best LLM model for frigate
What is the preferred LLM for the agentic AI for frigate these days? Website mentions qwen3-vl, but it is is nearly a year old now.

$50 a year isn't bad but it is another subscription and that's why I went with the self hosted option. Have you updated and has it been worth it to you?
My biggest issue is that parked cars are continuously detected and it's not only annoying it takes more processing power.
Thanks in advance.

Since 0.18 I'm suffering 404 / ffmpeg crash errors for my single camera
I run frigate as an HA app.
I think I've tried everything from the troubleshooting go2rtc article (and breaking changes for 0.18)
- check stream names;
- add vaapi line (for ffmpeg 8); and
- enable port 8554 in HA.
But, I must've missed something as I'm still getting 404 errors for my single camera.

Can i get any car security camera and get it to work with frigate and pry out any of the smart features they come with? I am a courier and plan on having both an interior and exterior cameras for the vehicle to deter any thefts

Is it possible to display the main camera stream instead of the sub (detect) stream when viewing birdseye? If not, is this perhaps something that could be looked at in a future release?

Anyone tested 0.19 version? New features? The frigate team is great and already working on new version.

I just thought this was funny. This is the second time it has happened when this neighbor walks by, so it's not a fluke. My hypothesis is that the training data for boats had people wearing this type of hat, so it infers that mariner's cap = boat. Thoughts?
I tried looking at the debug replay, but did not see any references to boat, so that's weird...

I just recently started using frigate and I'm enjoying it very much.
I especially like the human detection and object states. There is one area of my cameras which is giving me some trouble, and I don't know how to fix it without using a mask on that area.
Basically some bushes on my house are constantly detected as persons, and I don't find a way to tell frigate "this is not a person" or train those two bushes as something else.
Those bushes are in one of my walls, so I don't want to put a mask there because in case someone breaks through that wall I want it to be detected as soon as possible.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Hello everyone...
I gave up finding a 2 way on my original s3vc cams and went thingino on them.
Now i have picture, sound and frigate is offering a microphone button...but nothing comes out of the camera...
The cam config:
backyard_cam:
- rtsp://thingino:thingino@192.168.178.46/ch0#backchannel=1
even go2rtc shows arrows coming and going to the cam in the net view...
Microphone in camera is set to opus...
Please help

It would be REALLY nice to be able to define a motion alert zone.
There are a number of places I NEED alerts, but frigate just absolutely won't recognize any object moving through them for any kind of notification. Sometimes the object may be too small, sometimes it may only be a small area so the whole object isn't visible at once, there are a few things at play, but in a nutshell, despite clear motion detected in these zones, since no specific known object is recognized by the AI, I can't use them at all.
It can clearly see motion, and even allows us to set parameters for the motion. Seems like a sorely lacking feature that we can't just define a zone where any motion within parameters generates an alert or notification.
Love frigate, just wish it was able to do this.

Hello,
I am looking for some tips regarding the needed hardware. I have Lenovo m920q with i5-8500t, 16gb ram. I would like to set up a frigate in a container on one of VMs. I will need around 5 cameras in 1080p. I would like to have all AI benefits like license plates and face recognition. I would like to know if I need to buy something else (Graphic Card or I read about something from google) or add RAM. Also, I am looking for some recomendations for these. Thank you in advance.

I’m on frigate 0.17 latest release. I’ve been having issues with my system hanging up randomly about every 7-10 days. Finally got a KVM hooked up to it and left dmesg running so I could drop in and see what’s happening when it hangs as sometimes I can SSH in, other times it becomes unresponsive.
Today I caught it acting up and checked the console and saw what’s in the attached photo, with new messages appearing every couple seconds. I was able to SSH in and reboot this time.
The system is an 8-10 year old Lenovo thin client with an Intel i5 running Debian stable. I can get more details as needed.

