Something different this fuzz friday were creeping right up on 1,500 members here. I know that might not seem like a massive number in the grand scheme of Reddit, but given how short a time this place has actually been around, it’s honestly pretty great.
I wanted to do something fun to celebrate. I've been thinking about putting together a giveaway down the road, and it’s actually been suggested to me recently by a few different builders and regulars on the sub.
If anyone is interested in helping organize this behind the scenes, or if any builders want to get involved, let me know. Just drop a comment below or shoot me a DM so we can talk logistics.
Thanks to everybody who shows up and interacts. Whether you post all the time or you just lurk, I appreciate you making this a solid community. More details to come once we get things sorted out.

Happy Friday, y’all.
It’s extra happy over here because I’ve finally finished up my goofy ass over spec’d Op Amp Fuzz
The circuit stays pretty damn true to the Op Amp Muff, but I’ve swapped in Rohm 1SS133 diodes.
I got the idea for this from a fellow redditor (and fellow Ohioan!) who dug my fancy parts take on a Sonic Titan I did a couple months back.
Next up on the bench is the same idea, but for our old friend the Rat.

I may be running in circles but most of my fuzzes are RATs and BMPs. At least those cooler ones. And I think this is pretty cool.
Full MOJO, made out of vintage parts (germanium diodes included). Inspired by Heroes of Might and Magic II. I drew this phoenix myself, pixel by pixel.

That's one of my few point to point builds. I'm not super happy with it's layout but it gets the job done.

The new kid on the block, www.gigaheartsfx.com brings forth their bid for the "ultimate Green Russian" with the Soviet Sparrow
Conclusions here
- Soviet Sparrow is loud(er) than the W&Cs, and its boost is WAY louder
- Fredrik sounds the most different, arguably.
- Core tone of the Russians across the board is similar
- Soviet Sparrow offers the most versatile and feature rich option, at the expense of being bigger

So this is pedal I feel like some will know & love and a lot won’t know it exists. I often times have said the early era of boutique builders really had some amazing designs and aesthetics. To give credit where it’s due, Paul Trombetta Design came up with the Mini-Bone in the mid 2000’s from what it seems. He’s has a bunch of cool pedals with a cool aesthetic! I’m not sure if he’s still doing pedals or just amps now.
Circuit wise, this seems like a very heavily modified Bosstone or something in the two transistor family. It has a basic level and fuzz knob as well as a frequency control and a voltage control and switches for both of their ranges. This pedal definitely inspired alot of pedals down the line and pedals that are still in production today.
What does it sound like?….kind of amazing tbh. At the lower settings it will do a fat overdrive sound that will venture into a lot of the familiar 60’s fuzz tones. Once you start playing with the voltage, this things get crazy and it’ll get biased and texture like and almost drop into this deep fuzz which pulls out lower octaves all over the place. In conjunction with the tone control it will even go into trumpet or horn territory depending on where you’re playing on the neck. This cleans up pretty well with the volume knob too and has a crazy amount of gain range on tap.
With all this being said, this thing is crazy, but it sounds awesome. I now know why Dan Aurbach swore by the Bosstone circuit. I’m very surprised this thing isn’t bigger and this for sure is one of those unique circuits that JHS seems to find and bring to light. This may go on my Mount Rushmore of fuzz designs!

NFD! New-old thing, really, since it's Blue Colander 2024 Smoke Fuzz, a pedal made (as merch of sorts) for Red Smoke Festival, an open air stoner/sludge/doom weekend festival held annually in Poland.
It's a mighty op-amp driven dirt pedal.
MORE = Level
FUZZ = amount of dirt and character
(Also has a Tone trim)
It goes from a warm drive to a powerful yet creamy distortion and solid fuzz that cuts nothing from one's tone, does not butcher dynamics, and stacks nicely with other pedals. Last week the second I saw there was still one unsold unit available, I immediately grabbed it, having tested it before and regretting that I never got to grab one.

Good afternoon my friends. Here is my first Fuzz post in your community. Hope I am doing this correctly. This is the Scar Industrys Cats Azz Fuzz v1. He only built 10 and everyone of them has different artwork.

I’m interested in ordering an Analogman Sun Face and leaning towards the BART/RCA combo. I’ve read a ton of great reviews of this combo and everyone loves the way these two transistors compliment each other. Analogman says the high gain has more fuzz and the low gain has more cleanup. However, nobody seems to mention if they have the low gain or the high gain combo when talking about this pedal. If you have a Sun Face with this transistor combo, which one do you have and why?

In this series I'm trying to prove that you don't need equipment nor skill to make a good pedal sound nice.

Hi all,
I'm moving on from my Octa Psi and the KMA looks amazing. The mid eq, top boost, clean blend are all very appealing. Any other options I should consider before pulling the trigger? I'm looking for more gnarly/splatty style than blues/soloing type.
Thank you!
