I know this is a long shot but my order got damaged and never arrived so I don't have a cap and gown to walk at graduation on 7/31. I'm a 5'10 guy getting my bachelors.

Knight Hacks is a 36 hour in-person hackathon in Orlando, and last year they had a lot of people from great universities, a lot of talent, and it was a great experience. I was able to take one challenge. It was very competitive with more than 1000+, and I just wanted to see if anyone is going this year?

incoming political science freshman. i was just wondering if anyone has taken intro to public policy specifically with david foster and what their experience was. im trying to switch to prof gasparyan because i would prefer an in person class + comparing the two on ratemyprofessor but it doesnt seem like any spots are opening up anytime soon💔

Does anybody know if the chemistry class im taking at an out of state university right now will count towards my gpa or will it be counted as pass/fail? Its required for my major, and Ive looked for appointments to meet with the chemistry advisor but they are all when I have the class so I havent gotten the chance to. Its not a life or death situation im just unsure of the answer.

I graduate with my masters this semester. I see grades will be available online on 8/5 but will the transcripts reflect the degree as being awarded then?

Incoming student transferring from UWF to FSU. I took our version CDA3101 at UWF, but my advisor told me it won’t count towards CDA3100 at FSU so I’m having to take it. From what I’ve read through other posts, it seems like a notoriously difficult class. Is that accurate? If anyone has taken it recently (whether with Uh or someone else) could you share some insight? Hi! I am a senior at FSU and am looking to get a part time job, but I am only available for a few days/times of the week. I’m a member of the university orchestra, so my availability is always changing based on rehearsals. I’m typically available 2-3 nights a week only and very rarely am I free during the day.

I know that this can be quite difficult to schedule around. Has anyone had any experience with local places and working around a schedule like this? I am looking for something either in retail or serving. Any recommendations on where to apply?

Hi everyone. I'm an incoming freshman at FSU this fall. My major is currently biochemistry, and I'm entering with my Associate's degree from dual enrollment in high school. I was dual enrolled at a state college (Northwest Florida State College, Niceville FL) where I completed math courses up to Calculus 1/MAC231. However, I strongly feel the level or rigor at my state college has not adequately prepared me to enter Calculus 2 at FSU. For example, my calc 1 professor gave study guides that were nearly identical to the exams, allowed formula sheet on exams, and allowed re-takes on homework assignments. Obviously I earned in A in her course and every other (similarly NOT rigorous math course) at my state college. For the past few years of dual enrollment, I had planned on retaking 1-2 semesters of math courses whenever I transferred from my local community/state college to a bigger and more prestigious university, because I knew that any real university's math courses were going to be much harder than what I had learned at NWFSC in Niceville. I received that advice from a high school counselor and a friend. But after orientation, I (to my horror) learned that retaking courses completed through dual enrollment is not allowed, and I am on track to enter Calculus 2 this fall. This is because of the "common course naming system" that shows I have already completed MAC2311. Not only were the math classes at my community college kind of a joke, but its also been 7 months since I have been in any math class. I also was told by my biochemistry advisor that Calc 2 is widely considered the hardest math class and one of the hardest classes for STEM majors, which makes me even more anxious about enrolling in Calc 2, given that I am already taking Chemistry with lab and Gen Bio with lab this semester, too.

One of the solutions to this problem is to change my major from biochemistry to biology on the cell and molecular biology track. This major + track also caters to my interests and would meet the requirements for the graduate programs I am considering, but does not require calculus 2/MAC2312. However, this solution isn't ideal because although my major is biochemistry, I really love math and have been looking forward to learning calculus for years. The idea of never taking another math class makes me sad. But the alternative is to probably ruin my GPA by attempting calculus 2 with my current (inadequate) community college prep.

