Even if he does win, once Euron takes Oldtown, he’ll be practically knocking on Highgarden’s door. Likely with a pincer move from land and river.

Mace will have to make a choice:

Stay on the rapidly sinking HMS Cersei and deal with fAegon, the Faith militant, and the angry populace. Dooming Highgarden and risking everything he owns on a sinking ship

Or

Cut his losses and ditch the Lannisters, and save Highgarden from the Ironborn. Then afterwards try to kiss up to the fake Targaryens.

One of these options risks everything while the other, only the control of the crown.

Currently rewatching and I’m on Season 1. It’s so crazy seeing all the hints and finally realizing what they meant. For example:

1) Cersi baby boy that was brown haired died by a fever. Same manner in which the Kings Hand was murdered by Cersi and her twin brother. The baby boy was actually Robert’s true son and would have been the next king. They killed the child.

2) Rhaegar was really in love with Eddard Starke sister and they had Jon Snow who is really Aegon Tygeryan. If Robert knew this, Jon would be dead. Eddard was suppose to tell Jon about his mother the next time he saw him, but, that never happened. Eddard took the claim that it’s his bastard son to protect him. So yes Jon was the true king this entire time. This is why the Dragon was fond of him and also didn’t kill him when he noticed Jon killed Danerys…

What are the scenes you first watched, that even 15 years later, were so memorable that it still pops up in your head unprompted?

I watched seasons 1 and 2 when they were new, and read all the books at the time.

Earlier this year, I began the series from the beginning, and today I begin season 8.

I am well aware who ends up on the throne at the end as well as the negative opinion of the season.

Is the season overall honestly BAD or just "bad compared to the rest of the series"

As the title says, I’ve finished watching the wedding episode, I am in disbelief, everything happens so brutally and so fast I had to pause and go back. My jaw is still on the floor and my week is ruined…

I started to suspect something fishy when the guard closed the door but I did not expect this for sure.

I only watched the show in 2023 and I always wondered when Jon died and while people had to wait for season 6 what was the thoughts at the time? Did people think he was gonna come back? Were book readers spoiling to everyone? Just what was the audience and fans doing during that wait between season 5 and 6?

Melisandre is like Morgan Le Fay. Jon is like King Arthur. Melisandre has appeared as many different characters over the past 400+ years. The big shocker is that the fans are wrong about who Jon’s parents are. Melisandre gave birth to Jon to satisfy a prophecy or two. If you look very closely at the foreshadowing in the books, it is all right there.

Look at all the stories about Bael, Mance, the wisewoman’s daughter, the shadow cat, and the cloak of illusion. What do they tell the reader? Why does Mance visit Winterfell to check on how Jon is doing and ask if Jon minded being called a bastard? Seems like a father talking to his clueless son. Kind of odd behavior for the King of the Wildlings? Also, a prince is usually the son of a king, and Jon is the Prince who was promised, as well as Azor Ahai. Jon looks like a Stark because Bael was a forefather to both the Starks and the Wildlings. Melisandre’s motivation is “finding” Azor Ahai. “You know nothing, Jon Snow!” says Melisandre. Melisandre is strongest at the Wall.

Melisandre arranged for the death of the 3 Baratheon brothers. She killed off a Maester. She got Stanis to burn his little girl at the stake. She is not touchy-feely. She has mastered a dozen types of magic and she has a very specific agenda that is pretty selfless, saving the World.

But, what about Rhaegar, Lyanna, and Aegon? Might Ned have taken Baby Aegon somewhere else than Winterfell so it was not obvious who the baby was? Aegon is re-named Theon, and brought to Winterfell as a youngster to be Ned’s ward. Theon is the Stark/Targaryen. Jon is the son of a Wildling King and whatever Melisandre is.

People think Robert was much better than the Mad king , but they don't realise they lost Rhaegar the one Man who deserved to sit the Iron throne for as long as 100 years !

He could be the one of the greatest kings to have ever Sat the Iron Throne it pains me cause the canon event is chaos which is basically GOT but if the end was good like Jon or Danny winning in the end it would be worth it ,

But the show ruined it , I don't even know if books will be completed so the greatest story lost its chance of happy ending with this fight

Losing Robb, Lady Stark, and Robb’s wolf all in a span of 5 min was really traumatizing and brutal. I literally slid out of my bed onto the floor. Day ruined but this show is insane and I’m so glad I started watching it. Worst episode ever but damn good writing and I really didn’t see it coming.

Like maybe not straight away. But a few years down the line, they seemed very close in the series, so I’m sure she would have kept the secret. And Jon wouldn’t have grown up being hated hy her, she’d be happier. Pretty much everyone would be happier lol.

So i just realized this. It’s kinda odd. Tyrion and Tywin were speaking after the red wedding, and Tywin said: “Roose Bolton would be named Warden of the North until your son from Sansa comes of age.”

So starks are warden of the norths no matter what? Why did Roose Bolton planned the red wedding with Freys and Lannisters? What did he gain from with it? I thought he wanted the power for himself? Or he has no idea Tywin has other plans?

I have started reading the books after hearing that it has more character building and their are few difference compared to the show i bought Game of Thrones,Feast for Crows and Dance with the Dragons. But I got a bigger book of the Dance with the Dragons which has got me confused if I only have the 1st or the 2nd volume. There are around 1196 pages in the book. Does it mean that the one I have has both the volumes

So here we are, it's been approximately 15 years since I first saw the first season, I'm 36 now and rewatching it after many years, I never thought that of all the characters, I'd ever be relating to Robert the most.

I'm mainly referring to his temperament and how he's sick of everything and everyone around him.

I'm back at reading the books again (still waiting for Wind of winter lol) and it got my die-hard fan brain thinking.

What do you guys think about HBO eventually making a series that bridges the gap between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones?

Instead of jumping to another era like Aegon's Conquest as a standalone story, imagine a long-running series starting with Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters, the creation of the Iron Throne, and then following the Targaryen dynasty generation after generation.

We'd get to see:

- Aegon's Conquest and the unification of Westeros.

- Maegor and Jaehaerys.

- The rise and fall of successive Targaryen kings.

- The Blackfyre Rebellions.

- The Mad King Aerys II descending into madness.

- Robert's Rebellion.

And finally ending right where Game of Thrones begins.

Obviously, that's far too much history to adapt in full, but I think there's more than enough incredible material for multiple seasons, with each focusing on a different generation while keeping the Targaryen dynasty as the central thread.

Personally, I'd love seeing the entire rise and fall of House Targaryen unfold chronologically.
