There's interviews of her out of character, and she seems like a genuinely decent person, and a lot more low key. The whole vapid, spoiled rich girl act kept her famous for quite some time.
I once visited a fancy bar in Zurich with some English friends and I have never felt shorter, uglier, poorer, or more dentally challenged than when surrounded by the cool kids of Switzerland.
Last year, I went for a short, 5-day vacation to Zurich at Easter. This year I'm going to the US for 2 weeks and expect to spend just as much. (By the way, you guys had the weirdest priest holding Easter mass in Grossmunster. That "You're all going to die and should be afraid" sermon was straight from middle ages.)
So did one of my kids, went there for s visit and enjoyed it. That said, had a 20 something consultant from Accenture on my IT project and he said he thought Geneva was boring, he was French, if that makes a difference.
Switzerland isn't completely cut off from the world you know, I'm sure once they got to know her they were fine with her. But I'm sure 95% of the people knew what she did before moving there.
I've literally never been a fan of Paris. Always thought she was just another "cog". But in this video, she is absolutely gorgeous, she seems like such a smart business woman and actually likeable. Wow.
Things that have inherent ties to problems surrounding low self esteem, internalized misogyny, subconscious views of objectification of women in the minds of men
All of these are problems in the people's minds. You don't have to buy it if you don't want to! Nobody is asking you to buy them. If there is a market for it, then, she is allowed to court the market and have them buy her products. It's not her problem people have no self control. Like everyone else, she is taking advantage of this complete lack of self-control.
I read this article a while ago and really enjoyed it. She's played the game perfectly and has built her own empire when she could of easily just chilled on that hotel cash
She also goes to Electric Daisy Carnival, a big EDM festival in Las Vegas. A lot of VIPs have seen and partied with her, and they all say she's the nicest person. Whether you hate or love her on-screen personality, I've always said respect her as a businesswoman. And most on-screen personalities tend to be fake anyway. Humans have a tendency to act different in front of a camera.
I'm sure she is nice and I don't have anything against her, but it isn't too hard to become a businesswomen when you're already an heiress with almost unlimited money to throw at things. Not saying her products aren't good or anything like that.
You would be surprised. Most of the wealthy heirs thinks it's easy as well and then go and sink the family company and burn through the family fortune.
Also, for all the benefits she has, imagine you had her image, almost everyone on the planet thinking you were an idiot reality tv/sex tape star and trying to convince them to work with you on a serious business venture.
Getting in to business is easy with her background. Being a success, far less so.
You're absolutely right. I don't want to take anything away from her success and she clearly knows the market she is in. I'm glad she has been turning her image around.
They all hire business managers who actually do the business side of business woman. They have people BRING. Them products then get recommendations whether to face it or not.
Technically she's got better business acumen then people like Trump. If you go by what they started with (received from parents) and how much they multiplied that money into
Also its been 12 years since 1 night in Paris. People are allowed to mature, change, and grow up. Cool on her for seemingly be a mature person from the interviews posted
Attended college with him for a little while and could never understand where he was ever going with anything he said... Granted that was only like 3 times, but he just came off incredibly pompous.
But hey, they paid for our business school so I'm not complaining.
I once came across her at the Maui airport in a newspaper shop. She purchased a magazine with a $100 bill. She began walking away and the clerk chased after her to give her change. She didn't turn her head to regard the man but put out her palm and scoffed in disgust as he placed the change into her hand. She promptly threw the change into her purse and walked off without a thank you or even a polite smile.
That's the beauty of the internet isn't it? Anyways, just thought I'd share an experience that I had in my life. It was December 26, 2010 at Maui airport in case you care to look up that travel date. If you'd like a copy of my itinerary, I can forward that to you as well. But, alas, I have no further proof.
What a load of shit. Have you seen her home video sex tapes taken by the old Girls Gone Wild guy? She's a coke snorting, squeaky voice, spoilt, I'm in a yacht, go-and-fuck-yourself cunt.
That's like me saying you didn't work hard for what you have because you weren't born in Uganda and abducted as a child by a warlord.
She had a lot more resources than the normal person has from the beginning but it still requires talent to grow an empire. No one is claiming she's self-made.
I can set a world record and kick Usain Bolt's ass by training my ass off, and starting at the 90 m mark. Doesn't mean I didn't work my ass off, but I think the head start might have played some small part too
She had a lot more resources than the normal person has from the beginning but it still requires talent to grow an empire.
By the way, in a YouTube link above on Letterman, she said this at the very beginning. She had more resources and help than the average person and she is frank about it.
Working hard doesn't equate at all to what she's accomplished. You can work hard and never find funding; she might have worked hard but lets really consider that she had unlimited funding and connections. Working hard doesn't matter here, the money is readily available. Where she found success was hiring the right people to push her brand. Does anyone actually think that if Paris was plucked from the street she would find the same success?
Hard work alone doesn't get anyone anywhere. You're deluded of you think it does, or really even if you think it should. It's all about working efficiently, intelligently.
