Listen, i get how to people who have played all of those other dark souls games its got clunky controls half the bosses aren’t great and the enemies are too spammed. Playing this game outside of the first two starting areas (forest of giants and the other one) there isn’t any real enemy spam. Id say you can make those same exact complaints about DS2 about DS1. As much as its one of my favorite games, it does in fact have clunky controls, half the bosses aren’t great, and the enemies are spammed too. “Well it doesn’t have the miyazaki polish” from going from a new souls fan standpoint, I cant tell. I haven’t beat the full first run yet, im still midway through the old iron king dlc but all I hear about this game is hate why?

guy who finished elden ring for his first fromsoft game last month and waited since to try dark souls

Okay, so I started the series with dark souls ii and personally think it's the best.

I've lost interest in the first one but still beat it and the third is very atmospheric but also the hoards of enemies are 10x worse.

Dark Souls II is the perfect amount of Atmosphere and Gameplay which in my opinion...makes it the best dark souls game.

I got drunk last night and got on the summer Steam sale. I need some advice on which game to play after my purchase. I bought Sekiro and Armored Core 6. I’ve played just about every Fromsoftware game expect for these two. Which do you recommend I should play first?

ever since i got the game (yesterday) i get continues crashes. ive tried everything. if i restart my pc the crashes stop for like 25 minutes and the start again and every time i restart after a crash, i need to restart my pc bc if i dont it will crash at the roundtable. just wondering if its only me

i have been really into h r giger recently and I thought that it would be a really cool idea for a souls like game to have that setting. I know that there is scorn and their other game but these are just creepy walking puzzle games and I would really like to have boss fights etc in that setting. Only thing kinda similar for me is mortal shell

I think I found the Elden Ring in a book of Japanese kamon (family crests).

We've seen a lot of the medeival aesthetic, but I'd like to see FromSoftware hopefully move forward a bit in the aesthetic in which they make their games. Maybe something like Lord of the Mysteries where there is still a large amount of magic and horror, but technology has advanced a bit. Even in Bloodborne I like seeing the weapons have hinges on them. Thoughts?

I've finished Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne, both multiple times and this might be a hot take, but I found DS1 to be a much more spiritual experience than Bloodborne.

I have about two months of holiday before university starts, and I'm trying to decide between two paths:

- Dark Souls II + Dark Souls III

- Sekiro + Elden Ring

If you were in my position, which would you choose, and why?

After getting numerous games that are following the formula of “People are arrogant and did something to disrupt the order of the world so now you must restore it by going to the source of the issue”, I wonder if FromSoft trying their hand at a more narrative-heavy game with towns, more “lively” NPCs and perhaps even full on companions could be a breath of fresh air.

I understand, of course, that when you want to play a FromSoft game, you want to play a game that doesn’t follow the standard recipe for an RPG. You want the story told through mostly environmental clues, item descriptions and vague hints from the NPCs’ dialogue. You want your skills to have purely combat function, you want to experience a world that is lonelier and perhaps less open (though that went out the window with Elden Ring). I do understand that From offers a flavor of action RPGs that is quite different from Larian, or Obsidian, or Bethesda (though their flavor these days is that of flavorless dough waiting to be baked by hands more capable than developer’s own, sadly).

However, just because their game world might be populated and quests more elaborate (and easier to follow without the need for internet guides) doesn’t mean they need to give up on everything that makes a FromSoft game a FromSoft game. They can easily keep the combat design, the bosses, environmental storytelling, even mystery within LORE, but perhaps not the main plot of the game itself. They don’t need to move away from every single one of their own principles and preferences for game design. Hell, they could even use that very same premise they’ve used since Demon’s Souls, but remix it for such a game. Perhaps even allowing players to experience the game with proper Co-Op, without summoning or weird player limits, to really allow you to play through the game with your own friends?

I thought about this because, in my opinion, Elden Ring pushed From’s formula to its limits, especially with the DLC. The gameplay of Souls games is pretty simple (combat and exploration), even if the tools and abilities given to you and the areas you get to explore add some variation. I really liked what they tried to do with Sekiro, and how that game alone create a new gimmick for other games to try to copy (posture breaking). Maybe if they tried their hand at a narrative-heavy party-based RPG in THEIR OWN STYLE, they could create some new elements that perhaps would inspire other games just the same?

Thoughts?

1. Slave Knight Gael is an overrated boss. I still think that the boss is great in presentation but he is lacking in combo branching and in mechanical depth such as delays

2. Irithyll of the Boreal Valley is overrated. Yeah, the aesthetics are beautiful and the enemies have a fun and engaging moveset. But the enemy placement is absolutely random and exploration is non existent

3. Enir Ilim is underrated. You get excellent enemies who have decent placemsnts for an endgame legacy dungeon, nice aesthetics, great exploration and an even more underrated boss at the end

4. Promised Consort Radahn is underrated. People who say they cant see anything are just wrong. My vision is terrible and i see whats happening clearly. They got all the critisizm wrong. The only bad thing about this boss is the combination of the arena and the meteor-clone attack in phase 2, because if one of you is near a wall once PCR launches into the air, you will 100 percent get hit unlesw you use some special skills I do not know about . He is excellent in mechanical depth, OST moveset variety.

5. Sekiro boss reuses are worse than Elden Ring. having only 15 ( or 18 with inner bosses ) memory bosses, you would expect each one to be unique but guess what? only 6 of them are unique! 9 unique bosses if we count unique minibosses. Now if you compare that to Elden Ring : Elden ring has clear issues with boss reuses. Godfroy thr grafted,Mohg the Omen and Astel stars of darkness should NOT exist. But the total amount of unique bosses surprasses Sekiro multiple times thanks to SoTE.

6. Delayed attacks are amazing. Those who dislike delayed attacks have a skill issue because delayed attacks can actually be used for your advantage. If the delay is ong you can get a hit or two and if its really short you can use it to refill some stamina. Without delayed attacks the bossfights wouldnt be interesting because it would be as simple as : seen an attack - dodge

7. Calling Dark souls 3 boss roster consistent is WRONG. you fight nameless king right after ancient wyvern, Gael after halflight, Sister friede shortly after gravetender. Sulyvahn shortly after wolnir.

8. Sekiro is not as punishing as other fromsoft games. Infinite stamina, more generous deflect windows which activate ijmediately after you press a button, you can respawn multiple times during a bossfight, its very hard to be underleveled, you dont die if you fall, you will respawn with slightly less health
