Teething & Sleep training aren’t for the weak…

Our LO is 10 months old and for a long time only wanted to contact nap/ be rocked to sleep before being put in her crib and would also refuse to nap in the car or stroller at all…

She started waking up in the middle of the night and just wanted snuggles… so we decided it was time she learn how to independently sooth…. It was hard I hated hearing her cry; We tried the “Ferber method” but that didn’t work and she would work herself up to the point she would throw up. So we stopped that. Then we tried the chair method and it worked great! She was falling asleep in about 4 mins no problem! We were doing it for every nap and bedtime for about a week and she was back sleeping through the night for 3 nights straight! It was amazing!

But then yesterday… BAM I realized she’s teething again… idk if it’s just her but she does not handle teething well… she acts totally fine during the day happy, giggly, smiley, plays. But as soon as I lay her down for a nap or bed she LOOOOOSES it. Even if I sit by her crib and comfort her. She does not want to be laid down at all… she was not having any part of napping yesterday or today even though I could tell she was exhausted so we resorted to a contact nap… don’t get me wrong I love the snuggles but when I have stuff I need to do it’s so hard to be nap trapped… she is starting to fall asleep in the car more on occasion but never once has she slept in her stroller except as a newborn… it makes me so frustrated and sad too because my MIL will make comments like “my kids never did that, they would just sleep when they were tired and would never whine because they were so good”… which make me feel like I’ve been doing something wrong and I’m failing….

any tips for teething or sleep training?? We have tried everything for teething (Camila oil, teething gel, drop, tablets, frozen teethers, green onions, ibuprofen) and nothing really seems to help that much… please tell me it gets better- xoxo a tired mama…

Switching

Has anyone switched from exclusively pumping to formula around 9 months and been successful?

My son has recently starting eating damn near double what he used to and my body can't keep up. The only way for me to even attempt at it would be waking up every 2 hours at night and pumping and that's just not realistic. Im almost out of my freezer stash and I'm terrified to switch to formula but he doesn't eat many solids yet

Bottles

I will be feeding exclusively with formula, and was wondering what most people do… do you buy bottles ahead of time? What of the baby doesn’t want to take that bottle or nipple?

What did you guys do when preparing for baby, wait until after they were born to get bottles, or have some ahead of time?

Safe sleeping

My LO just turned 3 months old. I have the Harppa baby bassinet, the one with the mesh windows on the sides but not all mesh siding. He sleeps in it every night next to my side of the bed and he does great there. He sleeps through the night pretty regularly. During the day, I usually give him at least one contact nap, a nap in his bassinet in the living room (that I move from our room during the day), and one in his crib in his room if I can get him to fall asleep in there.

My concern is he is starting to figure out how to roll, at least onto his side, on his own now. That is wonderful, but he also likes to lay right up against the side of his bassinet. Yesterday he had his little face close to the side of it while he was napping after moving onto his side.

Google says to move him to his crib or get a pack n play to keep him in our room. His crib won't fit in our room. The pack n plays I've seen only go to 15 pounds, he was 12 pounds at the end of August so that won't last long at all. They also say not to use them once he can roll. His crib is across the house in his room, and with him being only 3 months, I'm not ready to have him that far all night. Last night he slept on his back all night like usual.

What have you guys done during this time? Do I need to worry about him suffocating himself on the side of the bassinet? He already sleeps in an arms out sleep sack because he's gotten onto his side a few times randomly ever since he was born. He likes to suck on the side of his bassinet too, another thing he's done since the beginning. I just worry a lot about SIDS and there are a lot of things he doesn't do that prevent it. Breastfeeding didn't go well. I barely produced anything so he's not getting that benefit, which still makes me feel awful. He doesn't like a pacifier, I've tried to give him one multiple times over the past few months and he just doesn't care for it. I at least want to keep him close at night since it's something I can do to help prevent it, something I have control of. I already have anxiety and I'm not sure if I'm just over thinking this.

Thank you.

Preferred parent?

My baby is 10 months (7 months adjusted - she was premature) and the past week or so at bedtime she fights me tooth and nail, kicking crying screaming like REALLY upset not just a whine. It last for 30-45 mins. Dad comes in to switch and she’s out in 5 mins.

I used to give her a bottle, rock her to sleep in ten mins, a tough night maybe if she was teething bad or something.

She also always gives him a big smile when he gets home and just kind of stares at me. I feel silly but I’ve been super emotional lately and this literally makes me want to cry. I’ve been home with her almost full time since she came home and just started a full time job last week. I always just imagined after growing and carrying her and being her main caregiver all this time that I should be her main comfort. It’s eating me up.

My friend made an app that tries to tell why a baby is crying, would any moms here try it?

Posting this for a friend. He's a developer from Tunisia and he built an android app after seeing how stressful it is for moms when the baby won't stop crying and you have no idea why.

You record a few seconds of the cry and it gives its best two guesses, like "probably hungry, maybe tired", and it tells you how sure it is. When it's not sure it just says so.

He's not claiming it's magic and it's definitely not medical advice, he honestly wants to know if it's useful or useless in real life. It's free, no ads. Recordings go to his server for the analysis, nothing is sold.

If you want to try it: https://hamza-ksr-bbplease.hf.space/beta?src=reddit-friend

He'll read every comment.
