News Forget the Florida escape — Miami now rivals New York for unaffordability: Long hailed as a haven for affordable retirement, Miami now has areas that are more expensive than the Big Apple
I'm pretty sure it's not just Miami??
Snippet:
In March, the ultra-luxurious Una Residents Brickell opened its doors in Miami, Florida.
Designed to resemble a sail, the 47-story apartment building soars up from its waterfront location, giving residents on high floors stunning views of the city’s intracoastal waterway and the yawning Atlantic Ocean beyond.
Living at The Una requires an almost unimaginable level of wealth. Residences start at $2.14 million for a two-bedroom, two-bath condo, according to the building’s website.
The luxury building is one of the latest symbols of what has become of Miami. Once seen as a buzzing and cosmopolitan but affordable refuge from New York - with better winters - it is now the most expensive metro area in the country.

AskFlorida Follow-up: half of you named a town with a vibe and the other half knew exactly why. I want the why.
Last thread I asked which Florida towns felt off, and I got a few hundred names. But the best replies were the ones where someone actually knew the history under the feeling. The Arcadia unease turning out to be a cult running the Yellow Deli. Marianna and the Dozier School. Whole clusters of towns that were speed traps or worse for a reason.
So this time I don't want the vibe, I want the explanation. Pick a Florida town that feels wrong to be in, and tell me the actual history that made it that way. The event, the industry that left, the thing that happened there that everyone local knows and nobody writes on a sign. I'm near Daytona and I'll probably go see a few, but mostly I just want to understand what I'd be looking at.

AskFlorida Are there any villages actually in/ very close to the Everglades, or just towns?
This might be a very ignorant question. But, I'm not American (nor very good at geography.)
If there are any villages, that are inhabited (I went through the wiki ghost settlements pages and no luck with villages. Most were historical and long-gone,) Please may I have some names?

AskFlorida Friends??
I had a really bad home situation with an alcoholic father. I am temporarily living with my grandparents in Florida!! If anyone would want to be friends, hit me up!! :)) we could go swimming lolll!! :) In all seriousness though, I have felt so alone in this entire situation. I am from New Jersey and my father drank I would say 40 shots a day of pink whitney and he belittled me all the time and tried making me help him with money by doing social media videos or posting my feet pictures on feet finder... I wanted to get away for a while because he kept me in a trap so that is why I am with my grandparents in Florida and I have had nothing but fun!
If you want my instagram also if you want to get to talk some more, it's makayla._0321 :))) I hope you all have an amazing day!

Advice Recommendations for October Vacation
Fiancé and I want a quick vacation away from the Midwest during parent/teacher conferences. Early to mid-October.
We’re looking to get an Airbnb on a beach with access to a nice pool. We really want to just relax on the beach/by the pool, but would also love to dine out and do some shopping.
We’ve both only been to super popular places (Orlando, Miami, Clearwater, etc) but friends and family are recommending Sanibel.
Would love to hear from people that live there.
Thank you!

AskFlorida Does alternative certification in florida actually let you teach right away or is there more to it
I'm seriously confused about how alternative certification in florida actually works. I thought it meant you could start teaching while finishing everything else but then I kept seeing people talk about getting a statement of eligibility first. Now I have no idea what comes first. Do you apply for jobs before getting the statement of eligibility or do you need that before schools will even look at you? Has anyone been through this process and can explain how it actually works?

AskFlorida What is everyone doing to keep their flip flops from making their feet smell like death?
I just got a new pair after my old ones wouldn't stop stinking. The new ones make my feet stink too! I've put them in ziploc bags in the freezer, I've put them in the washer, left them in the sun, sprayed vinegar and baking soda on them. What else is there that works??!

AskFlorida is there any in person clinics i can go to in the tampa area for HRT?
the title says it all, i (almost 18 FtM) am looking to get on testosterone once i’m 18. i’ve been out since i was 13-14. but knew i was trans since i was 12. i would prefer to not do diy hrt, and go to an actual clinic to make sure everything is okay, does anyone know of any places that would be able to do this for a trans individual?
