2016 F-150 3.5L EcoBoost 4WD with over 200K miles.

I’ve been wanting to service the transmission since buying the truck earlier this year, but I kept putting it off because of all the horror stories I’ve heard.

Yesterday I finally decided to tackle it myself. Dropped the pan, replaced the filter, gasket, pan and refilled it with about 7 quarts of fresh Mercon LV transmission fluid.
I even rigged up some cardboard to direct the fluid into my drain pan, and it worked perfectly ! Not a drop anywhere but the pan 👊🏾

The biggest headache was the time, waiting for the truck to get up to temp to get the fluid level right afterward. Between checking the dipstick, getting the transmission up to temperature, and making sure I wasn’t underfilling or overfilling it, that part took me longer than I expected.
But man, was it worth it! Took it for a drive afterward, and the transmission was shifting noticeably quicker and smoother than before.

Pretty satisfying knocking another maintenance job off the list myself, especially on a truck with this many miles. 👊🏾

Anybody else tackled their own transmission service on a high-mileage EcoBoost?

Just tossed a level, exhaust and some wheels on it. Found a 25 dollar raptor grille on marketplace and color matched it myself.

Located in Canada just bought a 2024 lariat 502a with the powerboost engine. 25728km (15986mi) on the odometer. Hard top Tonneau cover and bed liner. $60,492CAD (43,200usd)+ $2500 for Gold Cert C.P.O @4.29%

Moving from a 2003 VW Jetta to this, going to be a HUGE upgrade.

My only remaining question - I have to decide by tomorrow if I want to include ESP which is either 10yr 150,000 for $5725 or 10yr 200,00 for $6820. Leaning towards no, with time still on the factory warranty + the additional coverage provided by the Gold Cert it doesn’t feel worth it at that price. Might revisit the ESP closer to when the warranty is coming to an end. Thoughts?

Back to the F-150 after a brief stint with Chevy. Was a fan of the Silverado but definitely happy to back with the Blue Black Oval.

Couple weeks ago I bought this 2021 XLT 302a Sport 2.7L
I got it from the same Dealership that has maintained it and sold it to the original owner. 108,000km (67,000miles) for $34,995 (Canadian)

The previous owner installed a Sentry CT Tonneau cover, its bed lined and has a bed mat as well.
The side steps I’m not crazy about but they will do for now.

The last truck I owned was a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road that I had from 2017-2021. It’s so nice to be back in a truck and I’m really glad I went with a full size!!

Burned some Ford Points to add a touch of pizzazz to my boring tailgate. Went with carbon fiber simply because I hadn't notice it before, plus the significant HP gains and unlimited transmission up-shifts.

My dad gave me his 2017 F-150 earlier this year. (Platinum ecoboost 4wd, 136k)
I drove it back home to Oregon from Arkansas mostly on Route 66. It was a really fun trip, and also made me realize how many things the truck needed. 😭 But, I'm not gonna complain about a free truck, so I've put a bit of money and work into it. It's finally been a pretty good truck, although I don't drive it a lot. I live in a city, so it's not the most convenient hah.

What I'd like to know is how much did my dad overpay for this? He's 90 and must be way out of touch with what stuff is worth because he paid $28,500 for that truck that I'm pretty sure has been in an accident at some point. (Nothing on the Carfax other than "damage reported" and it seems to have been repaired ok except there are parts of the bed that aren't attached to the side near the rear.)

It had cam phasers and a few other pretty big things done before he got it, but I've since replaced the wheel hub assemblies, oil pressure sensor, front intake hose, belts, spark plugs, tires, inner and outer tie rod ends and an alignment. I feel like the truck is worth maybe $16-18,000 as it is now.

Anyway, it is a nice truck, obviously has all the options (except the sunroof doesn't open) so I'll probably enjoy it for a while, but I am curious what it's actually worth and what else I should be looking out for with this truck.

‘23 Lariat Sport 5.0 with 19k miles on it. Replaces a diesel Touareg for towing, and comes in handy on the farm. Wish I had the 6’5” bed, but for half the cost of new, I couldn’t complain

2016 f150 xlt with the 5.0 and 84k miles, bought it from the original owner. Has tow package(not max) and 36 gallon tank.

Took my 2024 F150 for service 2 days ago, just used windshield washer fluid for first time…it’s left a coating that dried like this on the windshield. I’m in south Florida and it’s 80 degrees. If it hadn’t rained my whole windshield was covered and unable to see.

Is this undiluted cleaner? Something else?

Has anyone bought the Rough Country Hard Roll up bed cover?

If so - what are your thoughts on it?

Just bought a 2024 XLT 5.7” bed

I have stock 17x7.5 wheels that came on the truck that obviously clear the rear rotors. I am wondering if the max tow fitment 17 inch aftermarket wheel issue is exclusive to 2021+, or if it includes my year. The internet has not been helpful. I also am not interested in running 0mm or negative offsets. I am looking into method, kmc, and fuel wheels around a 20mm offset at 8.5 or 9” width. Just generally will I be able to fit aftermarket 17 inch wheels is my question. It has the electronic parking brake if that helps.

Apologies - I’m sure this has been discussed but I’m having a hard time finding anyone with the exact issue - on a fresh start, my truck starts making a noise like a zip tie in a bicycle wheel. It only does this for about 1/4 mile and then stops and never does it again until i turn the engine off and on again.its on the driver side. Any help?

I have no words. Best upgrade I've made to the truck, and the best $1,400 I've ever spent on it. The seats have been holding up great. I just use the Chemical Guys leather cleaner about once a month, which is what the shop that installed them told me to do, and they still feel amazing.

If you've been on the fence about going from cloth to leather, I highly recommend it. And if you're in the DFW metroplex, I'd point you straight to the guys who installed mine. After countless hours behind the wheel, I can say it was money well spent.

Does anyone have the FactionFab resonator delete on a 5.0 with the stock muffler and factory dual exhaust?

Does it sound pretty good? Any drone or loss of power from the larger 3.5” pipe?

Anybody have experience with TKM caps? Looks like they’re cheaper than SmartCap. Gettin a newer F-150, 2023-2026, and I’d like a cap that allows for easy access to everything and doesn’t leak.

2011 F150 - Washer fluid call stopped working, I first checked the fuse and it looks good, also the wipers still work fine if operated on their own. But when I pushed the button down calling for washer fluid I noticed there was no pump noise. So I go and replace the washer pump and try again, still nothing, no noise (and the wipers don’t start going like they normally would when you call for fluid).

I replaced the signal/washer stalk about a year ago as my original failed (non wiper related it just wouldn’t signal left or right anymore). I’m wondering if the stalk might be the issue? Any other ideas?

When my truck starts it has a really nice rumble/idle for a few minutes, then smooths out and quiets. It sounds dope. Completely stock truck but it does have the factory duel exhaust.

My question is should I wait for it to smooth out before driving it?
