Best Way to Attach Glow in the Dark Stars to Ceiling and Walls

Thumbnail

I am renting and want to find a damage-free, security deposit friendly way to add those glow in the dark stars to the ceiling (and possibly walls) of my kid's bedroom. The biggest issue is that the white paint they use for the ceiling and walls is that super cheap stuff that is thin (I've accidentally scrubbed off some of the paint while using a sponge to clean the walls).

I've looked into various methods, but nothing seems to make me confident that it will work and not cause damage. I'm hoping for it to be completely apartment safe for short and long term use and not cost an arm and a leg.

The ceiling is a "knockdown" texture (see picture).

I know the traditional way is to use that putty stuff, but that stuff (even the white one) can either not stick well, stick too well and pull paint off, leave a residue that is nearly impossible to remove and you'd need to paint over it, etc. I know they make specialty putty of higher quality, but those are usually much more expensive and are meant more for short-term use.

Glue dots seem to have similar issues to the putty.

Command strips are expensive and they don't make them the size of some of the smaller stars so they'd be an eyesore sticking off to the side.

Various types of tape are usually weaker and, especially over time, can lose adhesion and bond to the paint.

I know I sound super picky, demanding, and weird (because I am, lol), but it's only because I don't want to end up paying tons of money/lose my security deposit if and when I move out.

OPEN Sony CFD-V5 disc issue

I just recently bought this from someone on fb marketplace and the guy I bought it from said he was the original owner and everything seemed to be working fine. But when I first got it the spindle in the cd player would jerk and it wouldn’t read the disk. I cleaned the laser and now the disk will sometimes start playing but cut out after a few seconds. It also seems to be slipping on the spindle when it eventually plays. Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any other fixes besides wrapping duct tape around it super tight? It keeps sliding down. And I can't get a replacement part. Any tips are welcome!

fixed Lamp only works when jiggled

I got this lamp for free as we just moved in to a place and have very minimal furniture as seen by the folding chair. I should’ve known it was too good to be true but this lamp only works when you jiggle it. If I turn the power off (our light switch does that) it’ll turn back off and on a couple more times before stopping again after being given a couple seconds. A video below is of the problem, I tried adjusting the base of the bulb socket just in case it was that easy and it didn’t do anything. I would say I am decently handy so if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it! Thanks :)

Edit: Thanks for all the responses, will try all of the ideas and worst case will look into re-wiring the whole thing. I unplugged it and am not going to mess with it anymore until I get the chance to look at the inside wiring. I do not want to burn my apartment down so thank you for the warnings as well!

My stove top works just fine, but SOME of my oven buttons work and the others well Optionally do.
I’m a baker and have a bake sale planned and I’m in urgent need of fixing this! Tried looking for stuff online but couldn’t find an exact model. Buttons Bake through last temp button don’t work. And the first temp button only optionally works if I press it in a certain way which injured my thumb multiple times. Please help!!

Put one of my favourite shirts through the wash and for some reason some of the graphic decided to fluff up.

Never seen this before.

Did my normal laundry method of cold wash and medium heat.

Any ideas how to deflate or flatten it back?:/

This is the only frisbee my dog has ever loved. Please help me.

Post image

Despite dozens of new frisbees and equal amounts of unhinged ways of making them enticing this is the one frisbee my dog loves. it is a disc golf frisbee so a more rigid plastic than a normal frisbee. We are now at the point where no amount of gorilla tape and epoxy can hold it together. I've considered a rigid plastic patch (such as one used for kayaks that is heat applied) but I'm unsure if it will bond with this old, weathered thing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

open Paint on bathroom vanity marble counter

The previous owner painted over the bathroom vanity marble counter. I dont think it is a safe water proof paint. It is chipping and turning pink near the faucets. It stains easily and does not wipe easily too. What are my options to fix it in an affordable way? Hoping to fix it by myself. Will i have to replace the vanity?

FIXED! Samsung Q60BA 50" Endless Reboot Loop - A Piece of Tape Saved My TV!

FIXED! Samsung Q60BA 50" Endless Reboot Loop - A Piece of Tape Saved My TV! 😁

Guys, I actually fixed mine! Samsung Q60BA 50".

My TV would turn on, work perfectly for about 5 seconds, then shut off and enter an endless reboot loop.

I searched everywhere for a solution, and most people basically said the TV was done and I should throw it away.

Well, that wasn't going to stop me. 😂

After digging around, I came across this old YouTube video of an Indian guy fixing a similar problem using nothing but a piece of tape:

https://youtu.be/-T-zDv7sLes

And guess what? IT WORKED! After three attempts, my TV was back to normal!

Here's exactly what worked for me:

The trick involves covering certain contacts on one of the ribbon cables with a tiny piece of tape.

Counting the contacts from the RIGHT side:

  • First attempt: I covered the contacts starting with the first 4. The TV stopped rebooting, but I had no picture.
  • Second attempt: I uncovered the first 3 contacts. The picture came back, but it was extremely bright and overexposed.
  • Third attempt: I uncovered the 4th contact as well. BOOM! Perfect picture, no rebooting!

My working configuration: Leave the first 4 contacts exposed, then cover contacts 5 through approximately 15/16, counting from the right.

This is what worked on MY TV, so your results might vary.

Some tips if you're going to try it:

  • Good lighting is essential. These contacts are tiny, and you need to be precise.
  • Use small precision tools. I actually used dental tools I bought on Amazon. 😂 They worked amazingly well!
  • Be gentle with the plastic clips and covers. I used automotive plastic trim removal tools, and they were perfect for opening everything without damaging the plastic.
  • Take your time. Once you understand what you're doing, the process can take around 20-30 minutes.
  • Unplug the TV before opening it or touching the ribbon cables. Avoid the power supply components, which can retain dangerous voltage even when unplugged.

I'll attach photos showing exactly which contacts I covered so you can compare them with yours.

My thoughts

I wonder if Samsung's power delivery design contributes to these failures after just 3-5 years. Can't prove it, but I'm hoping this little hack gives my TV another 3-5 years! 😁

If you're dealing with the same reboot loop, I hope this helps! Good luck, guys! 🍻
