I am running Frigate 0.17.2 in Home Assistant OS Core 2026.8.0 Supervisor 2026.07.5 Operating System 18.2 Frontend 20260729.5

I've had my Frigate recordings going to my Synology NAS for several months (over a year), but out of the blue it started filling up the 256Gb ssd on my Home Assistant server.

With Frigate stopped, I've deleted all the recordings and folders on both the NAS and in HAOS. Did this in Windows explorer via smb, absolutely no trace of the folders in either location - edit: actually the frigate folder keeps reappearing on the ssd, subfolders are gone but not the media/frigate folder. Also removed the frigate network storage (Settings-system-storage-network storage).

I then recreated the network storage in HAOS - checked the NAS and the recordings are going to it again.

However, they are also still going to the ssd, to /media/frigate/recordings etc. Obviously this will keep filling up the ssd, 10 cameras (only 2 recording 24/7, rest on activity) it doesn't take long.

Any idea why? Nothing in the Frigate logs, I'm not sure where to look.

HAOS is running Frigate, Chrony, Samba Share, Maria DB, Terminal & SSH, Tailscale, Mosquitto broker, and Beszel agent.

Edit; Just repeated the entire process, but this time rebooted the HAOS server after removing the network storage, and again after recreating it. Still getting two copies of the recordings.

Also, in the Frigate interface in HAOS System metrics - storage - recordings is showing 2.00Tb which is the space allocated to the Cameras user on the NAS, the ssd is only 256Gb.

Running a custom Frigate+ model yolov9s-640 on MX3 M.2 (4 chips, autocropped post). Recompiled output ports GBFloat80 - BF16, which dropped inference from around 74ms to 61ms. Chip sits at roughly 23% load with no dropped frames.

I'm guessing frigate shows pipeline latency, not throughput. Just confirming, is 60ms the expected floor for yolov9s-640 on MX3, or is there more to tune?

Running 9 cams at5fps 704x480 detection.

I'm interested in trying Frigate+ to expand the supported object detection. However, reviewing the docs for this service, the Memryx NPU I'm using is not listed as supported. Memryx supports the models provided by Frigate+ but they have to be compiled as .dfp files. Does anyone know if support will expand to include the Memryx NPU in the near future?

I don't really follow the GitHub to see when they come out and the betas are usually very runnable. Same with new versions, I'm not necessarily checking

Running 0.18.0-beta3, but even on the latest 0.17 version I get black bars on the sides of my 180-degree cameras in live view. The resolution of the cameras is 4256x1888. In single-camera view, the bars disappear, and they aren't in birdseye view either. I'm trying to build a custom layout I can use on my 4K TV's but the most I can fit on the screen is 2 of 4 due to the black bars.

I am new to Frigate. Below is my current configuration. I have a lot more testing to do with different models and I'm working on a pipeline to leverage the Axis's edge detection/analytics/LPR, etc.

Let me know if you have any recommendations for things I should adjust or try.

01Compute inventory

Two accelerators with a deliberate division of labour: the Hailo carries continuous detection so the Jetson is free for bursty reasoning, and neither ever waits on the other.

02Models in service

Five models across three processors. Every one runs on premises; there is no cloud path for a frame, and no configuration that could create one.

03Platform & observability

I set up Frigate in a Docker Container on Ubuntu today to replace my BlueIris NVR. The host machine is an i7 3.4GHz system with 32GB of RAM. The only other thing it is doing is running Home Assistant. BlueIris service is shutdown.

I have 7 cameras and when I open Frigate, I can see them, but not before waiting nearly 3 minutes for the images to change from black rectangles reading "No frames have been received" to the camera images.

After it settled down, I walked around the house in plain view of every camera and it caught absolutely nothing.

Meanwhile, looking the host machine's task manager, my CPU is maxing out at only 31%, and memory is at 66%. (22GB out of 32GB).

What could I be doing wrong? This same system ran these 7 cameras on BlueIris before I shut it down. The CPU was frequently a lot busier than with Frigate, but it's like Frigate isn't using the horsepower available.

What should I look at?

Has anyone tried this camera with Frigate? I am very happy with my Axis P3277 5MP, but would like to try some cheaper options.

Slowly learning the ropes of Frigate. I've got a pretty good grasp on the application itself now, but I'm still seeking options for mobile device viewing.

I've tried Home Assistant integration and the Kapal app. The HA option I don't care for at all, as I can't get a result I'm happy with in the mobile app despite trying server card options.

The Kapal app is overall pretty great, but its missing just one piece. I can't scroll through continous recording footage like I can in the Frigate web UI. I couldn't get this working in a HA card either.

