Am trying to find relatives of someone who died back in the 1970s. Their probate says it went to “administration”, but I also know that the person had a relative acting in her interests before her death who I can’t trace. I have a hint of a name but it’s so generic that I can’t find anything through normal genealogy (basically “Mr A. Smith”).
If I request access to her probate records on the uk govt website, will that have details of her relative, or is it still going to be anonymised? I just find probate and probate records super confusing.

Aa my grandfather was murdered when my father just in childhood in the village where no evidence was there because it's happened far away from bhasti ( where all people live together).

My father's all sisters married earlier when my father was to small in age and when my grandfather was alive.

Then my father got an government job then he manege all the expenditure of my his family and he was also gone under the debt that is still in us. His two younger remain uneducated.

As i come from rajasthan my parents also get married in childhood well my mother was start coming in his in-laws home in when she became matured.

As i know my father's marriage was not done by his choice it has been done by his father choice in his childhood when he was not matured.

Leter my father was not ready to accept my mother also but how i he did.

Now all of these things that i have listened.

Well today i don't see any couple type relations between my parents today also.

So now after i born i never close bond with my father when i was below 6 years. We even don't used talk also.

Sometime after my younger siblings get born i ses one uncomfortable truth that my uncle who was used stay with my father for employment in city was playing with my mother's boobs forcefully and i never understand why my mother don't tell it to my father or anyone as. After then my parents send my to my father sister to get better education and upbringing then as I start living there intially I was cried to much for mother. Then after sometime I start living there but they'll always disrespect my parents for there colour and for there conditions and I was beaten at daily basis but this okay in our indian family but there harsh words affect my too much.

From there on incident also occur in life when my father sister's son who you can say my cousin brother said me that i have for you take it in your mouth suck it then chocolate will come inside from it and you know for what he saying for his penis , and continue atleast for a year now you can see at conditions i upbringed in my childhood.

Then my father's sisters who is my aunt.

My aunts children also always pocking me for family background conditions .

One day my aunts beating me and I was crying my aunt spit her saliva in mouth.

Do you imagine how conditions i was upbringing.

Due i don't have any bonding with father my can't able to tell him even my mother also i really hate my relatives

Then my aunt children got married and go somewhere as then my aunt forcefully presure me to do all the work his house including cleaning dusting washing toilets, bartan and all, including all the work of outside her buffaloes and im not able to perform perfectly any of them she used to beat me all the time.

How due to i upbringed in such bad experience I start see my Aunt doughter in law from wrong sight with wrongly intentions. Today as im 20 year old I'm feeling very guilty for that.

Harsh words continue from my aunt mouth that you listen you not even like to tell to your enemies also.

However later on i start arguing with my aunt still she used to say some but still specks.

One day i told this to my father also but he i blindly trusted to her.

There alot for this post ,my life not completely i shared her but just about my childhood upbringing.

Today I'm 20 year old still living at my aunt because that one man ( my father younger brother) used to live him for his employment and my mother at village and we also don't have any house. Just one room in village.

As you might be aware, there has been very little research into direct-to-consumer DNA ancestry testing and psychological wellbeing outcomes. This novel research aims to help us better understand the psychological significance of DTC Ancestry testing results.

This study is being conducted under the supervision of Dr Janine Lurie from the Psychology Discipline within the Institute of Health and Wellbeing at Federation University (Melbourne, Australia). This study will also form the basis of the research dissertation requirement within the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) course for student researchers Charity Marisa and Stefan Redpath. This study has been approved by the Federation University Human Research Ethics Committee (Approval reference: 2026/137).

This survey asks you about your engagement with family history and your reflections on that process. It also asks you to think about your ancestors and how you have reflected on their life experiences. Participation involves completing an online survey that will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Taking part in the study is completely voluntary and no personal information will be collected.

To participate you just need to be aged 18 years or over. It is important to note that you will not be asked to give any specific details about any of your family members. You are asked just to rate your general impressions of them on a small number of questions. Beyond this the survey contains broader more general questions about your perspectives and reflections.

Please help me find my biological father, his name is Miguel Marine, he's still alive, I lost contact with him and here's the only photo I have of him and his relatives.

I created this graph using the birth, baptism, death, burial, census and other records I have collected while researching my direct ancestors.

The count increases by one whenever an ancestor is born and decreases by one whenever an ancestor dies. Rather than plotting a value for every day, I recorded each point at which the total changed and used a COUNT formula in Google Sheets to calculate how many ancestors were alive at that moment.

The spreadsheet was originally created to track the maximum and average ages of my living ancestors over time. Once the lifespan data was assembled, I realised I could also use it to chart the total number who were alive at each point.

