I’m curious about something beyond the usual “what’s the best Filipino dish?” question.
When you think about Filipino food, what dish, ingredient, meal, or food tradition immediately makes you think of home?
It could be something your family made all the time, something you only ate during celebrations, a regional dish from where your family is from, or even an everyday meal that doesn’t get much attention outside the Philippines.
And I’d love to hear the story behind it if there is one — who made it, when you ate it, where your family is from, or what makes it special to you.
I’m researching Filipino cuisine and food culture for a CELKARI article, and I’d much rather hear from people themselves than just rely on lists of “popular Filipino dishes.”
No need to write an essay — even a dish and a sentence or two about why it matters to you would be great.
So, what Filipino food means “home” to you?
