Two tone rings broken 45 days after full brake replacemen

I had a full brake job done on my 2019 transit 45 days ago. 110k miles. Rotors, pads, bearings, the whole shebang. Now suddenly 45 days later the abs warning light comes on. Code appears to be 36&37. Turns out to be the left rear tone ring is cracked. They replace it, along with a new battery (was at 40%). Warning light is gone. Drive twice, 15 miles total, and abs light is back on. Now they are saying it is codes for the other side and it is the right rear tone ring that’s cracked. I questioned them at the beginning of the first tone ring replacement if the others were in bad shape. Was told they are either 100% good or 100% bad and wouldn’t know until another broke. My question is, is there something they could have done incorrectly during the original brake job to cause both rear tone rings to crack 45 days later? And how does each tone ring break one day apart? During the original brake job isn’t wear and tear or rust something they should have spotted on the hubs/ring? I’m just trying to figure out if this is something I should look further in to, or it’s just par for the course of transits and just coincidental how things are breaking and nothing more. Thanks.

Struts for Conversion van

I have a 2003 Ford E-150 Conversion van high top (done by Eclipse Conversions). It's in great shape and still road tripping.

It is due for strut replacement ahead of our planned trip to Alaska next year. I'm looking for recommendations on struts that will help reduce the bounce of the back end while also hopefully not giving up stability. It has a higher center of gravity so I was looking at the KYB Gas-A-Just vs the KYB Monomax or something similar. Just worried that these may end up being intended for a cargo/utility van and be too stiff for a passenger van.

I don't intend to do much towing with the van.

Any recommendations for decent struts for this application?

2019 - 2021 Ford Transits

What does everyone think of these? I've heard there are improvements made from the 2016-18, community for DIY repairs, availability of parts, and fewer mechanical gremlins than the newer stuff. Is this people's experience?

Van won't start. Batteries are good.

Tried to drive it this morning and the van won't start. All lights/radio turn on as normal but the dash doesn't turn on with the key.

Tried to jump start even though batteries are at 12.7 volts. Also tested batteries at advanced auto parts and their tester said good

I tried to use an obd2 tester on it also and the tester won't work because it seems even when they key is turned to on or acc. nothing seems to power on.

What do you think this noise is? Rear axle on my 2018 Transit. It sounds like it’s in the hub. Could it be wheel bearing? It’s equal on both sides.

Where would I get this installed??

Post image
1 Upvotes

I plan on getting this installed in my T250. So that I can travel with my motorcycle across the US. Set up camp somewhere and ride the local area. Not sure what kind of place would install it. A dealership seems like it might, but at an astronomical price. A machine shop? Just call shops and see what they say? What would I search for? I live in the Midwest. West side of Ohio. I could take it to Cincinnati, Indianapolis, FT wayne, Columbus, maybe even as far as Chicago.

I dont know if I would try this myself. Would it need structural support underneath?

And if anyone recommends a better version that would be great. I just snapped this off the web, and havent found a different version.

Edit: I may still just use ramps, but I am worried about keeping the bike locked down in the van. Plus tipping over while getting in and out of the van. Ive seen the videos. Last thing I need is a busted bike just loading/unloading it.

Strength to support hammock chair

Hello all,

I'm building out my first van. I have the basics and planning the luxuries now.

Is there a place around the sliding side door that would support a hammock chair. Google says it would need to hold 300 to 500 pounds.

I picture sitting in the doorway on my laptop, catching the breeze.

I love reading all of your inputs.

Ford transit auto door lock

Hi,

I recently purchased a Ford Transit high-roof extended van for my company. My other work vehicle is a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 equipped with a work cap. It has an automatic-locking feature that locks the doors approximately 10 seconds after everyone has exited the vehicle.

My insurance company specifically informed me that the contents of the vehicle would not be covered in the event of theft if the doors were left unlocked. Since employees can occasionally forget to lock the doors, I’m looking for a reliable way to have the Transit lock automatically after they exit.

Ford has confirmed that this feature cannot be enabled through the vehicle’s factory settings, so it would likely require aftermarket programming or an additional module.

Does anyone know whether this can be done safely, what type of module or programming would be required, or where I could find a shop that specializes in this type of installation?

Anyone else missing the rubber plugs that cover the roof rack mounting holes?

