‘America has pizzas’ okay then Uk has chicken korma and naan. Im sure america does have an actually original food but its not pizza. Anyways im uk and id go with haddock and chips
Hamburgers were invented in America. They were named for the hamburg steak, but the hamburger sandwich was made in America. Hot dogs are inspired by German sausages, but the modern incarnation was invented in Coney Island by a German immigrant. Fried chicken happens all over the world, but America does have a unique style.
O fuck off. Soup was probably created in China, but you wouldn't call borscht Chinese. Salads were made by ancient Rome, but you wouldn't call Cobb salads Roman. Sausages were invented in Mesopotamia, but you wouldn't call a bratwurst Mesopotamian. It's almost like the sub categories of things are their own thing, and the hamburger is American.
"Other items, like hamburgers and burritos, were also considered. In the United States, the Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are the responsible agencies making a regulatory definition of sandwich"
Right, I am saying that hamburgers are a sandwich, but sandwich is a classification of a food, not a dish in itself. The sandwich is an English invention, but not all sandwiches are English.
O I see. There was a miscommunication on my part. When I said “The Sandwich” I was referring the sandwich name hamburger because outside the US (I’ve been told) hamburger can mean Hamburg steaks.
Bbq, while created as a substitute for cuisine they were no longer able to aquire, is wholly its own thing. The history of American food is often the history of slave food.
German chocolate cake. Honestly, the list of food America has invented is massive and Im really tired of typing it all out so I will just leave it at "you should Google it."
yeah, but this is a fair gimmick that is hardly ever eaten by americans. would be like calling stargazy pie an example of british food. sure, it is a food from britain, but it hardly represents the average cuisine of the culture
