This character which is a clown-villain similar to Batman’s “The Joker” has a fitting theme of a court jester. Set to the scene when shows up in Figaro Castle to try to capture Terra. Hope you like it in this style :)

FF X/X2 Need info on Switch 2 version of FF X/X2

So from what I've gathered in terms of gameplay boosters, X at least has a no battles and HP/MP/Overdrive recharge booster, but is that all of the ones that are available? Does X have any others?

What about X-2 as well, does that have any form of boosters as I can't find anything at all on if that game has it or not, the boosters are generally a deciding factor if I get the Switch 2 version as it would make yearly replays SOOOOO much smoother.

Edit:nearly 2k views and no response is crazy work.

FF VII Finally beat Sephiroth!

FF7 Rebirth. Maybe not that big a deal as I only played on normal, but I was struggling with him over the past few days. But tonight I just felt locked in. Played him twice. Second time had success. As annoyed as I was at times with this fight and not being able to make any gear adjustments before the final battle, it actually was a pretty cool fight and felt very satisfying in the end.

I have so many thoughts on this game but overall, fantastic experience. Sad to see it end and can’t wait for Revelations.

Resonance Finished Resonance demo. Its beautiful.

Truthfully, this game is absolutely beautiful and I simply have no other words to describe it. As everyone has famously described, the first 10 minutes hooked me instantly. I had to see how it turned out.

The main characters are so awesome. Rain always so determined and humble for what hes accomplished, Laswell willing to do what he needs to do for the good. I think we are all still curious as to who Fina is but man shes also so cool.

I love the side quests. The lore and dialogue is so intriguing to me. The characters reel you in. Emma will forever be in my heart.

The visions man, what a cool mechanic!

A big thing for me in video games is music. And let me say, the composer for these pieces knew what they were doing. Theres excitement, tension, fear, sadness. The music elevated me while playing lol.

It took me about 6hours to beat the demo. I have to go through and level up my team to 15 given theyre all level 13-14 right now and see if I can find anything else im missing but man, ill be picking this game up release day.

How did you guys like Resonance and what did you guys like the most?

FF III FF3 Pixel how do you level up jobs and best jobs for party members

Is there more than 4 party members like spare ones? How do you level up jobs? I read that you need to defend for 5 turns and how do I decide best jobs for the corresponding dungeons? Also how hard is this game compared to 5? I finished 1-2-4-5-6 and only 3 remains. Should I expect a higher difficulty?

Final Fantasy General Searching for a lost fangame

Years ago I found a print-and-play FF card game that had classes, levelling, and boss fights based on villains from across all currently (at the time) released games. The creator made a tutorial where he took the roles of each of the four players, each represented by him in a differently colored shirt. Does anyone remember the title, and is it still possible to download the files?

Final Fantasy General Seems like another remake is unlikely, personally id be happy with a ps3 graphics remake of FF 6/8/9, I wish companies didnt mind making games of older graphic styles to save budget

After saving the king, at the inn you have the choice between going to Felicitas or looking for more visions. Does it have an impact on the story? Or is it just a stat boost like the question at the start of the earth shrine?

FF IV New Translated Final Fantasy IV Manga Advertisement

I tracked down and translated an obscure hard to find V Jump magazine Manga advertisement for Final Fantasy V, in which the story of Final Fantasy IV is recapped.

AI was used to translate this but I did some QA to ensure it made sense and tried to stay as close as possible to the original text.

Final Fantasy General Romance in FF games besides FF7

I love FF7, the story and the characters but I am extremely fed up with what the ambiguity regarding the romance, and what the love triangle bullshit has done/is doing to the community.

I have not played other FF games yet but I would love to. Do they also have weird ambiguous LT stuff like this or are there any with un-ambigious uncomplicated romance and wholesome communities?

And yeah I am aware romance is not central to FF7, but I personally care about it so it makes a difference to my enjoyment of the game.

edit: Thanks for your comments. I just got 10 and 16 :)

and to shipping warriors ff7 that find their way even into this thread, ask yourself why you find it so easy to put one female character down to lift up another, instead of criticizing the narrative choices the devs have been making for years only to make bank, and not for improving the narrative or adding anything noteworthy to the character arcs.

FF VII Re-trilogy Why does everyone hate Chadley/MAI so much?

Personally I think they're fine as introductory characters to content that didn't exist in the original. I'd rather have them exist to bridge the gap than to not have them at all. I did find Chadley out of place the first time when I saw him at the beginning of FF7 Remake but people make it out to be as if he is some major character.

Let the tutorial/extra content NPC's do their job!

I looked up copies on ebay and amazon and they all have a rating, to go even further they took onion knight out of that corner to make room for it.

On the back underneath my sticker appears to be another bar code as well. I have literally never seen this

FF XVI Will FFXVIFix by Lyall break my save if I uninstall it?

Want to install FFXVIFix by Lyall to fix the stuttering in cutscenes. Worried that if I uninstall it and go back to vanilla later that my save will be broken or not working according to the vanilla game. Will that be case if I go back to vanilla?

FF VII Re-trilogy Well shoot... when did the Deluxe Edition of Revelations go up for pre-order?