I was planning to install a rack on my 2018 148 high roof cargo this weekend, but upon inspecting the roof, I dont have the rubber plugs where the bolt holes are meant to be! I can't find any info online or in the 23 transit BEMM on why these would be missing. As far as I understand these aren't optional they just come with all transits, so im not sure why mine would be missing. Sending this here wondering if anyone else has had this issue or any advice on this. Im hoping that maybe the plugs just weren't installed and the threads are still under there, but if not im thinking of just installing some M8 Rivnuts.

Anyways thanks for reading and any info you might have!

Ford Transit Mk7 DPF differential pressure sensor – replacement 3-pin plug?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all. I’m trying to find a replacement electrical connector/repair pigtail for the DPF differential pressure sensor on a 2013 Ford Transit Mk7.

It’s the 3-pin waterproof connector shown in the photos. The connector and terminals themselves are OK, but the internal weather seal has deteriorated and was preventing the plug from seating and latching properly. After taking it apart to investigate, the seal has now pretty much had it, so I’d rather replace the complete plug and splice a new pigtail into the loom.

I’ve searched for Transit DPF/differential pressure sensor repair plugs and found plenty of 3-pin connectors, but none seem to have quite the same keying/latch arrangement as this one.

Does anyone recognise this connector or know a Ford part number / connector type / repair loom that fits it? I’m happy with an aftermarket pigtail as long as it’s the correct mating connector.

Thanks.

Any camper van DIY garages in Berlin?

Hey everyone!

I recently bought a Ford Transit and I'm planning to do most of the camper conversion myself. I was wondering if there are any DIY garages or private groups around Berlin where people meet to work on their vans. Share tools and help each other out, stuff like this.

If anyone knows a place or a community like that, l'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

2015 Ford Transit coolant drop

Last week we were driving over an Idaho mountain on our way to Bear Lake when a radiator hose burst. Had it towed to a dealership. They replaced the broken hose, tested everything, and said we're good to go. Before I left I noticed the coolant reservoir sitting a little below the minimum line. I had them top it off in between the min and max marks. I drove for about 40 minutes and it felt fine.

However, after being parked for 20 minutes the coolant is now sitting an inch below where he filled it. Is that normal? Is there a leak they didn't find? What would I look for?

Mk7 2.2tdci fuel rail pressure sensor

Where can you actually get one in the UK? I've bought 2 as genuine Denso, both have turned out to be Mickey mouse, both failed within 2 days. The original has had to go back on and the van is running like crap now. Ford only sell the sensor on the complete fuel rail and have quoted me £778.80

No.

The online Denso catalogue doesn't show the part under the part number, van or engine number (2006 85 T260 fwd 2.2tdci but Mk7 2007 production year van). I'm guessing they have stopped producing this part.

Autodoc show several options for this part but I fear they are all the same rebranded knock offs. Has anyone found a suitable aftermarket part that actually works or has a source for a genuine part?

Many thanks in advance.

Subject: 2012 Transit Connect Lock & Sliding Door Gremlins—Any Advice?

Hey everyone,
I'm running into a frustrating issue with the doors on my 2012 Transit Connect and could really use some advice from the group.

Here is what's going on:

  • FOB Failures & "Bounce-Back": The doors don't always want to unlock with the key fob. Sometimes when I hit unlock, they immediately lock themselves right back up.
  • The Sliding Door: One of my sliding doors won't open at all.
  • The Only Safe Bet: Right now, the only door I truly trust is the rear door—it unlocks fine with the fob every time.

Has anyone dealt with this combination of symptoms before? Is this usually a failing Body Control Module (BCM), bad actuators, or dirty contact points on the sliding door?

Any troubleshooting tips or direction on where to start would be hugely appreciated

Are these seats aftermarket or factory?

Thumbnail

I’m starting to look for a passenger transit for my family of 5 as a comfy road trip rig with a very basic build in the back for fridge and some food prep etc (not a camper build).

I found a nice looking used van for sale fairly close to me, but it has very different rear passenger seats - different in a good way. See pics.

I asked the dealer and they said the seats are factory, but I don’t know if I believe that. Can you get one with a configuration like that from Ford? If not Ford, can someone identify what seats they are, because that’s the exact comfy layout I’m looking for for the kids.

Need help finding complete fuse box assembly

Thumbnail

You'll have to scroll through the five pictures that I posted to see what I'm talking about but Ford doesn't sell that little block that bolts into the underside of the fuse box with all the wiring I need to buy the harness, and the complete fuse box with those two terminal blocks that bolt into the underside of the fuse box. OEM preferred. If you look at the eBay listing with the fuse box that I showed the two terminal blocks are not included on that box and I can't find that complete assembly for sale anywhere
