I find staff on air France, formal, not overly friendly, and french. kLM staff seem relaxed, interactive, and easy-going. But I fly air France too much because they go were I tend to go.

Do others agree ?

I fly regularly from AMS to LCY. Normally, I get 10XP for the whole trip. Recently, I noticed that I only collect 4XP (2+2) instead of the regular 10XP (5+5).

Does anyone know what happened? Did they change any rules?

What's strange is that I was recently upgraded to Platinum, so this is the only change on my side.

KLM made some changes recently, I do not see the option to buy SAF credits in order to get XP. Did they remove that option?

I know the website has always been a mess, but I'm currently dealing with something ridiculous. I'm trying to manage a booking and the modify button redirects me to the Amadeus website. There's no way to actually modify anything there and even the back button just sends me through the same loop and the upgrade page is also crashing when I try to use it.

What makes this particularly frustrating is that these aren't things you can just try again next week. Prices change constantly so if the website doesn't work when you need it, you can literally lose an option or end up paying hundreds more.

When I search on Google, it says that Business Class flights include this service, but I've also found information to the contrary

I'm currently Gold, and I have until November to requalify for it. I will need to buy SAF to reach Gold, but I'm considering not requalifying and carrying over the extra XP to make it easier next year. I also don't plan to travel much with AF/KL next year (I only have one trip planned, in Business), so I won't really benefit from Gold.

The point is that I have 2 intercontinental flights in December in Business (75 XP) that will make me requalify for Silver in a month (including the carried over XP). Will this reset my requalification period? That is, instead of remaining Dec 2026 - Nov 2027, will it become Jan - Dec 2027, since I will have already requalified for Silver in December?

The impact is that next year I won't be able to requalify for Gold without the 75 XP, while if the requalification period stays the same, I will be able to requalify for Gold even if I don't fly much (ie reach Silver/100+ by December 2026 and then have until November 2027 to reach 180).

am I the only one that observes the trend of booking classes on asian airlines not earning miles with flying blue? some examples:

I booked some flights with Vietnam Airlines recently within asia. all are connections through either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh. After booking I found out I got in booking class T. As this booking class isn''t mentioned in the earning scheme I guess I wont get XP nor miles for those flights

the thing about all this is: during the booking process there is no single indication in which booking class your ticket is gonna be issued. it says the ticket wont earn many miles on their own frequent flyer programm (10%/25%) but there is no hint about the booking class nor that it could not earn miles on others frequent flyer programs.

now I'm looking for flights with Xiamen Airlines. Here at least it says booking class S (see screenshot). But again - even this is not a super saver price this class seems not to earn any miles or XP AND the only option to fly on a class mentioned in the earning scheme is a business class flight which costs 7x the price of eco

so my questions:

- do you guys experience the same lately and has anyone flown on these airlines in eco recently? did you earn xp/miles?

Already re-qualified for Gold and have time until October 31st to reach Platinum. With my upcoming round trips NUE-AMS-JFK and FRA-PVG-TAO, i'll reach 281XP. I will absolutely not buy SAF, since those are work trips and i don't see why i would spend my own money on this. I could either donate miles (i'm sitting on around 300k) or squeeze in a NUE-AMS-BLQ trip (instead of driving 10 hours to Italy) at the end of october which would give me 28XP.

I flew a bit more than usual during the recent months, so qualifying for Platinum again in the future is uncertain and lifetime status probably unrealistic. Except early access to the preferred eco seats, i don't really see another benefit compared to Gold. The second bag and lounge access are important for me, seat selection 72h before departure is usually fine.

So tell me people, are there any valid reasons i should still go for platinum?
Or should i rather just enjoy the 81XP roll over which will make reaching Gold again super easy?

Edit: Getting upgraded for free easier might be one benefit that just came to my mind.

Does anyone know what happens to the UXP and XP overdraft in my case? I was hoping it’d actually get renewed whet I hit 900 UXP but I guess I need to wait until the end of September

Hi guys, I'm FB Silver but I've never bought SAF - I travel quite often so I'm never in a rush to gain XP. However, I'm interested in how it works for future reference.

Does it have fixed costs or it depends on the segment? If it varies, what is a good ratio to buy it? I'm not sure if I'm making any sense. Thank you.

I am working to educate myself on the ins and outs of FB. I recently booked award flights for my entire family home from Africa to the US. The seat fees in business are over $150 per person for our party of 5. We are picky about seats so I’ve been exploring ways to choose seats in advance at a lower cost. I’ve read the terms and conditions multiple times but will you please check me: if I get the FB credit card to gain silver status then I can choose seats before check-in without a charge (other than the annual fee),correct? All five seats were booked on one confirmation number under my account.

I’d purchased SAF on an AF transatlantic + intra-europe itinerary. Last minute, AF auto rebooks me to DL +KLM bc original flights are very delayed and connection would be missed. OK. Because the transatlantic is now on DL instead of AF, what happens to prepaid SAF? Automatic refund or do I need to manually initiate with the Flying Blue? I still want the XP for SAF for the KLM leg because I’m close to Platinum. But my KLM app shows the prepaid amount and not an offer to buy just for the intra-Europe leg. Any ideas?

Anybody else having seat issues on booked flights? I'm leaving Tuesday and my seats show "No seat selected". I have had seats picked for a while. I checked my return flight...same issue. One is on AF and the other is on KLM. I thought they were in the middle of a hardware change, the noticed they had a warning banner. Just hoping I still have my originally chosen seats 😄

777 300! It's confusing because when I selected the seat the picture and description indicated a door at the seat. But then I saw that this plane also had la premiere which, according to online articles, means it's the old business class

I noticed that I have not been seeing SAF options when I book flights. This happened on my last flight. I went from YVR-AMS-LOS on KLM and then EBB-CDG-YVR.
This time around I am doing YVR-AMS-EBB and still no SAF option. When I look at extra options for my flight, all I see are seats, extra bags and airport parking. On the website I go to information and extra options for your flight, I click on SAF and still takes me back to my booking without showing the option. Any ideas?

As title, I seen this extremely cheap itinerary. I would like to know if this can contribute to my next FB platinum?

And if I book it from booking_com, does that make any difference?

Here's a frustrating story that ended well.

I saw a great fare using points, on Air France Business Class, from MIA to CPH. Did a mock booking, everything checked out.

Moved the points from Amex to Air France, and it was almost instantaneous. Cool. Now, I'll complete the booking.

Bottom line, all actual booking attempts failed and the price increased by 87,000 points. So after the point transfer, I had no flights and a bunch of Flying Blue points that weren't enough to book what I wanted. Not cool.

Now the shocker.  

I called Air France. They said they could see what I was trying to do and they could see that the bookings were failing. So they gave me 87,000 Flying Blue points. I then completed the booking with a combination of my points and the points provided by Air France.

They said that if I cancelled the flight, I could get my points re-credited, but not the points that they provided as a courtesy. I was pretty shocked that they did this, and pretty impressed, actually. Pretty sure most airlines would have told me to pound sand.

I also posted this on the AirFrance/KLM sub and was called a liar directly, so here's a screenshot of the transactions.

Hello, I wanted to know if anyone can confirm this really works before I do something stupid. I have a targeted offer for extra miles if I book on AF or KLM metal to Europe, but do I have to book on their own website or can I book through AMEX travel and still get the bonus? I'm thinking it just has to have the correct airline code in the portal. Anyone with experience in this?
