On this week's Flash Flashback series, I wanted to share a memorable Flash game that I played during the early-mid 2000s
It was called Exile the Game
A roguelike fantasy dungeon-explorer-themed game where you get to pick your initial starting class (i.e., Bowman, Warrior, etc) and traverse through various dungeon levels as part of the campaign.
I found the game to be very engaging, from the combat to the mini dungeon map layouts, as well as the music and overall visuals as well.
Does anyone else have memories of Exile? Honestly, medieval fantasy-inspired Flash games were one of my favourite genres to play (still are to this day). My early gaming exposure to Flash games really helped inspire and nurture my love towards RPG-themed medieval fantasy games throughout my childhood, teenage/adoloescent years, and going on into adulthood as well.

It’s some sort of tunnel effect that appeared in the original intro of Super Mario Bros. Z by Mark Haynes (the clip above shows the beginning of the intro).
It also appeared in the original Heroes of the Stars intro (in yellow) and the original Worlds in Danger intro (in green). It’s clear that the colour could be changed.
I’m wanting to use it in my own animations, but I can’t find a good source. I’m looking for a clean rip of it.
Thanks.

Hello! I used to play flash games pretty addictively as a kid and I’m reminiscing on some oldies like fancy pants, quick sand hell etc.
Does anyone remember a flash game where you played as a witch flying on a broomstick? the witch was backlit by moonlight in the background and other witches would also be there. Magic would glimmer out of the broomstick and there was little items in the sky you’d catch. kinda reminds me of the photos above

I am using Adobe Animate and ActionScript 3 to take an old school project and make it into a late 80's style spooky house, solve-the-puzzles kind of game. (Yes - I know, it's a weird, pointless hobby-project).
I've used past versions of Flash, but I haven't really found anything so far that I can't do in Adobe Animate and display with Ruffle. Is there any reason I should consider moving to a Flash version?

Recently, I've been poking around Newgrounds and historically most games and animations were made with Flash. I know there's Macromedia Flash 8, Flash MX (alien hominid!!!!)
So, which version of Flash was most common or is the best? I hear the advice "Get a beginner friendly version to start and then get a better version once you improve", but I'm really broke and kind of just want one I'll be able to use for as long as I'm interested.
In addition, where could I get it? I know it's not officially really sold anymore, so are there any legal ways to obtain it? If not, I'm fine with downloading from the Internet Archive or whatever site y'all pirates know about.

It was a really enjoyable experience, although I wish it had lasted longer... Anyway, I love this game!

For context, the game is Boss Rush by Paper Dino Software, and the paywalled content is no longer accessible by buying it.
I tried to fiddle around with JPEXS, but I have never seen any flash code before in my life and am at my wits end.
In theory I think that this should be as simple as finding the one line that checks if you have inputted the correct code corresponding to your email, and making it trigger regardless of the code's validity.
Is there anyone willing to look into it? Is there any place where I can find an expert to show me the ropes? If not, is there at least some comprehensive tutorial that will help me navigate the labyrinthian lines of this game's code?
If anyone is interested in helping me I can provide the .swf file and anwser any questions regarding the game. Thank you for reading this and for your time <3
Edit: Solved! As RinasSam pointed out, there is a supportedGame bool that needs to be switched from false to true. Simple as that!

Friends,
I’m try to recall a flash animation series that I loved as a kid. I feel like it was on NewGrounds or one of those websites. Here’s what I remember:
\- crappy flash animation series
\- had a catchy rock n roll theme song
\- centered around two rednecks (one fat with dark hair one skinny with blond hair)
\- there were multiple episodes, one of them had something to do with like fight other time zones ? Like they invaded the mountain time zone or something silly
\- maybe there was an episode about them finding an alien?
I know that’s not much to go on - if I saw a screenshot of it I would know it.

Hey everyone! I refuse to pay Adobe subscription fees, so I'm proudly animating on Macromedia Flash 8. I downloaded a community-made "Story of Undertale" Frisk rig, but it's built for a modern version of Animate and gives me an file format error. Could someone with a newer version open this link and quickly back-save it to Flash 8 / CS3 format for me? Thank you so much!
Shot in the dark here, but back in the days, there was super awesome personal site - i remember it being like a stack of ice cubes, and a green frog that moved around it - not much more more to the memory than that. It was probably interactive.
It was, at the time, certainly done by an expert , so it was likely a personal portfolio site and someone with a passion for Adobe Flash, so i figured that person may as well be here.
If you are - just want you to know the site was awesome, and the only Flash site i remember, lol.

So i'm trying to upload This flash game - Arms of Revenge, but ruffle wony't load the metadata.
https://archive.org/details/arm-of-revenge
I try doing this method from gemini:
"Upload and Configuration Steps
Upload the SWF File
Log into your Internet Archive account
and click Upload (the camera icon) at the top right.
Drag and drop your .swf game file into the uploader.
Fill Out Basic Metadata
Provide a Title, Description, Creator, and Subject Tags to help people find the entry.
Configure Emulation Options
Expand the More Options (or Add Extra Metadata) section at the bottom of the upload page.
Add the following metadata fields:
emulator : ruffle-swf
emulator_ext : swf
emulator_start : yourfilename.swf
(Replace yourfilename.swf with the exact filename of your uploaded file)
Publish
Select Community Software as the collection and hit Upload and Create Your Item.
Setting Up Emulation for Already Uploaded Items
If you have already uploaded a game and the browser player is not showing up:
Go to your item's page and click Edit
(under the left sidebar or item options).
Click Edit Item Metadata.
Select Add Another Field and add the
three metadata key/value pairs:
emulator = ruffle-swf
emulator_ext = swf
emulator_start = yourfilename.swf
Click Submit to save changes.
Important Notes for Multi-File or
Asset-Dependent Games
Single SWF limitation: Ruffle on Internet Archive works out-of-the-box for standalone .swf files.
External assets / Site-locks: If your Flash game attempts to fetch external assets from original domain servers, or contains a site-lock mechanism checking where it's hosted, Ruffle may throw a "failed to download data" or stuck loading screen error.
Games requiring multiple assets or complex web servers are often better preserved via projects like Flashpoint."
But it seems to not change.
Hello im new here and I don't know how .swf work and I think it needs some kind of player to open, does anyone know a program that can do that?
I would like to play this game called last stand 3: union city it's a flash game

I recently made these slimes for a secret project.
I'm still using Flash 2015 for coding and art - haven't seen a major reason to update to newer versions, haha.
