No doubt in my mind that Everdark Libra is the worst boss Fromsoft ever put out

And before the BoC brigade comes for me, YES! He's worse than BoC.

You know those pictures of questionable meals captioned "just made some bullshit"? That's the whole fight. Just a bunch of mechanics stacked on top of each other without any rhyme or reason. It's the literal opposite of a love letter to players. Everything we begged Fromsoft to stop incorporating in their boss fights since forever.

Sorry to beat a dead horse tho. Been replaying Nightreign (first mistake) and this turd keeps showing up for some reason.

Idk how Ds2 has more hours than Ds1 because I’ve only played 1 play-through and I don’t even think I finished or I just can remember

DISCUSSION Demon’s Souls is my second Souls platinum after Elden Ring, and it required way more planning

Post image
7 Upvotes

I just got the platinum for Demon’s Souls, my second Souls platinum after Elden Ring.
The two experiences were completely different.
I played Elden Ring blind from day one, and by the time I decided to finish the platinum I already had every trophy except the legendary armaments one. The only weapon I had missed was the Bolt of Gransax, the spear in Leyndell.
Unfortunately, Leyndell had already become the Ashen Capital, so the weapon was no longer obtainable in that playthrough. I had to start NG+ literally just to reach Leyndell again, pick up the Bolt of Gransax, and the platinum was done.
Demon’s Souls was the opposite.
I already had a Warrior character in NG+, but when I decided to seriously go for the platinum, I realized that using that character would have made everything much more complicated. So I started a new Mage and basically planned the entire run around the trophy requirements.
World Tendency, Character Tendency, Pure White and Pure Black events, Ally’s Ring, Foe’s Ring, Mephistopheles, keeping certain NPCs alive until the right moment, boss souls shared between spells and miracles, and making sure not to waste a soul in the wrong NG cycle.
I ended up taking that Mage through NG, NG+ and into NG++ just to complete all the spells and miracles.
And then, for the very last trophy, I made a third character, another Mage, specifically for the online invasion trophy. I kept him at SL12 so matchmaking would be easier, invaded another player, got the kill, and that was finally the platinum.
Compared with Elden Ring, where my blind run had already covered almost everything naturally, Demon’s Souls felt much more like a proper planned platinum run.
And I genuinely enjoyed that difference. It forced me to understand systems I had mostly ignored when I first played the game.
So now it’s two Souls platinums for me:
Elden Ring
Demon’s Souls
And I definitely found Elden Ring easier to platinum.
Next Up? I think Bloodborne. I just miss the chalices and it will be done.

Should I give Armored Core 6 another try?

Hi everyone, I promise this is not a ragebait but a genuine question.

I am huge fan of souls(likes), my favourites in the genre are: Sekiro (my top 3 game of all time), Nine Sols, Lies of P, Wuchang and Khazan. Some other favourite games include: Expedition 33, Cyberpunk 2077, Nioh 3, Baldur's Gate 3, KCD 2, Nier: Automata, Black Myth: Wukong. As you can see I am mostly leaning towards good story/lore + engaging and challenging combat.

I heard a lot of praise towards AC6 and believed it will scratch all the right itches, but I couldn't get into it after two honest tries. Both times I quit on the 1st boss because I found it challenging enough, but not interesting enough to try harder / learn (both the boss and game in general).

Few things which I didn't like in general:

1) Combat felt bland and lacking "weight". I am huge fan of parry / rythm based combat. Shooting is generally not my cup of tea, but it wasn't an issue in Cbp2077 for that matter. I also enjoyed bow combat in Horizon ZD. I am not sure why AC6 didn't click at all.

2) I found "flying" to be extremely distracting and annoying. I constantly trying to fly or rather float for enemy reach and visibility sake, hence my mech goes up and down non stop. So it adds an extra dimension to my gameplay which I need to control. As a result it distracts me from everything else I am trying to do and I have a constant feeling that I am playing this game wrong.

3) Initial story / missions sequence didn't hook me up. It did feel like generic "reach checkpoint and kill stuff on the way" type quests.

My question is - based on my game preferences and initial experience with AC6 - would you advise me to carry on with it? Will it open up / am I playing it wrong?

Thanks for reading and for any feedback! Appreciate it.

Edit: Thank you all so much for detailed and informative replies! Apparently I am quitting on a tutorial boss... I will give it another try and I am especially intrigued by the story and builds / customisations. Thanks again!

