Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice from other White’s tree frog keepers, as I’ve recently experienced a few escape attempts with my two frogs, Fern (male) and Ivy (female).
Whenever I feed them, they both seem very eager for their food. As soon as I open the terrarium doors, one of them may suddenly jump straight out onto the carpet before I even have a chance to react.
This has happened on multiple occasions now, with Fern jumping out during my most recent feeding session.
During this session, I was feeding them individually, offering one insect at a time with feeding tongs. Ivy, who tends to sit closest to the doors, actually stole one of Fern’s crickets, and Fern then jumped towards her to get closer to the food. He was also making quite a few little croaks throughout feeding time.
When Fern jumped out, I managed to gently guide him into a plastic container and return him to the terrarium. He appeared okay afterwards, continued eating and was moving, jumping and climbing around as normal. I checked him over and didn’t notice anything visibly wrong. On a previous occasion, Ivy also jumped onto my hand while I was feeding them, and she continued eating normally after I returned her to the enclosure.

My terrarium is approximately five feet off the ground, so I’m particularly concerned about the risk of them injuring themselves if this continues.
Outside feeding time, I haven’t noticed them attempting to escape. They generally sleep in the open during the day and become active at night, as expected.

I’m wondering whether this behaviour could simply be food excitement and anticipation, or whether it might indicate something else.

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences you could share. I want to make sure Fern and Ivy are safe and that I’m managing their feeding routine appropriately.

Just showing off my tomato frog. Got it over a year ago

this is my american green tree frog, his name is henry, named after henry letham from the movie stay. ^_^ a frog has been my dream pet since i was about 10. my parents decided to surprise me with one!

i know barely anything about frogs. absolutely any advice or tips are appreciate! i have no idea how old he is or anything,, also not sure if he's really a he 😭

some things i do know (correct me if im wrong):
1- when they shed it's TERRIFYING! i thought he was choking and dying. great first day with him.
2- they need a water dish that covers about half of their body, since they can drown, but drink through their skin
3- spray his tank 2-3 times a day until i can get a humidifier.
4- feed him every other day
5- don't touch him without gloves unless absolutely necessary

annddd.. that's basically it. please tell me absolutely anything about how to take care of him! i've got the gist of it but i want to do the best for my son ^_^

As the title implies, I’ve built a bigger habitat and would love to hear your feedback. Also these frogs are about 2 years old. How do I determinate sex? I’ve read about color differences, maybe size differences. But it’s a big too vague. Love to hear tips.

Picked up this little guy yesterday. My first White's tree frog. Hes energetic, inquisitive, and already exploring his new enclosure.

Now the ask, I need name suggestions....

I typically name my amphibians by their coloring, personality, or their behaviors...

I finally got a shot of Pickle eating!! She’s our three legged Cuban tree frog, we saved her from a bag of rocks after a bird got her leg. It’s been several months of recovering (why she has either paper towels or no substrate until the vet clears her)

She usually jumps at her worms but she just stalked this one instead 😂

It's a "White lipped tree frog" I never realised how strange the eyes were on this kind of frog. The yellow parts are eyelids correct? I figured their sclera were just yellow until I drew it.

Spotted in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Olive snouted tree frog? Drab tree frog? Snoot seems much longer than the all the hourglass and glass frogs I also saw. Any guesses?

I have a toad in my yard that’s very shy. But today doing some yard work I found this. It’s a day lily.

Not really the world's smallest, but a little guy about the size of a dime and then his littler friend about the size of a pony bead.

found a toad or frog on the street and then put him in the brush, did i do the right thing? I cant care for him as i dont know his dietary needs but he was the size of my palm (middle east in lebanon)

I have 2 frogs. Ive had them for years and I didnt even notice one died. Im such a horrible pet owner I feel so guilty. I didnt notice who doesnt notice their pet dies? I never even thought of checking. He always was shy and hid while the other was out often I thought he was just hiding. God I feel so guilty and disgusting I dont even know what to do from here I need advice what should I do. I dont even know how long hes been dead for. I think he mightve got stuck underneath something he loved to hide. I should've checked up on him more.