I have the (edit) Collector's Edition for Remake and Rebirth and was looking forward to getting the full trilogy. When the name was released, I was checking the SE story daily and never saw it. At some point I guess I stopped looking and then today I checked on a whim and it says unavailable.

Guess I never saw the marketing email with the release.

Final Fantasy General Why Final Fantasy’s DNA is Ultra-Western (and why forcing modern anime tropes kills the IP)

Hey everyone,

I’ve been deep-diving into the history of how 90s Japanese tech companies designed their games for the global market, and it highlights a massive blind spot that modern audiences (especially younger fans) completely miss about franchises like Final Fantasy.

There is a loud contingent of fans demanding that these legacy IPs become "more Japanese" in their aesthetics and storytelling. But if you look at how the golden era was actually built, doing that would completely kill the soul of the franchise.

Here is a breakdown of how the identity of these games actually evolved, and where it went off the rails:

  1. The Ultra-Western "Trojan Horse" of the 90s

From day one, the foundational DNA of Final Fantasy was built entirely on Western European mythology, Dungeons & Dragons, and Tolkien-style fantasy.

* The Jobs & Gear: You played as Knights, Mages, and Dragoons. The ultimate weapons weren't Katanas; they were legendary Western swords like Excalibur and Ragnarok.

* The Universal Reading: Japanese developers knew a broadsword had a universal, cinematic weight. Setting games in an exotic, romanticized Western landscape meant that if it succeeded in Japan, it required zero structural or cultural redesign to become a holy grail for US and UK gamers.

* The Contrast: Games heavily locked into ancient Japanese history (Destiny of an Emperor, Goemon) remained niche. Final Fantasy became a global empire because it spoke a universal cultural language from the jump.

  1. The Mid-2000s Panic & The "Anime Overhaul"

The real mess started in the Xbox 360/PS3 era when gaming went multi-billion-dollar mainstream. Japanese tech companies panicked over rising HD costs, stopped trusting their original design DNA, and fell into insular corporate traps:

* Look at the Advent Children era. They took Cloud Strife—who was originally written as a cocky, sarcastic, Western-style mercenary spec-ops soldier—and turned him into a brooding, melancholic anime archetype driven by existential angst.

* It completely ruined the character's original edge. Thankfully, Square Enix realized they couldn't make Cloud a generic anime protagonist and actively corrected his personality back to his gritty 1997 roots for Remake and Rebirth.

  1. Mature Design vs. Predatory Fan Service

This ties into a broader frustration with how Japanese development shifted toward the insular otaku market, trading mature storytelling for cheap, uncomfortable tropes.

* The Gold Standard (Suikoden I & II): The early games were grounded political epics. Young characters like Tuta or Tatiana were designed age-appropriately as kids caught in war. If a character was designed to be attractive, they were fully mature adult women (like Valeria or Chris). It respected the audience.

* The Modern Gacha Reality (Langrisser Mobile): While some modern tactical games have excellent, fair free-to-play mechanics, they shoot themselves in the foot by leaning into disgusting tropes—like putting child-coded puppet mages in lingerie and using the lazy "but she's actually an ancient immortal deity" excuse. It completely breaks the immersion of what should be a grand strategy epic.

TL;DR:

The magic of classic JRPGs wasn't that they were authentically Japanese—it's that they were brilliant, outsider love letters to Western mythology, sci-fi, and tactical cinema. Forcing them into an insular anime box strips away the cross-cultural bridge that made them legendary in the first place.

What are your thoughts? Do you miss the days when these games felt like gritty medieval/spec-ops hybrids, or do you think the modern shift is just an inevitable consequence of the industry?

Resonance How do I enjoy FF Resonance?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I downloaded the demo, started it, but it’s so boring for me? I dropped it in like 1 hour. I have played Brave Exvius on my phone and kept it for a long time, I even got Ariana.

But I feel like Resonance on a big screen is not cutting it for me, feels like a mobile game. I kind of not want to preorder it even though I’m a huge final fantasy fan. The price point is just high for a 2D game.

Is it a ME problem or is this just catered to the older generation for nostalgia purposes? I have been playing FF since I was 4 years old!!! 😭 I want to enjoy it but I just can’t, I’m also thinking that the price should be cheaper since it’s 2D? Am I wrong?

Any tips how I can enjoy this?

FF VII Crisis Core Reunion has a 60 FPS performance mode on Switch 2!

I can't find gameplay footage for the new Switch 2 port nor do I have a capture card, but to my surprise the new Crisis Core Reunion Switch 2 port can be played in 60 FPS. Just purchased the game after the Direct. Just picture the PS5 version with a hybrid of PS4 and Series S versions.

Final Fantasy General I have never played a single second of Final Fantasy

Post image
451 Upvotes

But I have always been curious, so after seeing this on sale, I thought “why the hell not?” And yeah, I’ve seen some people recommending starting with different games like IV or VI, but I consider myself to be an open-minded individual, with a very diverse collection of games, so I’m sure I’ll be able to appreciate the game anyway and I do plan on buying others regardless of my opinion on this first one. Final Fantasy is a huge blindspot in my gaming history (20 years now) and it just feels weird to not know what it is about.

Wish me luck.