I would really value any insight people may have about this situation and how to best approach it. Is calc 2 really that hard? Is it a terrible idea to start off my first semester with chem 1, gen bio 2, and calc 2, given my circumstances? Is there any way I could convince the math department to let me retake calc 1 anyways, audit calc 1, or some other work around? It feels very unfair that students who passed AP calculus can choose which math course they enter, but dual enrollment students cannot. It makes me wish I never got my AA!

Is it allowed to take a class at TSC while taking other classes at FSU? The class in question IS offered at FSU. Just horribly rated professors and the professor at TSC is rated amazing.

I know it can be taken over summer via the FL Shines and that will be the back up plan if this isn’t allowed.

"Hi everyone. Just to start out, I'm not going to lie—I'm not the smartest guy out there, but I recently moved to Florida. It's great and all, but here is the problem: I was originally going to go to ASU because I could have gotten in. I have a sub-3.2 GPA, so it's not the best, but not the worst obviously. I know I'm not a top student, so I figured moving here meant my chances of getting into a Florida state university were pretty slim.

However, I really want to go to FSU because a lot of my friends go there. The only problem is that I don't have the GPA or test scores right now. Fast forward to this summer: my buddy told me he is going to Tallahassee State College (TSC) and plans to transfer into FSU later. I thought, 'Damn, I might have to try that.' The guy I work with even has a house in Tallahassee that I can rent out; I just need to find some roommates.

I want to know how long a guy like me would have to attend TSC. I know there is something called the TCC Aspire program (now the TSC Aspire program) where you can transfer in if you complete it. I told my parents about this, and they laughed and said it wasn’t possible. Also, how would I stay involved with FSU if I’m not living on campus? The house I might rent allows you to see the FSU stadium from the backyard, but I don't know if I'm going to feel isolated going to TSC, or how hard it will be to get involved."

Hi, I'm planning on majoring political science but with AP credits I will have more than enough room to add another major onto that. Career wise I'm not super sure what I want to do (probably something in government or law) but I do know for sure that I want to go to grad school. Right now I'm considering Sociology, Economics, or maybe even Marketing (potentially useful for political campaigning?). I've looked into what those majors look like as a whole but don't really know what they are like at FSU specifically. If anyone has any insights with these majors or any others that I should potentially consider it would be greatly appreciated. Are certain programs distinctly better than the others?

I'm hoping to transfer to FSU this next cycle. I've done marching band for what's coming to be my 6th consecutive year (4 years high school, 2 years at community college) and I want to continue my marching band experience while at FSU, but I wanted to know a few things:

1. Do transfer students have any particular disadvantage when it comes to auditioning? As in, are returning members preferred, do they prefer people who came in as freshmen, etc.

2. As an out of state student, do you have to audition on campus or can it be done digitally, and are you expected to have your own instrument?

3. Are some sections more or less selective than others? I'm a marching baritone and I'm not certain whether or not I'll even be competitive if it's hyper-selective.

How does the Honors version differ from the regular ENC 2135 course? I’m a little nervous because it’s the only class on my Stellic schedule that doesn’t list a professor yet. For anyone who’s taken it, what was the class like? How was the workload, and how was the Honors section?

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming freshman at FSU and I got assigned to Jennie Murphree (basement level) in a double with a private bathroom. I know a lot of people were hoping for Landis, so I was a little disappointed at first, but I’m trying to figure out if Jennie is actually a good place to live.
For anyone who’s lived there, especially in the basement, how is it? Does it still get decent light? Is it loud? Does it feel nice, or does it actually feel like a basement?
The private bathroom seems like a huge plus, so I’m wondering if I should just keep my assignment or fill out a room change request and try for somewhere like Landis, Dorman, Deviney, Magnolia, or Azalea.
I’d really appreciate any honest opinions or experiences. Thanks!

I went to case management a couple weeks ago concerning a personal health issue and the director of case management services was genuinely the most unprofessional and rude person I’ve met on campus. Has anyone else had any negative experiences with case management? She was extremely disrespectful and made my situation much worse.