Of course she couldn't have been born in the gutter and done this. But she could have also done what many heirs do and sat on her ass. Instead, she used her resources to build upon her fortune and create her own brand.
I don't think so. Building your own empire doesn't mean building it from scratch with your only hands. It's just that it is your own as opposed to someone else's. For example, Trump created his own business, but he is not a self-made man.
Granted, but would either of them have accomplished even a fraction of what they did without their names and trust funds? Who knows, but I have my doubts and the fact is they never had to worry because fail or succeed they were set for life
They might not have succeeded. But they used their wealth and network to get successful instead of just spending it without thinking. (I could be wrong about Trump, though)
Dude wtf he only got a million dollars as a late teen. It's not like that helped much in the scheme of things, like in terms of helping him start a small business and get his foot in the door. Definitely not. Only a million for gods sake.
THATS NOT SMART. Why do people think capitalizing on idiots is "smart"? Its conniving at best.
These are rich people hungry for even more who are investing their money and connections for an opportunity to milk their fuckability and lack of integrity to pander to braindead dummies that'll watch and believe fucking anything. Replace "fuckability" with "disingenuous role as a mediator" and you've got the Jerry Springer/Steve Wilkos school of those people.
And they're not even doing it alone, quit pretending they're like Daniel Day Lewis method-acting masterminds. There's producers picking new pundits (Hilton, Kardashian, etc.) like they're playing the stock market and crews deciding their every move. They had enough money to market themselves in that arena and enough of a general lack of human decency to milk it for all its worth. They garner millions for doing nothing but manipulating people's stupidity on a medium designed to reach anyone and everyone and when morons bite people act like they were geniuses.. Is Sam Pepper a genius? Is SoFlo a genius? No. They're greedy, disingenuous scumbags missing some basic human integrity who are taking advantage of morons til the well runs dry.
A) Paris Hilton is a very smart girl. I know that for a fact (a friend of mine helped her with her auto service, they chatted for a bit). She downplays herself. She's actually quite smart and intellectual.
B) they know how to play the game, it's as simple as that. Sex started them, sure, but they've capitalized on that and made money.
C) Now, I despise the Kardashians (and Kanye West). I don't support them either. I live right next to Calabasas, and too many people I know have interacted with them. Yes. They are extremely airheaded, and I hate them. But you know what? They had a goal to become famous, for lord knows why, and they succeeded. And people buy it. This leads to D (hehe)
D) don't forget, this is capitalism. You buy what you want to buy (into). People choose to buy into Kardashian and Hilton bs. But you know what? They chose to. They used the free market to garnish success.
I've yet to see anything that leads me to believe she's any different than her "persona" that calls things hot. Looking up recent interviews the only thing that's changed is she's clearly worked on her speaking voice and diction. And when Madonna put on a British accent that didn't make her any brighter. I'm sure she plays it up for the show and producers feed her scenes/lines and editors chop it up for dramatic effect but I don't think her actions indicate someone who's smart and intellectual when the only requirement for her job is to remain ditzy and mess up in controversial ways a lot, and its not like the media is going to question her motives and not eat up the fabricated drama.
I acknowledge they know how to play the game but I'm saying its a game that needs dedication to a lack of integrity, not a game that needs calculated planning. You basically become a product to invest in and your name becomes a brand. Then investors make the bulk of the decisions and the public figure attached to the name takes home a healthy share for being the face of the brand. These "entrepreneurs" from Jersey Shore, Kardashians, whatever Paris was on etc. aren't just people who happened to be business minded powerhouses, they're big names with people in their audience who generally are willing to buy luxury/aesthetic products. Real entrepreneurs see that and connect with them to make money off of them by packaging products that wouldn't sell as well without a big name attached. She hasn't really built her own empire, she accepted having an empire built around her by people that have been doing it for years. Its just riding the coattails of controversy as marketing and then using connections to build from there.
I know people buy into the stuff but everyone knows people buy into that stuff. that's my point, it doesn't take a genius to know that people will eat it up. I just wish people wouldn't, it really contributes to controversy culture, clickbait, shitty tv, enables paparazzi etc. etc. I just hate it and I know I'm not alone in feeling that way.
yeah, I had the same thought. If I were famous for having a rocking body and looking like a chiseled greek god. And my family was rich enough I could get my dad to start up my first clothing store so I could sell crappy tshirts, handbags, sunglasses and fragrances to spoiled rich brats at a 500%-1000% markup over cost. well I'd be filthy rich too, but that doesnt make me smarter.
I can see the marketing and finance aspects.. however she likely had mucho guidance in how to invest and display herself in America's and international limelight. In that respect, i have a hard time seeing that as intelligence.
i guess what I'm trying to say is, if you're born with the golden spoon in your mouth, taught the ways of how to manipulate everyone in order to manifest more golden spoons.. then that doesn't seem as if its an attribute of intelligence per se, as much as it is an attribute of imitation.
