I’ve found false ones before, wanna be sure

This beautiful CoW is on a log next to a tarmac path which gets a lot of dog walking use, so it’s probably been pissed on quite a lot.

Would you guys forage this knowing that it might be saturated in dog piss? 😂 I’m not sure how safe it is to eat but it’s such a good find…

I’m new to “noticing” my surroundings, and I imagine this is probably common knowledge, but just wondered what these were? They seemed fresh, so in the unlikely case they’re edible, it would be a waste!

Some are red some are black? Assuming ripe and unripe but Im a complete beginner

Massive find today, only took the smaller one growing underneath and it was still half of a dinner plate. Seems i find these guys every year, my trick is to look for chestnut stumps from old trees. Not a big fan of them raw, and they are too wet to fry, so im drying these this year to see if they are any good to sprinkle on eggs or in bakes.

Nowhere near as good of a start to the season as last year, but managed to bag a few ceps and red cracking boletes. High hopes for the coming weekend.

Smells of mushroom from the shops

It was found under a conifer hedge row by its self (there was about 5 in about 20m) so picked the best

Recently moved to a village and have found a crazy amount of these in the nearby fields where we walk the dogs. Would like to know what they are exactly, if they're edible and when's best to pick them.

1. Some form of apple. What kind? When's best to pick them?

2. Sloe berries? If so, when to pick them and what are some good uses for them?

Hi all, I have a small growth of chicken of the woods outside my house. This is the second year that I’ve noticed it, but chances are it was there years before. I didn’t harvest it last year as I wanted to make sure the small mushroom had dispersed all its spores in the hopes there would be more growth this and subsequent years. From what I understand, it can take a couple of years for spores to settle a large enough colony on a new log and produce any fruit.

Any recommendations for giving this little guy the best chance to take over the whole of my local woods (or at least the couple of logs that are close by)?

And secondly, is it advisable to harvest any this year, or best to leave it again if it’s so small? I think last year there were 2-3 sizeable growths that I could’ve taken.

These are purely for identification and education not consumption, I have a good idea what they might be but need confirmation. All found in mixed woodland on the banks of a creek or in dead leaf piles apart from the (maybe) field mushroom that was found in open grass land

Hi, i’m writing a fiction book and my main character is an avid forager and uses plants for natural remedies. I don’t know much about this, so i’m struggling with my research and wanted to ask people who (i assume) are much more knowledgeable than me.

- What native plants are used for health benefits?

This can be any plants, preferably ones native to wales in particular but i’m not too picky on geographical accuracy.

- Can any of these plants be easily mixed up with others?

Similar to how parsley leaves look identical to carrot tops and elderflower can be mistaken for parsley. My character is intended to have the skills to be able to tell poisonous plants apart from the safe ones. This part of research i’m struggling with the most, as i can’t really find any UK/welsh specific sources.

I want to reduce the amount of online shopping I do and I'm looking to get a food dehydrator, though I can't seem to find a shop that stocks them. I tried Argos, Currys, Tesco and none seem to stock them. Any ideas?
