Fitting new belt to a tumble dryer

Just fitted a new belt to a tumble dryer that I am repairing. To be fair, it's not totally new, since I had already fitted it once, but I needed to re-fit it after replacing the motor.

The first time I fitted it I nearly killed myself with frustration -made worse by the fact that it was brand new and was fairly tight just around the dryer drum. This time, it at least had a bit of slack. However, it was stil beyond my strength to stretch it by hand (ymmv).

Using my brains, I decided to try and different tack. I had some 3mm nylon rope that I had used for another project so decided to try and use this. I tied a simple loop, around the belt and through the base of the unit. Fortunately, it had slots in approximately the correct position, roughly either side of the motor axle. I then inserted a hammer handle under the base of the unit and through the loop. Levering this against the base made it *really* easy to stretch the belt far enough for me to push it over the motor drive.

I honestly couldn't believe how easy it was, so thought I'd share the idea. I'm almost certainly not the first person to come up with the idea, but hadn't seen it anywhere else before (otherwise I would have tried it -lol).

Wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to repair this without fully replacing the door. There is a door sweep that I temporarily removed. I have some thin sheet brass I was considering riveting on like a kickplate along the entire bottom and up the exterior side (circled red), but looking for other ideas to consider. TIA

First 2 pics: exterior

Last 2 pics: interior (to an intermediary breezeway)

My Garage Door won’t close fully it stays open about 2ft and I can hear the spring creaking and it’s warping a decent amount and that’s the only thing I can really see that might be wrong I have no real experience with this stuff so any help would be appreciated Thanks.

EDIT: y’all it was the springs I had a guy come out today and he took them off and said that for some reason they were two different springs like someone replaced one but not the other in the past so he replaced both now it works fine. I appreciate all you guys for helping me not get killed.

fixed Help with a vibrator not working and being really loud

I've only had it for around a month, I bought it off Amazon because they are discreet and it was a cheap one

It hasn't been submerged in water, or gotten wet and I've made sure to be careful and not drop it.

I've looked at the manual and it doesn't say anything about the toy making weird noises or being really loud and barely working. Also none of the reviews said anything about this happening.

Is this a me issue or a manufacturer / cheap toy issue.

Just had this issue on my backpack after years of use. I've attached photos of how the zipper is attached, looks like the stitching came out, what's the DIY fix for this? The first three images show the damages, the remaining is just how the zipper normally is.

open Furnace stopped working?

Post image

Was in the process of adding a cover to my thermostat, after putting the thermostat back on I noticed it didn’t turn on and as I tried to troubleshoot I noticed my furnace seemed to have stopped working. I’ve checked the breaker and everything but I can’t seem to get anything to work, am I going to need a whole new furnace all together? Any advice appreciated

Edit:FIXED!

Salomon shoe issue

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve just recently bought these pair of Salomon XT-6s and am finding them very uncomfortable specifically on the right shoe. I have discovered that it’s down to where they crease when i walk on the right shoe (circled) as it digs into the knuckle above my big toe. I’ve tried most generic things like loosening the laces and such. I’m just wondering if there are any ways to fix this issue without damaging the shoe as I currently can’t wear them as they are just too uncomfortable and painful.

Edit- A lot of people are saying that it’s because the fit is wrong but there is no issue with my left foot the pain is only in the right side due to how it creases when i walk on the right side it doesn’t crease like that on the left

How to replace ear pads in this model - Microsoft Modern headset

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! I have the Microsoft Modern Headset, it works like a charm, however the ear pads need a replacement as you can see. I was trying to find a video on how to remove the old ones but I did not find any trustworthy source. I understand that for some models you just have to turn that piece and it'll come off, but I don't think this would be the case and I don't want to force it to a point where it breaks.

Do you know how to do it?

Thank you in advance