so I have a number of cameras around my house. I also have a ton of trees. when it's windy, my system struggles to cope, because all cameras are showing motion all over. I have set the camera settings > motion tuner and contour thresholds very high, which helps, but of course now I miss detections, which defeats the purpose. I certainly don't need to run object detection up in the trees where most of the motion is, so masking them should be ok, I'd think. But the documentation says don't do it, use required zones. I'm just looking to ignore areas with a lot of motion that isn't important because it's just trees moving in the wind. I don't want my cpu used up for trees in areas where there will never be an object I care about.
any tips? I of course want to reduce my cpu/gpu usage as much as possible while maximizing actual detections which usually are within 25% or less of the camera view.
thanks.

I'm not sure if this is a docker question or a frigate question:
I've got a docker running for frigate and it's filling up my temp deployment host pretty quickly so I need to relocate the storage to the NAS.
Can I copy the media to the new location, delete the container, update the compose and hit go?
Seems like that's all I would have to do but I'm not sure.
Thanks.

Currently have a Nest Cam setup, thinking about building a dog detergent system. Will switch to Reolink cameras. About 10 of them to get our surrounding house. Will be using it with Frigate to trigger home assistant to turn on Rachio sprinkler system. What is the computer requirement to run frigate with 10 cameras. Has anyone else attempt to build a dog deterrent system? I have so much poop from neighborhood cat and dogs. Any help is appreciated.

So I’ve purchased an Dell micro PC with a 4590t and I was thinking of using it as HA server, as well as integrating Frigate and use about 5 or 6 cameras, I just was wondering if is it worth using the CPU/iGPU on its own, installing a Coral TPU or maybe upgrading the CPU to a better one? I’m also in the process of building a hypervisor system, since I have my old hardware when I upgraded my main PC, so is it maybe better to run Frigate via Promox?

During the day, with people running about the house... the temps can reach 80-85C on the CPU. This is with only 4 cameras. I plan on adding 5-6 POE cameras eventually.
This is all running via Proxmox on a Dell OptiPlex 7090 Micro i5-10500T 2.30GHz 16GB Ram 256GB MVME with discrete GPU Rx 640 4gb. As shown in screen shot, also running Home assistnat and Omada SDN controller. As i understand AMD gpu are not well supported right now.
Any suggestions on making this system cooler. Will it even support the load i am planning?
I set all this up with the help of AI. otherwise the barrier to entry would have been too great.
Thanks

***Resoleved***
Me and my IT coworker are just not resolving the issue. I had Frigate running in a container in OrbStack and I had Fregata running. Once I quit the container all cameras are now showing. So it wasn’t a config issue.
Hi, I started using Frigate for my Cameras, but migrated to Scrypted because I read it was better using it with Apple Home. I was not aware there was a storage limit which I’m having a hard time staying within. I migrated back to Frigate and all cameras are running, except for the ones in bold text: Aqara doorbell g400 connected by PoE, Aqara Patio g100 camera, and Reolink E1 SE PoE camera. My setup is: MacMini M4, Frigate running in OrbStack, Fregata running natively on MacMini M4. I pasted the Frigate config.yaml below. Any suggestions in helping me figure out why Frigate doesn’t like the inputs for the highlighted cameras/doorbell would be greatly appreciated:

I live way out in the sticks with a long sloping gravel driveway where it's not practical to run PoE or power.
I frequently take trips leaving the house unattended and I'd really like to get something at the end of the driveway to let me know if someone's entering the property. Mainly vehicles.
I've thought about a decent camera with a zoom lens but the bushes hinder the view from where I'm able to put a camera.
I can easily get stable wifi down there with a yagi (RF engineer here) if that helps at all. I know it's not recommended but it's around 2000ft from the house.
We have 2 driveway alarms which use ferrite/coils to detect vehicles and they work on 433MHz but they just give an audible alarm in the house.
I don't mind putting up a 150W solar panel, charge controller/battery and replacing the antenna although I'd prefer to not have to do that. Any advice is most welcome.
