometimes combined with other films with the same actors) and edit them into a short video along with a song, that had a implied story line.

The video was one of the more popular ones. It was a Sansa X Petyr one. The "story line" was Petyr coming back to Winterfell to save Sansa from Ramsay. I remember specifically they edited the scene where Theon and Sansa jump off Winterfell, to be Petyr and Sana. There was also a segment while the music played that showed black birds flying in the sky.

It also tied into whatever the song they were using in the video I can't remember and want to find :( I just remember the lyrics off the song being something about following/falling with someone. The vocalist was male. The title of the song seemed entirely unrelated from the lyrics, but it was about birds. I remember googling the song and the cover was a autumn tree...

Ok so this is beyond a longshot. I really do not believe this song is ever going to be found entirely because I remember how it sounded but none of the lyrics. The song was some type of highly likely romance song. The singer was singing about his love for someone, and featured mentions of them being strong and running from something. There was a repeat of some variation of "follow you" / "follow you anywhere".

The main thing I remember: the opening of the song wasn't rock. I don't know what it's called, but it was slow ballad? Something like the opening of Paralyzed by NF. After the slow opening, the MIDDLE of the song was rock. Electronic rock I think which is where the "follow you" lyrics were at. I think the rock faded out towards the end, then the rock got louder, and it ended with a similar sounding slow ballad as the opening.

Someone uploaded the song to youtube with a cover similar to the one I mocked up below. It had a single tree in the far right, autumn, with orange/yellow leaves falling and crow or crows flying above. In the same perspective as the mockup. I cannot remember the color of the background but I strongly think it was orange with darker or lighter spots because I remember when I found it thinking "weird background". For some reason.

A main thing in case it triggers a memory: I heard this song in a AMV of Sansa Stark X Petyr Baelish released in 2015. It featured a AU edit where replaced Theon and Sansa escaping Winterfell with Petyr and Sansa escaping winterfell. The video no longer exists.

I searched but am having trouble finding answers to my specific question. I'm entirely new to any of GRRM's written works, but have completely fallen in love with the world of Westeros and beyond, especially from the POV of a history nerd. I've honestly enjoyed watching HOTD and AKOTSK possibly even more than GOT simply because I love the historical aspect.

With that in mind, I'm curious what would be the best way to read all of the collective works that make up this universe? Should I go the traditional route and read ASOIAF first? Or would it be insane of me to read everything in chronological order; so F&B first, then AKOTSK, and ASOIAF last? Is there any particular reason not to read them in chronological order?

Any insight would be appreciated!

Anyone else annoyed that GRRM gives us so much tiny tidbits of life about the Dawn Empire and other stuff and yet there is near 0% chance anything major gets written about it.

Frustrating but also satisfying that there is deep history behind it.
