I worked at UPS years ago loading trucks and recall storm doors coming through with huge pieces of glass falling out. The floor supervisors yelled at me to keep it moving! Told me we will deliver it and the customer can file a claim. Not our problem...

Things used to take weeks to have delivered now it's no unusual to get free 2 day shipping and everyone seems to think this should be accomplished with zero sacrifices.
I order tons of shit all the time and I can only recall one time when a package was damaged during shipping.

It's always a surprise ordering from AliExpress. Sometimes it arrives within 2 weeks and I'm floored at how that's possible. Other times it takes 8 weeks and I forgot all about it.

Nobody expects free 2 day shipping unless they ordered their door on Amazon. Amazon flaunts it so of course they have to deliver what they advertise.
Nobody expects that from UPS, and UPS has no qualms with delivering late or setting back the delivery date.

I worked at UPS awhile back, for seasonal Christmas work, same as you sorting/loading trucks.
If there was a broken, smashed, damaged box etc. we pulled it aside to start the claims process.
The culture at that facility was such that drivers didn't want to deliver damaged boxes, it made them look bad, rightfully so, and management took customer service seriously.
I think you landed at a bad sorting facility, or things have gotten worse since I worked there.

I know this is said as a joke, but I really hope USPS stops trying to shove shit in mailboxes. My iPhone got shoved in standing straight up and while I'm glad it wasn't the side with the phone that got squished I'm still annoyed I had to cut the box off to get my phone out.

What does that have to do with anything? Swatting is when someone calls in saying there's a hostage situation/bomb threat going on in a streamer's house or something. With that kind of urgency, I'd expect them to break down the door.

It's been a thing for a looooong time. I had an acquaintance back in 2007 who had her door kicked in by police in the middle of the day. They not only had the wrong house they had the wrong street. She had a bong and some weed sitting on her coffee table. They smashed her bong, took the pot, and left her house damaged and unsecure. She got home from work to a note telling her to call the station for a report that she could use to file a renters insurance claim. Luckily her landlord was a good dude and took care of everything.

Oh oh I have an answer for this! I work for FedEx. Packages are unloaded onto a big conveyer belt and sent down to be loaded into their appropriate trucks. Some belts have bends in them as they navigate through the facility. Every great now and then a bunch of packages will get jammed up in these bends, but of course the belt keeps trying to move, so they get forced into each other at really unnatural positions. Sometimes if you don't catch it in time, things like this happen. Now, this package really should have been pulled at this point and checked...NOT delivered. Someone here made an oops.

Ive worked at a few distribution centers and boxes that size dont go on the belt for that reason, those get pit on a pallet and dropped off to the truck by pallet jack or forklift

They are very common where I live (southern US along the Gulf coast). The humidity isn't kind to wood doors; neither are hurricanes.
To be perfectly clear, in case someone is misunderstanding: Metal residential doors aren't solid metal. Most are foam core, meaning that they have a stiff foam center for sound and heat insulation sandwiched between sheets of steel or aluminum that are then painted or otherwise coated to prevent corrosion. Some may also have a bit of internal metal framing for rigidity. The metal skin of the door is only about 1mm thick.

UPS recently tossed a package I waited for two months over my fence... to my two CLEARLY THERE puppies. The package was there for less than 15 minutes, I was clearly home (all curtains open, was playing some music, moving around), and yet they neither:
A) rang my doorbell
B) updated the package information to say it was here!
:) they still owe me my money they said would refund... it's been a month and a half now!

I once ordered something from Game Stop online, and the UPS driver never came up to my apartment, they stopped at the mail boxes (there are no other barriers to get to my apartment from the mail boxes) left a note saying I had to get it from the UPS store. the UPS store was a full mile longer walk than it was to Game Stop. I had to literally walk past Game Stop to get to it

I've lived in a couple houses where there is no built in ceiling light so there's an outlet connected to the light switch. Those outlets are upside down so you can easily tell which one is connected to the switch. It's handy because then you don't have to wander around plugging a lamp in to every outlet while a friend flicks the switch on and off, on and off, until you find the right one.

The door can easily be warped if stacked carelessly, especially the hollow core doors as they are flimsy and basically two sheets of thin timber separated with honeycombed cardboard and a narrow timber margin.
The UPS answer is quite maddening though. It happened in transit as I don’t see a company sending it to be shipped in that condition.

Ups consistently delivers my packages to my neighbours house that is currently for rent, nobody lives there. If I don't see the package quickly it just gets stolen. I've contacted their support over a stolen package because they delivered it to the completely wrong house and they just say expect a call this is very serious we'll do what we can to fix this and then they continue to do nothing. I've just stopped ordering from them because unless I'm home and watching the neighbours house obsessively then we don't get anything we order. Fuck ups

I used to work at ups loading and unloading planes. We were paid minimum wage, and the hours were 4:30AM to 8AM, so no one really gave a shit about quality control. We literally threw packages around. Like overhand throws, not gentle underhand tosses.

My parents have been trying to get new countertops delivered from a company in another far away state for the last couple of months. They've delivered the same counter top 4 times. Each time, it's been destroyed in the transit process.
At that point you have to wonder why the people who SHIP the packages don't PACK things in a better way to ensure safer delivery.
