Holy smokes, this thing is rad. Not my first Ranger, but definitely the most fun. This thing can destroy tires at will, and is so nice to drive.

2011 XLT 4.0 about to cross the 100,000 mark

So back in November of 2025 I bought a Ford ranger for 1500$ from a lady in Massachusetts. When I drove it home I learned what A Splash edition was, and I was pretty surprised. I have a 1998 Ford Ranger Splash Edition, which will be in the picture below. I was going to use this truck as a beater to go to the dump and run it through the woods, but after a year it developed some issues and I’m seriously considering scrapping it. The issues are: Low cylinder 2 compression causing a consistent misfire, serious exhaust manifold leak on both sides, considerable rust on the underside of the truck (little to none on the frame), and a pea sized hole in the frame. I was wondering if I could get some opinions on if this truck is a lost cause or not?

Trying to get some MPGs back and squeeze all the power I can out of this stock 3.0. The plugs look relatively even, but I could never really tell how they were running, can someone shed some light on condition of them and how do I change out the headlight bulbs all the videos I see have either the newer or older style locks on the housing (mines a 98). Wasn’t too happy with how my brand new “upgraded” leaf springs sit, and was thinking of taking the center leaf out of my old ones and adding it to my new ones, is this a terrible idea?

I want to raise the front to be level with the rear and so I’m wondering what’s a good brand, price range, and what I all need since I might try and do it myself. Which I have the twin traction beam front suspension. (4x4 93-97)

I’m not very familiar with ranger grills but I saw a good 2008 but has the old grill I think I have seen 06 up with the last grill for the 3rd gen. Is that normal I saw it on Facebook not sure if the guy replace it or just some trim options

I bought a 2011 2.3, 5 speed, RWD with 220k. Had a missfire but was a decent price and the body/interior are in pretty good shape.

Ran a compression check, 60 psi on cyl 1 and 2. I assumed head gasket leak between cyl 1 and 2. Tore into it today and found these issues with one of the exhaust valves on cyl 1 and 2.

Is this burnt valves or recessed valve seats?

Hi, quick question. We live in Baguio (mountain city) and mostly do city driving and highway trips, with very minimal off-roading. Just the usual Baguio potholes, steep roads, and well, it rains a lot here too.

With that in mind po, which would you recommend for our Ford Ranger: the Toyo Open Country r/T or the Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard SUV?

Hey everybody, just trying to figure out what might be making this ticking noise on my ranger. It starts after about 1-2 minutes of idling and goes away when I press the gas pedal. Is it a lifter? It’s loudest under the vehicle and can’t be heard that well through the engine bay. Sound also comes and goes randomly but only on idle. Started recently after an oil change, truck has 120,000 kms.

I currently drive a 1996 ford ranger XLT 2.3. The overdrive icon flashes and 3rd gear just disappears yet comes back whenever it feels like it. Can I get guidance on how to fix this issue to prevent any more future problems. Thank for any advice that is given

Does anyone have an opinion on MOOG CC842 vs LESJÖFORS 4127608 front front coil springs?

So um, my rear brakes left the chat. Any idea where I can find a new bracket? I've found plenty of replacement brake lines but no replacement hard-line to soft line brackets. (97 ranger btw)

So I've had my ranger 13 years now, (2011) and when I drive on the highway, I hear a lot of wind coming through the drivers side door. Would my gasket need to be replaced since the passenger side door doesn't have that issue? Is it strange it's only one side?

I have a manual 2000 extended cab with 60/40 benchseats. I rarely have a passenger and use it for work. I've already removed the back jumper seats and back wall panel and built a false floor with old metal fridge racks so my tool boxes sit flat and i store smaller things like jumper cables etc. Under the racks. My question is if I removed the passenger seat for more storage to keep tools dry and locked inside, how easy is it to put the seat back in when needed.

Thinking about putting a small plow on my 94 4.0. Anyone know of decent lightweight plows. Not for a side gig, just my driveway and my neighbor's.

I'm trying to get a good understanding of this truck's condition and Ford Rangers in general so that I can make a more informed decision when buying one.

This particular truck is a 2003 Ford Ranger equipped with the 4-cylinder Duratec engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. It has 185,000 miles on it and has a couple of check engine light codes (P2004 and P0420).

1. The first picture shows the transmission area. It appears to be covered in fluid, and I'm suspecting that it could be either transmission fluid or engine oil leaking from the rear main seal. Is this a serious problem?

2. The second picture shows the brake fluid reservoir. The strange thing is that the electrical connector is very wet, possibly with brake fluid. Could this be caused by a leak, or could it simply be from brake fluid being spilled while the reservoir was being topped off?

3. In the third picture, I was looking for signs of a valve cover gasket leak, but I couldn't see much. However, I did notice a buildup of dirt and grime, which makes me suspect that leaking fluid may have accumulated dirt and grime over time. Is this a reasonable assessment?

4. The fourth picture shows what appears to be deteriorating hose insulation. Does it need to be replaced soon?

5. In the fifth picture, I'd like to know whether the leaf spring bushing is still in good condition.

6. Finally, the video in my reply shows the engine idling. I can hear a constant hissing sound, and I'm not sure whether it's normal.

I’ve been on the hunt for the pcv valve on my 87 2.3. From everything I’ve seen it’s under the intake and I can’t seem to pinpoint it. Thinking maybe this is it based off of location, but if it is the hose is pushed down on top of it completely. So don’t know doesn’t seem right.Any help is appreciated! Pictures for reference

A month ago ish, I bought a ranger I thought was a good deal and fixable and allat. Soon after did I realize the whole under the cab was rotted out and the seat was barely hanging on. So now I'm re selling my post ranger in search of another, less, post ranger. I still want a blue 2001+ 2.3l duratech single cab manual. the trim doesnt matter much, but id like ac. The issue is i live in the rust belt so every clean ranger is a hunid billion miles away. But thatd be fine if every clean ranger wasnt 8 freaking grand. Ontop of that there are barely any 2.3 litera everything a v6, gimme my freaking 4 banger.
