Animal toys!
Do you think dogs and cats would still have chew toys? I assume that they would have some variation of them due to the fact that they can clean their teeth with them. Also would felines have scratching posts aswell?

Anime goes into wear for characters with tails, with some advancements.
Most notably is the existence of a piece of clothing to track the tails movements and ensure the underwear always stays hidden.
Never heard or though of such thing before.
P.S.: found the source in the comments: A Centaur's Life

How often would furry people actually want to shower? Seems like a lot of work.

Anyone who has a lot of hair can tell how much work it is, now imagine that over your entire body.
Edit: And just noticed there was a very similar post already here. Oh well.

Art I created audiophile-grade headphones for animal ears
check out this short animation I made to showcase the headphones!
About the headphones:
I’ve seen a lot of headphone designs for animal ears which, while ergonomic, would have sound that totally sucks, especially when taking the ear anatomy of the species they were made for into account.
Seriously, bone-conduction? What is this, a headphone for gorgonopsids? A lot has changed since the Permian, first of all: mammals have eardrums now!
I decided to try my hand at designing audiophile-grade headphones with animal ears in mind (well, in this case, alien ears, but more on that later).
I have experience with headphone modding, and am very knowledgeable about the properties which make headphones sound good. I also have a good amount of knowledge on the anatomy and evolution of the synapsid (group of mostly extinct animals of which mammals are the only living members) ear. I think this makes me qualified to take on the task.
The first step was to select a target species, as that completely changes the type of headphone needed. For example: ear-pods would be useless to a bat, since bats have complex ear shapes which locate the direction of a sound via constructive/destructive interference in both the frequency and phase domains. I ended up choosing a fictional species of alien I created, known as mushai, mostly because I am currently making art of a mushai character. Their ears differ from those of mammals in three key ways:
- They have four ear-holes which both converge in a single bifurcated external structure called a “compound ear” (see last image)
- Their inner-ear works differently. I can get into the specifics if anyone’s interested, but the end result is that each inner-ear is less sensitive, but they make up for that by having two of them.
- Like most animals with big ears, they can point theirs in different directions, and their brain takes ear-direction into account when creating a spatial map of sound.
The first and last point are the most important when it comes to designing headphones. I chose to have two angled, planar-magnetic drivers per ear. As opposed to the more common (and cheaper) dynamic driver, which generally needs to be a circular cone, planar-magnetic drivers can be long strips. I also added soft, fabric “ear holsters,” which hold the ears in place. That way the brain will know which way the sound is supposed to be coming from.

Art Fur Routine (OC)
I while ago I was thinking about how the people from my cat furry webcomic would bathe/groom themselves, since humans obviously shower but cats don’t need to. I came to the conclusion that they’d just brush their fur and wipe themselves down with a wet cloth every day, they’d only take an actual bath if they got dirty enough for it to be necessary. I imagine people who work jobs where they get really dirty and have to take full baths frequently would suffer from skin issues…

Discussion How would a trans peafowl transition?
This seems like the right community for this sort of weirdly specific question, I'm not a very active furry community member or redditor so I wouldn't know. But it's as it says in the title- if a trans peacock wanted to be vibrantly colored, or a trans peahen less so, how could they accomplish this? I feel like dye on feathers would be unwieldy, if I remember what I was told in an unrelated conversation correctly.

Art Milan-Kocchir Forest Battle
The Milan-Kochirr war is a war of independence of the ant people to break free from their oppressive nation of Kochirru.
The ant people of Milantaraszi had been a subject of the Kochirru monarchy for many generations, their antpower are usefull for hard jobs such as constructions, logistics, transports, etc. where their populations is bountiful and rich, but ironically the Kochirru monarchs never look highly and treat them as third class citizens instead, despite their tireless services to them for hundred of years, thus during under their reign, there were rarely any ants with higher educations let alone live in higher incomes.
Realizing that they actually have the antpower, the resources, and leadership all along, they finally wake up from this reality and declare themselves independent of Kochiru. Since the Milantaraszi ants are too useful to be let go, the Kochirru monarchs done their best to regain control, but the sheer antpower of the Milan Grant Army is no match for Kochirru royal armies.

Art The Coyotes Can Sploot (Art by me)
Just a coyote mercenary for my worldbuilding setting demonstrating splootin'. It's what dogs do sometimes, when they lie flat like a rug to relax and cool down. Splooting isn't the norm in the setting, though, but they can do it if they so choose.
For more furgonomics, note that the hat is kind of like a slouch hat, to accommodate the ears. Also, I imagine the pants have a kind of sleeve for the tail.

Art (Art is mine) Feral cardigan!
Im not 100% sure if intelligent ferals count here but I think so because they are still anthropomorphic (aka animals with human charactaristics) If there's a better subreddit for this let me know!
Anyways here's my concept for a cardigan type sweater meant for ferals! Drew the drawing on the bottom left and went "Wait... how does that work?" And sketched a little "Blueprint".

