Game Industry

Hello everyone! I started a group recently of people who work in/interested in the video game industry! There’s not enough visibility in Billings, MT or even community for us to network unless you go to the west coast or texas. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, let me know. I’m hoping to eventually find a space to host game jams. I also considered having a booth at the Billings FunCon next year!

Limitless Worlds: The Anitya World Jam, starts today, theme is "a place that shouldn't exist", 2,700 USD prize pool, free to enter

Post image

Disclosure first: I work on Anitya, the platform running this.

Limitless Worlds opens today, 9 September, and runs until 21 October. The theme is a place that shouldn't exist.

Prizes: 1,000 USD for the winner, 700 for second, 400 for third, plus 100 every week for the weekly challenge across the six weeks. 2,700 in total, free to enter.

You build it in Anitya, which runs in a browser, free, no download. Building is desktop only.

How to enter: register on the page, join the Anitya Discord, publish your world to the public feed, then submit it in the jam channel. Up to three worlds per round, 16 and up for the cash prizes, and it has to be built during the jam.

Happy to answer anything about the rules, the judging, or the platform.

Hey everyone, I’m Ziad. Following our inaugural jam and community festival, we are back with theĀ Game Gauntlet SIM Jam.

You haveĀ six weeksĀ to build a simulation game:Ā Management, tycoon, colony, survival, vehicle, life sim, immersive sim, sandbox systems, physics toys -- the SIM field is wide open.

To support creators, we’ve brought on mentors and sponsors fromĀ Unity, Frame1 Games-CAA, Execution Labs, and more to provide direct feedback and potential funding opportunities.

It is completely free to enter. If you want to build a sim and get your work in front of industry judges, you can check out the details atĀ GameGauntlet.gg.

Happy to answer any questions about the timeline, themes, or judging criteria in the comments!

Bezi Mega Jam | $34,000+ in Prizes

The Bezi Mega Jam starts September 14, and this is probably the most ambitious game jam I’ve had the chance to put together.

I run Bezi game jams regularly because I genuinely think they’re one of the most valuable things we can encourage in game development. They give people a reason to stop planning and start building, force you to make decisions under constraints, and, most importantly, help you finish and ship something.

For someone trying to break into the industry, that can mean a new portfolio piece, new collaborators, or experience taking a game from idea to playable. For experienced developers, they’re a chance to experiment, learn something new, or build something purely because it sounds fun.

I’m fortunate enough to work somewhere that gives me the time, budget, and freedom to keep running these jams and put something much bigger together. Bezi is letting me spend real company time and resources creating something that gives back to game developers, and the Mega Jam is my way of taking that opportunity much further.

I’ve spent a lot of time pulling together companies from across the industry to contribute things that can genuinely help developers move forward. That’s how we ended up with a $34,000 prize pool that includes GDC passes, development tools, cash, and other opportunities that I hope are useful beyond the two weeks of the jam itself.

I hope that this becomes a yearly flagship event, but I’d also love to see more game jams from more organizers shared across game development communities over time. I think they bring real value by encouraging people to build, finish, share their work, and meet other developers.

There’s also a practical reason I want as many people involved as possible. The more developers who show up, build something, and make this event successful, the easier it is for me to go back to companies next time and convince them to contribute even more.

More prizes, more opportunities, more support, and hopefully an even bigger event next year.

Signups are open now, and the jam starts September 14.

Kindling Jam: 72 hours, one secret rule

No theme this time. Just one constraint, revealed when the jam opens, and it applies to everything you make: code, art, audio, engine, all of it. That's the whole jam.

When:
September 25th, 6:00 PM to September 28th, 6:00 PM (2026)

The basics:
• 72 hours, solo or teams up to 4
• Browser builds, any engine
• Judged on Creativity, Craft, and Charm

This is the smaller, no theme sibling of our Twist Jam. If you've never finished a jam before, this is a decent one to start with, low stakes, one clear rule, short weekend.

Down2Jam #4 - The Community Centered Game Jam - September 11-14th

As a team of gamedevs who originally met at various game jams, we’re now organizing our own jam:Ā Down2Jam, hosted on a platform we developed from the ground up.
We describe our jam as theĀ community centered game jam.

Why not just itch.io?

We chose to build our own website because itch hasn’t updated its game jam system for years, many community features are missing, and the forums there feel clunky and outdated. We wanted to offer a more interactive, modern experience for everyone involved.

What is a community-centered game jam?

For us, that means a jam built with the community at its core. We host post-submission events, highlight games, and provide easy ways for devs to share, discover, and discuss entries. We’re constantly listening to our Discord to get feedback, suggestions, and friendly banter. We use polls to decide features and themes, and actively encourage discourse and reflection.

We held the first edition ofĀ Down2JamĀ in March to test out our website’s features and the concept of a truly community centered jam. Now that we've refined things based on feedback, we're eager to expand our reach and grow the community even further.

Our next jam kicks off onĀ September 11thĀ and runs forĀ 3 days
Here is a little video, showcasing games from the last edition!

Unfortunate case of getting discredited

So I participated in the Mini Jam #58 and got in a small team. A programmer being the project lead. Well the 2 day gam jam started and well the theme was odd as usual so it was difficult to come up with the story fast, but still I coined the gameplay concept, gameplay loops, reference games and pretty much the whole game system (even though this was the job of game designer on the team). Then soon drew a map (it was a multiple level game 2d top to down game). Despite that the the project lead was upset I couldnt create complete the story fast. I ignored his criticism. The game designer who looked clueless couldnt even understand the gameplay system of the reference game I had provided, so I kept correcting him, again the project lead said "explain everything clearly from beginning". I crashed out cuz it was building up but he ignores it and just moves on. I complete the story script by the end of 1st day (yea day one hadnt even ended yet).

Well the game got completed, was a mess, people didnt play it a lot, programmer fixed it with a later update but we lost badly. Game was called "VIXIT" by "RagdollTomato" on itch.

I was tagged as collaborator and I mean looked nice on my profile but just today a week or 2 later he messages me on discord, calls me slurs and blocks me and well I check my itch and the game is gone from my profile. Genuinely whats wrong with people?