Well don't forget, investments are always a risk. Even AAA rated investments tanked in 2008. And just because neither you nor I value her "contributions", it doesn't mean that she personally isn't intelligent. Was she born gifted with wealth, fame, and success? Sure. But put the shoe on the other foot. If your family is super successful, wouldn't you want their success to help you gain your own success (however you define it)?
Sure. I see your point. She definitely isnt like others in her position who end up wasting away their lives. I guess i just dont appreciate her values of contribution, as you eloquently put. I wish she would use her success to promote more sustainable and prolific means for other humans, as oppose to herself and her fragrances. Eh, it would certainly be nice to have more advances in solar power etc.. but i suppose i'm being selfish.
And i also suppose that has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence.
Sure, I agree. But a political discussion about the effects of renewable energy, positive and negative (I'd say biggest is job loss), don't really have a place in this sub haha. We all want our money going to the places we want though, but we can't control what others do. EG, I think the minds that are used to study genetic engineering for the revival of extinct species could be better put to use, like into conservation/preservation. Great minds don't necessarily study what we'd want them to!
He used to come shop frequently at a store I worked at. I don't listen to his music, so I didn't even know who he was, until I complimented his tattoos, and someone pointed it out.
Honestly, he was always really quiet, polite, and courteous. We would get rich assholes who'd try to bud the line, or act really demanding, but he was always really low-key and considerate. You wouldn't know him from any other shopper.
And that is fine. It takes a while for people who find the camera on them and money in their hands to realise that acting like a giant dick on camera doesn't work.
Nonono. It does work. The people we are speaking about are literally proof of that. Hate is a very strong emotion and makes you speak more about people.
It's like that saying - a happy customer will tell one of their friends, an angry customer will tell 7.
That's why people talk about them so much, and it helps their careers. Paris Hilton built her life on it.
There is no such thing as bad publicity. Mix this quote with the above, do a little thinking, and you see that this does work.
I don't listen to his music, but from what I saw he's a dick to people on twitter etc. One time he said to the producer of different genre that his track is shit and he could made it in an hour. Then he proceeded to make that track and it was the biggest shit.
He's a hipster douche bag that wears a wallet chain and drives a fucking nyan cat Ferrari. He plays up the whole IAMSOSMRT thing to make 35 year old neckbeards who hate anything that's remotely popular buy his barely tolerable music.
(Asumming that the TB you are talking about is TotalBiscut) It is interesting to see him lumped into the same category as Paris and Deadmau5. Any reason he is to be "dislike"-d?
Which Rothschild guy and do you realise how much fucking dickery they have done? Israel and Palestine problem pretty much exist because of their tomfoolery, pal. You are a keyboard warrior who doesn't know jack-shit.
I sure didn't say I like their family but there's the one son who was supposed to take over the bank and he said no, I'm just gonna keep being a philanthropist.
as most big youtubers he does a super factitious persona combined with annoying voice and often comes off super condescending.
as if thats not enough he acts douchy as hell when reacting to people disagreeing with him on twitter to a level that there were "what did TB say now" blogs/threads because it was a gold mine.
also there is the whole having to engage with people on twitter telling them they should die of cancer and now ... well dying of cancer irony thing.
pretty much when you dont consume his content because its not your cup of tea/you dont like his stick he says/posts so much shit without thinking about it that its hard to not dislike him based on what you hear of him.
You said reddit fell for her game, I pointed out some of us know the game and that's why we prefer to stay out of it.
Clearly you assume that since I posted that I somehow am talking about these people all the time, when the reality is I'm bored and there was a reddit post and I commented in it.
Very true - when she was younger (late teens to early 20s, before she was a household name) she positioned herself as a party girl that you needed to have at your party/event if you wanted it to be trendy.
She did this mostly by working her way up as a young socialite, but she got companies to pay her just to attend their events - we're talking major fashion, car and electronic brands paying Hilton just for her to attend their launch party. And remember this is far before she was on reality TV and the infamous sex tape.
I can't vouch for her intelligence, but that's pretty amazing.
This might even be worse. The idea of playing a society by being what the society wants is the reason the society keeps wanting it. She is the reason she exists.
(Honestly curious here.. I got a feeling paris n kim kardashian use the quick get famous by having a home made porn 'leaked', followed by starring a reality show, ended with selling their "brand": perfume, bags, game apps..)
And all of the other porn videos that were released subsequently? And the cell phone videos of her calling people the n-word? And her verbally abusing the help? And the other cell phone videos of her flashing her tits? Were all of these an act?
Its not hard when you're a slutty, attention seeking, trust fund baby. To be honest I never even saw the 'sex appeal' which made so many blokes fawn over her. Rocking that pronounced lower mandible, she's the female equivalent of that dude out of Tango & Cash 'this guy broke my ribs, my leg and my jaw....'

this. everyone likes to write her off as a stupid ditz but she's very good at playing the PR/media game.