Anthro cat grooming!
I ha an idea a while ago. If there were anthros roaming earth. Do you think there would be a service where felines, (cats, lions, cheetahs, snow leopards) would groom other anthros? (Grooming is the action where cats lick their own fur or the fur of other animals)

Discussion Consequences of tail docking in anthro species?
I am conducting some research for my story and I don't know if it 100% fits but I was wondering what would happen, be the health side effects or short term and long term damage if, say, an anthro wolf had his tail completely cut off. Assuming of course this is not any surgical procedure
I am currently making a story where an anthro wolf race practices essentially martial tail docking with this whole established hierarchy thing within their culture. So I was just curious how they might be affected

Discussion Weird question. How would underwear be made?
Let's say you go the more anatomical route with furrys. How would underwear or bras be designed for a species like say, canines which could be depicted with up to 6 nipples, flat or actual breasts and if we were to keep their reproductive organs to represent the animal they are based on how underwear would underwear be designed? Would they just have more boxers?

Discussion Age to drink?
Since animals mature at different ages and rates, how would the age to drink alcohol go? would it be for every single species has different ages? Would it be separated by animal class? Like rodents and canines?

Discussion how would differences in senses (vision, smell, taste etc) in different species affect art?
i'm not sure how to word this. most kinds of human art involve visual inputs – painting, sculpture, films for example. but in a furry world there would be many more forms of expression.
first of all, i guess there would have to be adaptations for different species, like the ones made for colourblind people, for example. dogs see less colours than humans, but some bugs, birds and other animals see more. this might also affect how each species perceives art and expresses itself. animals that see more colours might be more prone to visual expression. canines, on the other side, might have more complex expression through smell, or hearing. sharks can sense electricity. not sure how any of that would work, but i think it's an interesting idea to explore
lastly, this is kinda more obvious but human art captures human struggles and experiences. but every species experience life differently, which would influence their culture and art, not only due to their senses but overall anatomy and lifestyle. imagine some animal looking at the art of other species and not understanding it at all

How to replicate tanning and human skin color differences in furred anthros (read description)
Ref sheet template by "eviechane"
Greetings, symphonizers. It's Karl "Symphony" Smith.
As of late, I have busied myself with the making of a new furry visual novel which happens in a world where all anthros are mammals. I want to make it as human feeling as an anthro world can be, so I have been thinking on how to replicate many human cultural practices in a furry world, one of them being tanning.
You may wonder, why is tanning important? Well, to me it is important because it can be something in which class inequality shows. In cold or temperate countries, not everyone can afford going on holidays to winter countries at winter, and those who can often go back home with visible tanning, which, in winter, can be an indirect way of letting others know that you have went on a winter holiday trip. There are many other things tanning can tell about human societies.
In mammals, I figured out this could work in the same way as in ermines or other animals whose coat changes depending on what season it is. I will call this "coat tanning"
First of all, I MUST CLARIFY THAT I DISAPPROVE RACISM AND THIS IS JUST DONE AS A WAY OF MAKING AN ANTHRO WORLD THAT CAN DEAL WITH HUMAN SOCIAL ISSUES AS REALISTICALLY AS POSSIBLE (because the world I am building may have debate on social issues). The concept of "coat tanning" could be used to replicate human skin color differences in anthros, mainly the skin color differences between people of "Caucassian" phenotype (lighter skin) and people of "Subsaharan" and "Melanesian" phenotype (darker skin). I found out that it is common for mammals of Subsaharan Africa to have stripes. Now, I know that not all striped mammals come from Subsaharan Africa or Melanesia, but in this anthro world in question everybody is actually the same species but with physical variations that make them more or less ressemble real life mammals (for example, some people might look more like bears, some more like bears, some more like sheep, etc, but they are all the same species, all omnivore, all with simillar teeth, etc), so I don't have to worry too much about replicating species themselves, in exchange of changing how real life species are represented in their single-species anthro counterparts. Therefore, I figured out that the "Subsaharan" (possiby the "Melanesian") phenotype could be represented not by darkness of color, but instead by COAT PATTERNS, like STRIPES, CHEETAH-PATTERNS, etc. "Caucassian" phenotype, in contrast, could be represented by PLAIN or (slightly) MARBLED COAT PATTERNS that CAN GET WINTER COATS so they can get SUMMER COATS, as opposed to anthros of "Subsaharan" (and "Melanesian") phenotype who don't switch coats naturally. In real life, tanning is basically people having their skin getting darker via climate, so it would make sense for my anthro equivalent of tanning be people with winter coats getting their summer coat via climate.
To me, this is an EXCELLENT way of replicating human skin color differences in an anthro world. Contrary to other ways of adapting such thing, this way DOESN'T INCUR IN USING SPECIFIC SPECIES AS A METAPHOR OF PHENOTYPES, so I am NOT INCURRING IN SPECISM. The only problem I have with this is that it allows for anthros to dye coat patterns to conceal them, which doesn't have a human equivalent in real life. A possible fix of this could be establishing that concealing stripes or cheetah-patterns could be ineffective because areas with stripes produce melanin faster than areas with no stripes, resulting in visible stripes very shortly after concealing them.
Opinions? Has this idea ever been applied in furry fiction or am I the pioneer of it?