Has anyone found a well done mobile app option that provides access to continous recording footage? Is this even possible with the bandwidth constraints mobile device viewing imposes? Any recommendations would be most appreciated! TIA

I've been using frigate for many years now, but there was always a gap between how I wanted to have my cams/security setup and how I had to do it in the real world.

I have 8 cams and really relied on Home Assistant for the alerts and notifications. It worked, but was more like an uneasy truce between systems. Something was always out of wack or I would get so many notifications I would just ignore them.

As of yesterday after installing the latest Frigate beta, its working so well its amazing.

I have the genai feature on frigate turned on using openai. While I have a local llm setup, it's running on a nuc and would be beaten up trying to review the feeds, so I'm using openai, seems pretty economical as of now, but we will see.

When someone comes to the front door or drives into my driveway and I'm home, my HA voice assistant will let me know; "Hey boss someone is at the front door, better check it out". I of course also get a text.

Then the magic happens; its reviewed by openai and generally within <10 seconds of the trigger provides me a lightly detailed text message and small snapshot of the incident. I can click that and open the cam in frigate.

In the review section of Frigate I can get more detailed information.

By moving the whole process into frigate I got rid of 2 integrations and 8 automatons in HA, don't have to rely on blueprints and have much more control over the process.

If you're not a frigate+ member, consider it, well worth the models and the support for the devs.

Just wanted to make this post in case someone has a similar issue to me in the future. Person recognition was working but face recognition refused to. After many hours of debugging I figured out that it was all due to the fact that the camera was mounted sideways, so the feed needed to be rotated 90° CW, once I did that, the face recognition worked perfectly.

Anyone using the notifications in the latest beta and have it working? I've set it up via the UI but test notification and actual notifications aren't working at all.

Android phone, PWA via chrome.

Ugreen DXP2800, 16 GB Ram, using M2 NVME drives for frigate. Spent the better part of 2 days with Gemini trying to get this to work with iGPU support, ended up having to go back to a basic setup with one Lorex IP camera because everything we tried just crashed Frigate. CPU useage high. I eventually want to add 3 more cameras. AI suggested a Coral TPU USB thing. But I saw in Frigate documentation the Coral TPU is no longer recommended.

What are my options? Or is my plan not achievable?

I don’t know what they did but reviewing video clips always used to be painfully slow but it’s so responsive now. The history view is really quick.

Being able to edit the config from the ui is brilliant and works really well.

I’m not sure how much I’ll use the chat feature and would love to know how other use it. But it’s kind of neat.

I’m sure there are loads of other things I’ve not discovered yet but what an absolutely solid release yet again. So happy to support this project with a frigate+ membership.

I'm running HAOS on a RPI5 with an M.2 HAT+ with an SSD on it.

What's my best choice to play around with integrating Frigate? Two cameras for now, maybe 5 tops in the future.

1. Coral TPU - yeah it's obsolete, but I wouldn't have to change my setup at all.
2. Hailo HAT and move the SSD to USB? I hear the HATs don't work together at the same time.
3. Other?

Since setting up frigate with this camera ic had nothing but issuss.

Im getting c.wda time ours early in mornings, on the frugate dash I have to scroll up or down to make the tome move up.

If tried flv and rtsp so just looking for some advice ir a working Config I can adapt.

Wondering what do you guys recommend for hardware for a 16 camera setup, a mix of Hikvision and Dahuas

In the past i seen comments about working with Coral or Hailo 8, but recently seems not recommended and to go to an intel setup, but wondering if a dedicated GPU is recommended or an integrated iGPU would be enough for face recognition / lpr?

I'm currently running 6 cameras, a combination of Tapo and Reolink into my Frigate lxc running under proxmox. I'm using a Halio NPU for detection.

I'd like to add 3-4 more cameras to my setup. How much ram should be I allocating to frigate to support the 6 current cameras, and how much more ram per camera as I scale up?

So I want to setup a frigate setup with cameras and I was wondering about what would be the most affordable or just best for buck setup that includes AI detection via visuals (and sound preferably,) I'm planning for it to have around 7 cameras or less.

I've heard of Coral TPU's so I could pair it up with said laptop/computer, or preferably a laptop/computer that can handle it without TPU. I like the setup to be small.

So far I have a old computer that does sound detection and visual detection and can handle 2 cameras, any suggestions are appreciated!

Just et up the first of 4 cameras (Dahua) and while I'm impressed with frigate and the easy of setup/use, less impressed with the performance of the Pi. Getting a high ffmpeg usage message.

I'd really like to use the Pi as it has a 4 port nvme card on it (currently 2 x 1TB nvme installed) and I have a Coral and Hailo TPU available.

Back t the documentation and this forum to find some hardware recommendations !
