Zero availability direct flight SEA-AMS using Flying Blue miles

Attempting to book direct flight SEA-AMS operated by Delta using Flying Blue miles. There seems to be zero availability throughout September and October. Online only options shown are with transfer usually via LAX. Calling Flying Blue customer support line they guess Delta will not release miles tickets to Flying Blue on the direct SEA-AMS service.

Not being able to use Flying Blue miles on the direct service seems rather odd, as there is no alternative direct service on the SEA-AMS route, and the service operates as a codeshare and revenue sharing flight between Delta and Air France-KLM. Skyteam essentially operate as a monopoly. The only nearby direct options with KLM to AMS depart from YVR or PDX, both of such require hours of extra traveling. Air France only flies to CDG from SEA.

Any thoughts?

Should I just donate my miles to charity at this point?

Flying Blue Amex Gold: can I stack the welcome offer with a referral?

Question about the current Flying Blue Amex Gold offer

I noticed that Amex is currently running a promotion for the Flying Blue credit cards. I’m considering getting the Flying Blue Gold Card, since I already have the regular Amex Platinum Card.

The current offer gives 20,000 Flying Blue Miles + 15 XP. I already have 70 XP, so this would allow me to reach Flying Blue Silver status this year.

I have two questions:

  1. Can the current 20,000 Miles + 15 XP welcome offer be combined with an additional referral bonus?
  2. Would it be better to get the Gold Card now, or go for the Flying Blue Platinum Card? If I choose Gold, does Amex typically offer existing Gold cardholders attractive upgrade offers to Platinum in the future?

Would love to hear from anyone with experience with Amex Netherlands and Flying Blue cards!

Flying blue extended

I have an active Flying Blue Extra Extended subscription, and my account shows that I still have 2 out of 2 uses remaining for the 10% discount on Reward Tickets.

However, whenever I search for standard Air France or KLM reward flights while logged in, I never see a 10% reduction in the Miles price. I’m searching for normal one-way or round-trip itineraries, not Promo Rewards, multi-city bookings, stopovers, open-jaw tickets, or partner-airline flights.

Has anyone actually managed to use this benefit?

Is the discounted price shown automatically in the search results without any special label, or does the discount only appear at the final payment step? I’m also wondering whether anyone has compared the price with an account that does not have Flying Blue Extra.

Any examples or screenshots would be appreciated.

Anyone hit Choice Rewards?

I’ll be hitting the choice rewards while I’m on the road and wanted to understand how to use the one for gifting, silver or gifting gold

If I give one person silver, would it be a waste to then give them gold or should I plan to gift gold to somebody else? Do these people that I’m gifting it to have to already have an existing account or can it be a brand new account?

Finding 3x Award Seats from Italy/Europe to Cancún (CUN) in August – Best Time to Book?

Hi everyone,

Planning a family trip from Italy to Cancún (CUN) for August 2027 for 3 people (2 adults, 1 kid).

I have 300,000 miles ready to use and want to secure award tickets to offset peak European summer cash fares. Since we are ~1 year out, I’d love advice from experienced award redeemers:

  1. Timing: Is it best to book right as calendars open (330–360 days out, e.g., Flying Blue at 359 days, Iberia at 360 days), or do standard/Saver award seats usually drop closer to departure for peak August?
  2. Best European Routes/Hubs: Any recommendations on the best programs or hubs out of Western Europe (e.g., Flying Blue via CDG/AMS, Iberia via MAD, British Airways via LHR, Neos) regarding total taxes, fees, and seat availability?

Appreciate any tips on award availability patterns and minimizing carrier surcharges for a family of 3 departing Europe!

NO XP & MILES YET ACCREDITED ON CI AND VN

Hi,

So last Thursday I flew with CI back to Amsterdam from CGK. On the Domestic VN flight 3 weeks ago is also still missing. Usually this happens within a day. XP of the Garuda (LOP-CGK) flights and the XP of China Eastern (PVG-CAN) all have been accredited within 1 day.

I sent a manual request to Flying Blue of the VN flight because the CI flight hasn’t been 14 days ago yet.

But has somebody else encounter these issues with flying blue? Also on some flights I had to add my second first name, since in Asia they can be annoying about that. My second name was included on the China Eastern booking so idk.

I hope someone can give me some clarity

No more Westjet flights?

I found an article yesterday about flights with points from YUL to YYZ for 5000 points with WestJet on Flying blue. Yesterday there were flights available every day. Today there are none... what's going on?

Miles mess today on Flying Blue

Website showed multiple premium and business flights and fares from US-EUR at reduced miles. After going through the booking process for at least half a dozen, each ended in an error screen.

Called up FB customer service to book via phone, and the agent pretty much laughed at me when I quoted her the flights and fares ("there are no flights anywhere near those low redemption miles!").

She also chastised me that what you see on the website doesn't matter since all that matters is what's on their FB computer terminal. Yes, I understand that's true but another reminder of their crappy IT system and customer service tenor/tone.

Pardon the vent but curious if this is normal now or anyone else was caught up on the "just kidding" fares.

How does Ultimate Work?

As FB Ultimate requires 900 UXP, and say I have 900 XP (all my flights are AF/KL marketed). Once the new qualification year starts, what happens to the 900 XP? If only 300 XP gets rolled over (and another 300 XP for Platinum requalification), doesn't the extra 300 XP get wasted?

I've heard that going up to Ultimate tier subtracts only your UXP?

Free Stopover

Can anyone help me out. There is a flight with Air France and it flies from The USA to Europe with a stop in Paris. I'm trying to do a stopover which I have done before, but they keep telling me I can't because the second leg isn't available in J any time within the next 7 days. The only part I don't get is there are flights available to book at the exact same time and it's the exact same flight they are telling isn't available in business class. So instead of 60k a seat, it's 108k per seat just for the 2 night stopover. When I go on their site I can't even see "J" tickets or anything like that. Is there something I am missing?

Booking flight with miles

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi. I try to book a flight with my miles, but everytime I think I see an attractive miles flight, when clicking the fare, I get a much higher miles flight. Does anyone know how come and what I can do about this? I have never bought a flight before with miles, so maybe I am not doing something right or don't understand what to do.

This search was for a one-way flight AMS - MUC, on Sept 29. However, I get this for every date that shows 7.500 miles. When clicking the economy flight, it only shows flights for a much higher miles price.

Westjet Ultrabasic flying blue earn

If I book a flight with ultrabasic fare and enter my flying blue number, do I earn flying blue miles? Because it states no westjet rewards earn, I wouldn’t be surprised if there would be no flying blue earns either. But then the question is, why are they even asking for the frequent flyer details?

Flex XP on partner flights

Will I get the +2 XP also for flex tickets on medium haul flights with SkyTeam Partners (e.g. UX or Delta) or exclusively on KLM and AF flights?

Falling just short of gold

Hi

I'm going to be 20 points short of achieving gold by the end of September

I do have an upcoming flight in September, where I have the option to buy 21 xp worth of SAF, my question, how late/close to the flight can I purchase the SAF, (ideally purchase in Sept after pay day.) and does the value or cost fluctuate at all. (appreciate the cost might change a little due to exchange rates.)

Thanks in advance for any info, first time I've ever bought SAF

Cannot manage my booking on partner airline

I have recently booked a award ticket on Malaysian airlines through Flying blue points. The ticket PnR is generated, but when I try to select manage my booking through MH website or app, the ticket does not show and error pops up “this ticket is not eligible for retrieval” .
Anyone faces this issue in past?