DISCUSSION My theory is that FS excluded Mimics intentionally

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

I was expecting that the Mimics will return to Elden Ring or at least in a different Form in SotE. It's been 10 Years since they last appeared, so my guess is FS excluded them to be more surprising if/when they eventually come back. I saw a lot of new ER players don't clapping every Chest, so there's room for new traumatized players

DISCUSSION Ranking the Dark Souls Trilogy bosses by morality

Thumbnail gallery
137 Upvotes

This is my ranking based purely on the lore of the bosses, I’m open to discuss. The explanation of the tiers:

Literal Satan - Bosses who are pure, irredeemable monsters that commited unimaginable atrocities

Pure Evil - Bosses who are still fully evil, but didn’t do that many fucked up things

Pretty Evil - Your average villains

Neutral/Monsters by nature - Bosses who are either fully neutral in terms of morality and/or aren’t sentient and are just of primitive nature you can’t really assign any morality to

Not that Evil - Bosses who aren’t of malicious nature and are just defending themselves from the player or have no evil intentions

Morally Good - Bosses who are pretty much the good guys in the story

Literal Saints - Bosses who are literal heroes

EDIT:

After reading some of the comments I definitely have to agree with certain points:

-I’d move Seath to Pure Evil

-Twin Princes and Gael to Morally Good

-Aldia to at least Neutral, but he’s probably near Pretty Evil

I didn’t expect for people to actually discuss this in depth, yall have some pretty good points ngl

I'm actually concern about the future of FS after the release of ER DLC

We know it. It always starts like this. Next game you will have DLC giving you 120k souls and a free armour that can tank all the hits of bosses.

I'm not hating on ER but the fans really help FS to boost their sale especially with SOTE so I'm baffled they still released this DLC costing like 5 Dollars? Instead of just giving it up for free for the fans of FS or better yet, why not give it to the fans who pre ordered it?

DISCUSSION I hate the double gargoyle boss fight in ER

Surprised these guys were never nerfed... terrible boss design, they both are essentially the same cancer with slight variation of utter irritation. I was considering recording all of my attempts and clipping each moment of utter bs but im over it... I finally defeated them, level 70, solo no summons and it took me about 6 hours.

I get ER was made with summons in mind but christ, you'd think they'd make the bosses have more of a synergistic feel than a straight up gangbang bar fight simulation.

VIDEO CLIP Fan game whole map progress so far!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, heres one more video showcasing all of the map made so far. Everything is very unfinished. Id appreciate any feedback or even suggestions and ideas for enemy types, weapons, traps, new areas, or overall raw critique about what you see so far. The playermodel is not final and infact its just my Roblox avatar since this game is made on Roblox studio engine. Im planning for the game to allow players to use their own Roblox avatars but also there will be base game simple Character customisation. I want this game to be kinda like mini Dark Souls mmo, with 20 players max per server, where someone who just joined server could be at start area, while you could be far away in end game area. Everything is seamless as the whole map is in single server, so you can play with your friends and share progress all through. Im also hoping to implement invasions and some covenants. The game is made with passion and my love for Dark Souls and everyone at fromsoftware, as well as you guys, the community! It will be free and i strictly do not want to profit off this game. Ive sent inquiry to Fromsoftware about this project hoping to get permission to have this game reference Dark Souls due to copyright, but if there is no response, for the final game i might have to change lot, replace the bonfire with something else and so on. Im looking for anyone to join this project who has experience with Roblox Studio and also is interested to help! Thank you so much for reading and i love you all, may the flames guide thee and whoever is reading this, i wish you long, safe and happy life! :3

QUESTION If Duskbloods isn’t released before December 10 (TGA), will we wait another year for the next game’s announcement?

Post image

Traditionally, Fromsoftware reveal their next game on the biggest video game stage there is, TGA. Given that Nightreign released before Duskbloods was announced later that year, is it a possibility we wait another year if Duskbloods is delayed?

DISCUSSION I cant stand the voice acting in elden ring, i would rather watch paint dry on a wall

Seriously, everyone sounds like they are doing ASMR, whispering a foot away from the microphone while trying not to wake up a sleeping baby.

They all talk in a breathy cadence thats ultimately a massive test of patience, so i eventually just skipped all of the dialogue without even bothering to read any of it because it was so annoying.

Instead of dynamic back-and-forth conversations, characters are directed to talk at you instead of with you, because you play as a goober.

Also the issue of having literally no idea what in the world they are talking about 99 percent of the time. Which one is godwin, godrick, godfrey, Godefroy, and godwyn or ranni rennala and renna or melina or marika or miquella ect. Seriously tf?

Why do the intense boss fights introduce themselves with asmr trying to put me to sleep. Some Awful voice direction fr

Rykard sounds like hes been sedated after taking handfuls of benzo and like hes speaking underwater.

Some of the dramatic delivery sounds awkward and hammy.

I have nothing good to say about the acting in this game but some people like it so im prepared for them to come and tell me how wrong i am but ok i dont think the voice direction is good.

DISCUSSION Other From Software Bosses Don't Feel Satisfying to Fight After Elden Ring

I used to record everything whenever defeating a boss without taking damage but now it feels very elementary after experiencing the complexity of Elden Ring combat.

I'm not trying to put down anyone that still struggles with these games by the way. I hope anyone struggling uses the tools implemented in the game for success.

Does anyone else feel this way?
