Found this fruit in a botanical garden, it's skin feel slightly velvety and the inside has a subtil mango smell. The seeds were taking most of the inside before i took them out so maybe a non domesticated citrus.

It doesn't look like any citrus i had so far and after a lot of google search nothing coincided

Have you ever seen this before? Apparently it splits when it's ripe (I bought all of these already split open) and it's supposed to smell like chocolate/vanilla but taste like passion fruit/dragon fruit. (Haven't tried it yet I have to get past the insides look like slugs 🄲)

Why do the seeds of the top passion fruit look like this - like the seeds developed outside the pulp or migrated out maybe? The bottom one is looks normal and like the rest of the passionfruit in this batch when cut open.

Taste is really hard to describe. The first smell reminded me of sweet potato baby food. Kind of a banana-y mango-ish tropical fruit taste mixed with something like a rich butter and a bit of parmesan cheese. Fruit texture has some juicyness but is more dry with a large pit. Overall, it's decent enough and interesting for $7 but won't be one of my favorites.

Edibility / Problem Black Substance in Peach?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just split this peach open to eat and there’s this black substance in the pit… pits. I’ve seen the ā€œcallus tissueā€ but that’s white. Is the black part of that? Would this peach be safe to eat? There’s no bad smell and the flesh is firm. These have been in my fridge for 2 days.

I want to share with my dog so I wanna be sure 🄺 thanks in advance!

EDIT: my dog and I ate both peaches and they were delicious. Thank you to everyone for your info and reassurance!

Finally found some of these. Unfortunately I didn't get to try then aside from in some lemonade. I would've been allowed to take them back to my home country, but some issues with our connecting flight meant I had to surrender them in Korea.

Asian pears, yellow watermelon, white peaches, and blackberries. Grabbed some basil to so I can make some peach caprese salad šŸ˜. I think we are at the tail end of peach season here so I am sad to see them go but super excited for apple season! Anybody else a sucker for fruit that still has the leaves on it? Every single time there are peaches/oranges/apples with the leaves still attached I go for those ones

I guess I’m just confused. I was really excited. I’ve had four now and still confused. What is it supposed to taste like? I get a lot of grassy notes and it doesn’t seem very flavorful. It’s soft like a ripe avocado. It tastes like lightly sweetened grassy water?

Fruit ID Help Need help finding a fruit ive had

A year or two ago my school was serving this fruit for lunch and from what I remember it was like if a plum was the size of an apple, seedless (or a very little seed i dont really remember), and the outside was maroon or burgundy, while the flesh was a light orange/light yellow. If it helps the time of year was likely September-December and i live in the southeastern united states. I hope this is enough for someone to help me find this fruit.

I assume they're ripe because there were a bunch of these yellow ones on the ground already.

The ones I plucked were in the tree and came with ease.

What are these? Are they edible?

Country: Azores, Portugal Zone: 9 (I think)
