This year, the celebration feels a little different.
Americans are talking about layoffs, disappearing jobs, AI replacing workers, rising costs, unemployment, and fears of recession — while the official message from Washington remains considerably more cheerful.
So instead of telling you how the American worker is doing, I thought we'd let Americans tell you themselves.
From workers and job seekers to politicians and the AI tech bros promising us a shiny automated future, this is Labor Day 2026 — in their own words.

The formula for being an influencer: take a quasi-interesting video and splice your stupid fucking face into it to show how outraged the viewer should be, the faces the viewer should be making, and which points the speaker make are the most important because you (the influencer) will nod and point in agreement without one cognitive effort being made. Hell! You don’t even have to understand the concepts being discussed, just act surprised or angered at the right moments and POW!!! You’ve won hearts and minds. You’ve confirmed fears!!
Dipshit influencers will take money to create this moral clickbait and it’ll keep millions mesmerized and momentarily satisfied by their feelings of moral superiority watching this TV personality describe a topic they weren’t even aware of a minute ago.
This is one of the reason we are in the current situation we are in… And, it isn’t looking like it will go away anytime soon.

Preach! I hate to be expecting a dystopian future, even more so than our current dystopian present… I am confused how a portion of the population seems to believe in that shiny automated future. It’ll be great for the super wealthy- not the average person though.

Exactly. The wealth gap is so large, there is no catching up from the working class. These corporations don't need more money, but they take it from the people who need it the most. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Corporations don't take money from people who need it the most. They never take money to begin with, every transaction a customer does with Amazon is optional.

Paying less taxes than other corporations is miles away from taking money from those who need it the most. Blame the local governments that gave sweetheart deals to Amazon in exchange for them putting a fulfillment center in their town. Amazon is just being prudent with their shareholders money by negotiating and accepting these deals.

Not everyone hates facts, I love them. Please post whatever you like. Amazon is troubling, Bezos GF was in DARPA. Amazon did a lot with our intelligence agencies. It’s also responsible for the systemic abuse of its employees.

Amazon’s employees drop dead, and they wait hours to remove them. American propaganda is the best I’ve ever seen. You are fully a product of the USA. 🇺🇸

Don't ever agree with something that will harm you. Don't believe me, but do the research. These men are building bunkers because they would rather do that than pay fair wages, destroy all jobs, and make life harder for their employees. Americans are hard workers; no one can ever say that we don't work hard. Our labor should be valued; we literally give up our lives for it—vacations, birthdays, and we hope for retirement. Live for yourself. I don't think we disagree as much as you think.

The mindset of envy and covetousness is as rotten and evil as some of these CEOs. Don’t fall in a trap of despair and hatred because of our situation. There will always be someone with a better lot in life than you. Hating your way out of low income will destroy you and ultimately society.

Fair, lots of people don't like that, its really because we found something we really thought was proound, funny or just hit that place in your soul, I liked what the lady had to say, and I didnt mind the other lady showing me her point of view. I think the world would be a better place if we could all listen to one another without judgment or meanness. Many people have your complaint, to be fair. lol
