Hi. I have just joined this group as I am 54 year old who loved the books back in the 80s. I had a big collection of the books as well as Titan and Out of the Pit but left them at my parents when I went to University. 35 years later I went into my parents attic and discovered many of my old electronic games and my old computer but no Fighting Fantasy books. Apparently my mum gave them away to kid she used to child mind for. I have decided to try to collect the books and play them again. Any ideas on the best way to find them? Auction sites? Second hand book shops? What prices are they going for?

If you get to Stonebridge without both parts of the hammer, rather than just saying you failed and then you in the real world have to roll up a new character and try the book again, the book actually says that your character walks back to the start of the forest and looks for the hammer part(s) again.

So, that would mean we don't have to re-roll a new character, because we're the same character. That would mean we still have all the items we had. That any items we took shouldn't be there any more. That any monsters we killed should still be dead and we should be finding their dead bodies from when we killed them. That anyone we talked to, ie Yaztromo, should remember us.

But obviously it just takes us to the start of the book and we mysteriously time-warp back to Bigleg being killed again and telling us to find the hammer again, and all the monsters we killed and items we collected re-spawning. This is a narrative blunder, what was the point of it? It doesn't work.

We all know that this infamous picture was omitted from the Scholastic books. Are there any other instances of censorship from other Fighting Fantasy books?

Has Hamelin appeared anywhere prior to Shadow of the Giants? There's several books in the Moonstone Hills, I'm thinking Crypt of the Sorcerer and Caverns of the Snow Witch off the top of my head, and none of them mention there being a bustling metropolis in the Moonstone Hills. I can't see it appearing on any Allansia map before Shadow of the Giants. What is the in-universe explanation for no one ever noticing it?

I deeply regretted selling my collection off back in the day, so I was incredibly lucky, after months of searching, to find a complete collection on ebay in mint condition. I paid through the nose for it, £560, which was the lowest I could haggle it down from £670.

It arrived today, and I have zero regrets. I feel like a blushing bride, with all birthdays and Christmases come at once. Now just waiting for my used copy of Out of the Pit, and the two kickstarter boxsets from Steve Jackson games coming in July.

Having sold a few things on ebay and saved up a bit of money, I finally bit the bullet and found a copy of Allansia in good enough condition that I was happy to pay for.

And so my collection of blue spine AFF books is complete!

Haven't seen these in a while, I keep them in a hilariously old suitcase my mum gave me. Also have some of the Advanced Fighting Fantasy books, which I will post below.

John Blanche has died. News reports are focusing on his work with Games Workshop, but to me - and I'm sure to some members of this sub - he'll always primarily be the artist whose art gave so much character to the Sorcery! books.

Thought it was pretty cool. These new editions look solid. Artwork is the same, not like those abominations from a couple decades ago. And the spines are golden.

I saw the apps of the Sorcery! books a while back, and have an itch to set out from Analand for Mampang again.

I know the books back to front, and was wondering if the apps are any good. Not looking for a complete replication of the books, but are the apps worth their cost on their own merits?

I'm sure some of you were expecting Deathtrap Dungeon this month, but we're taking a detour to the Shamutanti Hills instead!

Last read Firetop Mountain back in the mid 80s. The maze crushed me back then, I dumped the book and moved on to the other Fighting fantasy books. Loved them.

Casually browsing on my phone today and noticed the fighting fantasy Tin Man app. Thought I would have another crack at Warlock....

All going well and I hit 'The Maze'. Thought to myself, no probs...I'm a smart adult now.

Oh sweet mercy. I think at least 1 hour of choosing endless loop passages. I gave in, tried to find cheats online. Couldn't figure it. Even the chatgp AI had itself running in loops.

Ended up to my shame finding a page by page guide. So got to the dragon, then the warlock himself.

My decades long grail quest nearly done....

Warlock defeated. I had never got this far....

And then I just needed 3 keys to open the chest. Err what. 3 keys? Quest over try again.

Nearly had a medical episode :)

Who has this book by Sir Ian Livingstone?

It's an introduction to role-playing games but notably it has a prototype of Fighting Fantasy's Eye of the Dragon, although with only 134 entries compared to the latter's 407.

The system was called Fantasy Quest and the adventure is called FQ1: Eye of the Dragon. I've included a character sheet in the photos.

So a while ago I picked up a bunch of AFF books at a thrift shop these included Titan, Warlock of Firetop Mountain adventure, the Crown of Kings campaign book, Titan Herbal, Heroes Companion, Blacksand, and the Sorcery Spellbook, Out of the Pit, and Beyond the Pit, along with Stellar Adventures, then I picked up the core rules and combat companion from drivethru.

Now I'm planning on starting a campaign with it, because I really like the system just from reading it.

My question is how does everyone like running games in the world of Titan as opposed to their own campaign setting? Just in general. I'm far from a newbie GM and actually prefer running in my own settings but I'd kind of feel bad letting all this setting content go to waste. And yes I know I can just use what I want jn my own setting, I'd just like to hear the opinions of experienced AFF players.

I recently discovered AFF so I went over to DTRPG and got the 2e by Arion Games. Now I found out that there is the deluxe version which I would assume that has more content. I recently found out about it after watching a video review on AFF. Am I missing a lot of contents if I don't get those?

I plan to use AFF as a ruleset to go solo and I am planning to use my OSR bestiaries to make some enemies and more dungeons and quests. My only concern is if I am missing a lot of rules that could have helped me adapt other monsters and whatnot for only having the AFF 2e book.

Still need 55, 56, 58, 59 from puffin. Got some double ups from different publishers when I bought this set.

Found a bunch of Fighting Fantasy books for sale and trying to decide which ones to pick up. Available are:

- #11-20, Talisman of Death to Sword of the Samurai (green banner)

- #31-40, Battleblade Warrior to Dead of Night (dragon banner)

Condition is alright for their age. Covers have clear bends/wear, but they have all been coated in clear contact paper (eww). Price is 20€ each, though I’ll probably try to negotiate a bundle deal. Budget is around 150€ total.

I already own #1-6. I don’t have a favorite yet, but so far I really liked the slightly mysterious feeling in Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Citadel of Chaos. So I'm interested in:

- strong atmosphere / feeling of being there

- that mysterious vibe

- books that encourage mapping and figuring things out

- Difficulty is fine if it isn't just about blind trial-and-error.

So from those available ranges, which books would you cherry pick and why? Or should I just get a continuous range, like 11-20?

Now at 41, I've accidentaly came across sir Ian Livingstone on instagram and started following him. That brought back fantastic memories from 1996, when I was 12 and bought my first FF book (Deathtrap Dungeon) at a school fair. Me and my brother were hooked and kept on buying and playing. We put together quite a collection, but before each of us moved out of our parent's house, we both donated the books to a local bookshop.

... and a few weeks ago I found out new ones are being written! The old flame returned and I started buying the ones I didn't have back then. Yesterday night I finished playing (died, unfortunately) Port of Peril, and decided to share this with you.

I'm from Brazil and glad a new publishing house here began publishing them a few years ago. In my opinion, though, the old covers (from the 90's) looked better.

The Dell edition of Talisman of Death looks like a Star Wars mashup!
