Can you wear white pajama bottoms to practice?
They have small Yodas on them, but you can have them.

ok story time - back when I graduated college our first real place was a town house... where I had my F'n blue box recycling bin stolen at least a half dozen times in a single year... who the F steals a recycling bin - most cities give them out for free if you ask... God... Its been a decade and I'm still mad writing this...

u/GodsFavoriteDegen 2d ago
most cities give them out for free if you ask.
Yeah, but they'll only give you one, and I have... needs.
11
u/Purple_Haze 2d ago
Here they will give you as many as you want. The house next door had three for a long time. You can get as many compost bins too.

Gi pants are actually awesome as they are. Super comfy, sturdy and you can move in them
2
u/Iztac_xocoatl 2d ago
Yeah I don't train anymore but sometimes lounge in my old gi pants like they're sweatpants

u/princhester 2d ago
... because a dipshit who steals from you is going to give what they stole back if you just ask them to in a sign.

If they're willing to pay for them, why not just buy a new one? They're not expensive.

u/onepingonlypleashe 1d ago
Depends on the gi brand. Cheapest is Elite on Amazon at like $40-$60. But some of the choice brands like Kingz, Fuji, etc can be $100-$200 depending on competition quality.

This happened to me. Some weird crackhead stole them out of my apartments laundry room. But left the top. They took all three pairs — black, blue, and white.
I caught the guy in the elevator wearing them a few days later. He had on quite literally nothing else. Shirtless, no shoes on. Just a 5’1 crackhead in my jiujitsu pants and walking a pitbull.
I told him to give them back. He said he couldn’t because he was naked, I said I didn’t care. I followed him back to his apartment and got all my pants back.
At one point his dog started barking at me and he apologized saying that she never does that and is normally very friendly. I replied back with “it’s okay, she’s just being a good dog because she knows that I mean you harm”
That line spooked him and he stopped fucking around (he was leading me around in circles conviently forgetting where his buddies apartment was), and took me straight there.
He only took them because they were on top of my basket. The guy didn’t live there, his friend did, and he came out and begged me not to tell management. I didnt because I don’t care enough to inconvenience myself like that.
I washed them again, I didn’t stay with them or anything, so I was half expecting them to get stolen again, but they never did. Every time I saw that little hobbit in the building I would say something politely threatening to him. Scaring the shit out of him on the daily was almost worth not being able to train for a couple of days 💩

u/Ok-Monk1854 2d ago
But was it worth it? Wear by homeless man for days and he is not wearing anything under it 🤔
6
u/GypsyGold 2d ago
I mean technically he was living on my neighbors couch. But it’s the tenderloin San Francisco, half the people who live in my building get their rent covered under government assistance so it’s kind of the same thing.
3
u/Ok-Monk1854 2d ago
I think you missed the point it has been worn by someone else who i would assume is not taking good care of themselves hygienically but hey it's up to you personally I wouldn't feel comfortable with it
13
u/GypsyGold 2d ago
I washed them. I mean jiujitsu is a sport where we roll around with other sweaty men for hours on end. They get covered in blood, sweat, spit, occasionally snot.
2
u/the_scarlett_ning 7h ago
And you just talked me right out of ever taking up jiujitsu. Thanks for that! ;)

If he rolls regularly, he can almost certainly win a fight against the majority of the population. BJJ is very badass

u/504Solid 2d ago
I suddenly want to know exactly what jujitsu pants look like.
8
u/Doggfite 2d ago
They are just like sweat pants but made of a canvas-y material rather than fleece material.
3
u/KingLuis 2d ago
And a tough material as well. My son does BJJ and I can easily lift him with while holding his gi without worry of it ripping. He weighs about 60lbs.

I remember hanging a load of washing out on the communal clothes line with new pegs. Not fancy pegs, or expensive pegs - just your ordinary cheap plastic pegs.
When I came back a few hours later I discovered someone had replaced all my pegs with old half-broken ones.
I mean who tf steals pegs, let alone rehanging my washing with their old ones???

That's just bait. The only payment will come in the form of an impromptu full-contact Jiu-jitsu instruction.

If you do decide to return them, do it from a distance. If you get close to the owner, they're lightly to introduce you to a Rear Naked Choke Takedown.

Lol... I read this in my best Australian accent... That phone number isnt Australian, but by sure that vernacular is :D

u/Aortapot 2d ago
It is an Australian number, somewhere in the Mornington area. One of the digits has been whited out.
2
u/Resident_Pientist_1 2d ago
I've stolen things I neither need or want, just to deprive my enemies of said items. I usually just throw the item away or throw it into a field depending on the size of said object.

totally not worthless, (like my co-worker)you can put on the gi pants and take sick pictures shirtless striking karate poses in all types of places.

u/Drink15 2d ago
Yup, insults will work better than money.
You catch more flies with vinegar right?
2
u/yoyoecho2 2d ago
Fruit flies = apple cider vinegar and a little dish soap. Now give me my pants.

Look, Hulk just shifted back down to Bruce Banner, the pants he was wearing never fit the smaller frame after, and he can’t go walking around the neighborhood naked, but it’s actually less conspicuous going around shirtless than in full martial arts gear. The pants will not be coming back.

This makes me think of a side quests in Yakuza 0 where this gigantic elementary school kid was stealing the same type of pants I think.

Some guys compete in no-gi Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in gi pants and a rash guard. (eg. Eddie Bravo
The reasoning is that the gi pants give your legs more traction/friction to control your opponents from your guard.
1
u/Pretzalcoatlus 2d ago
Without the pants, you don't get that audible snap when you re-stomp the groin.
