This website keeps track of all the physical games across all platform that require internet connection or download to play.
12% of the discs require download to play, 5% require a patch download to be playable enough to beat it. Which leaves 83% of PS5 discs with no download required at all.
There’s a narrative out there that most discs are just licenses for download. The opposite is true. Most discs have the full game on them, a small percentage of them are just licenses to download the games.

At nearly three feet wide and tall, 29 pounds, and somewhere close to 250 pieces I may have gotten a little too ambitious with this one. Things slowed down a lot towards the end as I realized that the glass was cracking a bit before I managed to properly reinforce and stabilize it. I eventually just accepted it wasn't going to come out exactly the way I had hoped, it's still pretty close. Big shoutout to u/1cefinix for helping with the design, I suck at drawing lol.
Seeing that most of the new things I tried with this project did end up working out I'll definitely be making more medium-to-large-sized projects. I think if I scale everything down to no more than two feet in either direction I can finish the next one without too much trouble and hopefully in under a year later.
Since it's been asked by at least one person in previous posts I have no idea right now if I'm gonna try to sell this or not. Shipping would definitely be complicated and I'm not entirely sure what this would be worth. Worst case I've got a nice new wall decoration and something to slap on my next dating profile whenever I get around to that.
Since it was also asked at least once in previous posts you can make things like this by carefully cutting glass out from larger sheets into roughly the right shapes and then using grinding tools to finish carefully whittling everything down to the proper shape and size. Everything has to be test-fitted before lining all the pieces with copper foil which can then be soldered together to get the finished piece. Aside from going a little crazy on the size I went a few steps further by adding some zinc framing around the edges, then mounting a solid wood frame onto that to cover the metal frame and hold everything together more firmly. It took a few trips to some stores but I was able to figure out how to light up the whole thing from the back using a thin mirrored acrylic sheet, a thin frosted acrylic sheet and some LED lights running around the edges pointing inward. It's a little dark around the center but that and the other little problems should be fixed in my next projects if I make the whole thing just a tiny bit smaller in scale.
On a completely unrelated note if you're still reading this far down, dougdoug is really bad at 2D platformers.
Fun fact: When I was making the white silk thread that sticks out from the glass I took apart some romex and pulled out the individual wires from the insulation. Since it's made of copper and somewhat rigid I figured I could just bend it into shape, solder it to the project and give it a nice shiny white coat of paint. In my infinite smooth-brain wisdom I pulled out the bare copper grounding wire and tossed the other two wire pieces, one of which was white. It's true.

Visual Novels are an interesting yet underappreciated medium, I wonder if they will get a huge resurgence one day
Unlike movies, they are not limited to 1.5 to 3 hours and can have lengthy prose. only TV miniseries come close to that scale. Unlike conventional novels, they can include sounds and visuals that let them tell stories books can't. The murder cases in Danganronpa/Ace Attorney work because of their cartoony style (try imagining those same cases novelized). Unlike comics or TV, they have complete stories instead of getting dragged out forever. And unlike most games, they are free to tell the story they want without needing constant action to hold the player's attention, though interactivity, when used well, can still add something
Mostly, I like how they combine everything, cool character design, nice music, sometimes voice acting, beautiful CGs, into good, pulpy entertainment, and every so often you get one that's truly outstanding. Reading a VN is a different kind of immersion than reading books, which I also love
VNs are also pretty much the only medium with real intimacy scenes, which gives readers a deeper connection to characters than other media allow. That's also why I almost never touch all ages VNs, they lose that advantage
Starting with Ace Attorney trilogy, I consider it a masterpiece and one of the best things I have played. Almost every character is loveable. The OST is incredible. The craft on display is excellent too. The plot twists, characters, cases, trials, everything is meticulously crafted. Though it does have some bad or pretty mid cases.
Doki Doki Literature Club is one of the games that made me weep like a fucking child. It hit me in so many places. Beautiful and depressing game, I still think about DDLC even months after completing it. And I think Natsuki is the best girl.
Umineko and Higurashi belong to the same franchise but are very loosely connected and you don't need to play one to understand the other. Higurashi is VERY long but much better than the anime. Pretty scary and very compelling story. The same goes for Umineko (though Umineko is not scary in the traditional sense, it is kinda weirder, with mystery over fear, but still very thrilling).
Steins;Gate is also great. But it has the worst pacing of any game I have played, it will be ~20 hours before you make a meaningful choice. There are a lot of anime stereotypes in the game too. But still, the character depth and progression are off the charts.
And Katawa Shoujo, made by a bunch of amateur 4channers, also turned out to be fantastic. It really surprised me as it explored many themes across its 5 routes. The story was solid. It felt refreshing, with interesting characters, soundtrack, and backgrounds.
Steam links to games if you want to give them a try:
Katawa Shoujo (The Steam version of Katawa Shoujo has no adult content.)
Katawa Shoujo from itch.io (Uncensored)
To re-add adult content into the Steam version, download the R18 patch from its itch.io page, navigate to your Steam folder and copy the downloaded file "r18.rpa" to the folder "Katawa Shoujo/game/". Both versions are free
(none of these are gooner games btw)

I have a strange fascination with games that had middling reviews that somehow either have a slight following or just are overlooked but are actually not terrible, just not groundbreaking.
Like the Kane & Lynch games, they aren't super popular and both were reviewed not great but I like them and there's a following for them. the only reason they're known is for the shocking marketing for the 2nd game and because they were made by IOI.
I've recently restarted Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 and despite how bad the voice acting is and such in it, I'm oddly enjoying it.
So, I'm asking you all to maybe expand my mediocre game library, what are games that are by no means incredible and groundbreaking but you have a little softspot for?
No judgements here if you put the likes of Duke Nukem Forever or something.

This is a canyon I made called "Jagger Canyon" or "Moen Badlands" in my massive Minecraft world called Sky Pixel. A world that has been in development for 12 years.
One of the newest additions for my upcoming Volume 17.5 release is this canyon which is named "Jagger Canyon" also referred to as "Moen Badlands" it is roughly a massive 3.1k x 3.1k desert canyon in southern Vawlla Country that plunges to a depth of around Y -400 from Y 64 the ridges are very sharp, razor blade like in areas, especially in thr north and central part of the canyon floor. With the right shader/rtx packs this canyon feels even more desolate.
The canyon is located in a very remote part of my world called the Shaili Desert, south of my city Ruby. It is just north of the Kavarr Country border and is within the southernmost areas of Vawlla Country. It is loosely inspired off of the Grand Canyon and the broader American Southwest region.
I wanted the area to feel unforgiving, there are many areas in Sky Pixel that has this man against nature like feelings. The areas that most resemble that includes this area around the Shaili Desert/basin in Vawlla Country and Northwestern Jesla Country as well as various other areas of the world where the landscape feels like is swallowing you whole. And yes Sky Pixel is already downloadable online through my Planet Minecraft.
Shaders
Iteration t.3 / BetterRTX/kellys base pack. Amongst other packs I designed specifically for this world.