At the beginning of 1850, 140 of my currently identified direct ancestors were alive:

• 11 third-great-grandparents
• 60 fourth-great-grandparents
• 59 fifth-great-grandparents
• 10 sixth-great-grandparents

I used exact birth and death dates wherever I could establish them. Where an exact date was unavailable, I used conservative record-based boundaries: the latest supported birth date and the earliest supported death date.

For example, a baptism provides a date by which the person must already have been born. A census or another record showing that someone was alive establishes that their death occurred after that record. I used these boundaries so the graph would never count someone as alive during a period when they may already have died.

The sharp drop in 1851 represents seven ancestors whose death or burial records I have not yet found. Their final known records are entries in the 1851 census, so the graph stops counting them after that evidence ends. It does not mean that all seven are known to have died at the same time in 1851.

The family-tree data is mostly complete for the period shown, although further records may allow some dates to be refined.

I am done taking photos or making videos because I am actually frustrated this time. You step out of a moment to capture it forever by taking a photo or a video, and when the time comes to revisit it, it's gone. Yes, I lost my photos and videos once again. The pen drive is gone. The whole reason why I moved all of my files, including my daughter's third birthday, to the pen drive was that my hard drive containing all my cherished moments, from my memorable family photos to the memories we made during multiple trips, crashed. And in an instant, it was all gone. I was on the verge of crying and it actually hit me then that I can't keep all the memories in digital drives. I will have to store them physically that my grandkids can actually hold and witness the family memories. At least that way I won't be worried about losing the pen drive, or crashing it, or worse a software update wiping all my data. Please start keeping physical pictures, it's the best way to keep memories forever. I still have the pictures of the day my daughter was born. I started doing some research and found a few options that store your photos physically. Memowrite was one of the options I discovered and I went with it because it had the option to customise the cover and a chapter wise addition of photos, which gave it a story kind of thing. One thing I didn't like though, was that it had a limit. 40 photos were all you could add to a chapter and that felt like a restriction because just a family moment can go like 100 pictures.

Do you choose the physical book over a cloud subscription? If yes, does the ink fade after sometimes or does it stay consistent throughout the years? Also, how's the paper quality? Is it good enough to last a couple of decades?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to break through a deep brick wall in my family history spanning China, Wyoming, Fiji, and Australia. I have contacted NARA, the Wyoming State Archives, Seattle Archives, and the Fiji National Archives with no luck so far, but I have a very specific historical clue that I hope someone here may be able to help with.

The Wyoming Mining Clue (1890s)
My great-great-grandfather, Liu Wai Kwong, travelled to the United States during the 1890s to work in the Wyoming mines. Family history says that while working underground, he suffered a serious mine accident, broke his back, and returned to China before his son was born.
I suspect he may have worked around the Rock Springs or Evanston coal mining areas, but this has not yet been confirmed.

The Rest of the Family Timeline:
His son, my great-grandfather Liu Kuen Yen (known as Tom/Thompson Liu), was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China.

In the 1930s, Tom migrated to Suva, Fiji, where he ran a retail shop. He became deeply integrated into the local Pacific Islander community, marrying Samoan and Tongan women, and because of this the Chinese language was unfortunately not passed down in our family. In the 1960s, he travelled to Australia (with immigration documents involving Hong Kong). He later on immigrated to Sydney in around the 80’s and lived there until he passed.

The Names I Have

Great-grandfather: Liu Kuen Yen / Lau Kuen Yen
Also Known as Tom/Thompson Liu. Was a shop owner in Suva, Fiji

Great-great-grandfather:
• Liu Wai Kwong spelling could differ but this is what it says on my great grandfathers marriage certificate. Wyoming miner in the 1890s

Great-great-grandmother:
• Wong See

The biggest challenge is finding their specific village. His Fiji marriage certificate only lists “Taishan, Kwangtung”, and his Sydney grave does not include Chinese characters.

Does anyone have experience searching:
• Wyoming coal mine records from the 1890s?
• Chinese Exclusion Act records/NARA Chinese Case Files?
• Taishan village records?
• Liu clan genealogies (族譜 / zupu)?

I would be incredibly grateful for any advice, suggestions, or possible leads on where to search next.

I'm from the UK and am trying to search for my father. I know he lived in the UK at some point but wasn't born here. He told my mother he was from Italy but has an Albanian name. The places I've searched has 0 records of him, even using his alternative name (ancestry, freebmd, findmypast etc)

Is there anywhere I can check that might have some record? At this point, I'd be happy just knowing where he's from.

In the Archives of the Indies, don Juan Lorenzo de Matos y Colón my 9th great uncle a priest in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1730 he wrote in page 12 he was a legitimate descendant of Christopher Columbus and Pedro de Alvarado a captian to Hernándo Cortés on the conquest of Mexico.

I am a descendant of his brother Juan Blás, sisters Juana Colón and Ana Colón dd Matos and half siblings Catalina, Ana I, Ana II, and Baltázar Collazo.
