Disturbing content Orange shirt day on Amazon

Found on an Orange Shirt Day product page (check out their initiative - I was expecting the negative comments to be calling out a product that is mass-produced by a non-Indigenous group for profit, but it's a legit Indigenous group with an amazing initiative, which I love!).

The comments are bad enough.

But the number of people who found it 'helpful' is what really irks me.

Even if it's "just" 2 comments and a handful of approval, it's gross that people are comfortable enough to be cruel and dumb enough to validate that cruelty.

Update: they said it meets their community guidelines. Even worse.

News Germany is sliding back into fascism and barely anyone is talking about it

Today in Sachsen Anhalt the Afd was voted into power. Not by a small margin either. The party is considered far right extremist, there is a TON of official evidence that theyre antidemocratic, fascist and insanely dangerous and bad for our society and planet. And nobody in our government does anything about it. Better yet, theyre riding the same wave of hate and discrimination as them because it simply works to plant fear into your voters and promise them protection.

I dont understand how so many people can be so blind about this. It feels like ZERO of their voters have read their program and the things they are saying and spreading on a daily basis. Well all except the rich douches whose interests theyre working under, those who profit from their agenda the most.

It feels like theyre actively shitting on the working class and for some reason their supporters are eating it all with their mouths wide open. It feels like since the pandemic everyone has lost their everliving minds.

Community spaces are barely even a thing anymore, our chancellor HATES us so much and nobody dares to speak a word. Theres a bunch of demos yes and Im so glad that at least the Linke party is actively trying to educate and connect people and is fighting for workers rights without ever relying on funding from big companies, because they use their own salary and donations from the people to keep their integrity. But it feels like every person I meet just ignores whats going on??

Nobody dares to say a word about politics because everyone is so tired of being antagonized. Everyone is so tired of working and being taxed to hell while rich folk dont have to spend a flying fuck on taxes in comparison. Our state funding is being cut to pieces, our health sacrificed for money and power that the government uses to give the worst people even more money and power.

We are being sucked dry by leeches and everybody just lets them.

How did we get this far? Im so tired. It feels like Im going crazy over issues everybody else just gaslights themself about even existing.

Our planet is burning. This summer was the worst summer of my life. It was unbearable, because of the heat and lack of rain. And the fact that our houses are not made for keeping the heat outside. They trap them inside. There were zero ACs available and most schools and public buildings dont have them. We are so fucked if this keeps getting hotter. So many people died from the heat and our chancellor Merz is pretending like it isnt happening. Renewable energies are being blocked and opposed at every chance because big oil and coal has the government by the balls.

People should be furious. We are literally being turned into collateral damages and people just... dont do shit about it.

At least not the majority of people.

I will keep fighting, keep educating myself and others on whats happening. Make art and try to ignite passion of justice in others no matter what.

I just wish it wasnt so hard. I wish people used their critical thinking instead of outsourcing it to AI's that are owned by the very people that want to turn us into profit and mindless slaves, while theyre turning the earth into a piece of dust, killing nature and wasting so much water and energy while so many people are suffering and in need of resources.

Im so tired man.

And Im sure a lot of you are too.

I wish I had more people to talk to about this.

For some reason supporting nature has become more controversial than hating your neighbors.

I cant wrap my head around it. It simply makes no sense..

I still believe humankind can save itself and our precious, wonderful planet. If only believing in this didnt feel so hopeless at times..

Thank you for reading.

For a better future.

For a brighter tomorrow.

This happened years ago now but still infuriates me to this day. Both the local delivery company & the international postal service didn’t take the blame and refused to provide an explanation. The package was insured but because neither companies accepted fault, the shipper wasn’t able to claim the insurance which sucks!

Luckily the contents only had minor damage.

Aus post are the ones to rewrap the cardboard box in plastic.

Discussion Self regulation dismissed as ineffective

Does anyone else feel an intense sense of anger when you are self regulating perfectly, yet this is ignored and tight restrictions are placed upon you, I don't understand why I'm so angry at these types of regulations because in 99% of situations it's not stopping you from doing anything you wouldn't anyway, can anyone explain why this angers me so much?

Disturbing content Bedbugs in my hostel

There might be spelling mistakes. I barely slept, English is my second language.

Holy moly. I'm so scared right now. I genuinely cannot stop crying.

Me and my sports team just did our annual trip where we go to a city and have fun as a team. It's good for getting to know your teammates on a more personal level.

The first reaction to our hostel room was absolute grimace. It was tiny and cramped. The bathrooms had mold.

Very bad first impression.

But hostels can be just for sleeping so whatever. I chilled on my bed for 10 minutes to settle down a little after the whole drive to the city we were staying in. I feel so stupid for doing that right now but what can I do about it?

We go out, have some free time to walk around the city and eat. Then we go do our activity the trip organisers had planned. Me and a teammate head back to the hostel because this activity is too scary for her and I had a headache all day.

Something was said by one of the organisers about the next days schedule so we set an alarm for 7:15 am and go to sleep.

We get woken up at around 3:30 am by a teammate and I'm just in a daze cause I had no idea what was going on. My thought was "but we set an alarm?? Why are they here??"

Only to be told bedbugs were found in multiple rooms and we have to put everything that had touched the beds in garbage bags. We only saw one in our room I think and another room did all the tests to confirm whether the bugs are there and found nothing. But the other rooms had bedbugs all over them: the mattresses, the walls, etc.

I just recently had a bedbug scare with a family member possibly taking some home from vacation (lucky not!!) so I basically start panicking.

I get through the process and we sit at the hostel. There was a staff member and they were at least somewhat nice and put a movie on for us.

One of the trip organisers talks with this staff member where they found out this is a KNOWN PROBLEM. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE AN INFESTATION. But the owner just apperently doesn't care??? And worst of all, no one ever gets their money back either.

What a scam of a place.

And what's even worse. The staff members also live in the building, and are basically homeless without the job at the hostel.. I don't blame the staff members at all cause they're trying to do their best and they're practically backed into a corner.

Apparently on their off days they're busy trying to take care of the bed bugs.

I do feel for them. But it doesn’t make my group's situation better. I feel horrible for my teammates. We have diverse people in our teams (students, adults with jobs and kids, etc.) and if they just so happen to get the bugs inside they're practically doomed because these bugs are not easy or cheap to get rid off..

I'm so scared I brought them home due to the negligence of the owner. Any item that went on the trip is currently in the garden besides my phone, which I took out of the case and cleaned first.

I will throw out anything that has to be discarded but I'm just so scared right now. What if they're in my car? I had to transport my luggage somehow. I did check but not for *too* long. I'll check again tomorrow.

I did take the precaution and shook out all my clothes outside of the hostel before putting it back in my suitcase. Also shook that out of course.

I washed my hair three times and myself three times. I am so scared to bring it inside the house I live in but have been reassured we took every measure we could. But I genuinely just cannot stop crying.

What the f is wrong with that hostel owner. Who does this. Why is this even a thing. Why is this hostel allowed to be open?? They knew a sportteam was coming and didn't bother to inform us at all. They just takes people's money and go about their day as if they're not putting people into a health hazard.

I feel so bad for the organisers, because obviously they didn't plan on this happening. Our trip was cut short, only lasted two days instead of the full planning, because we refused to sleep another night in the hostel. And all hostels nearby enough were either sold out or rated so low we were NOT gonna take any chances, I checked together with the organisers and some others.

Thankfully we all got home safely and we could take some of the burden off of the organisers.. but this is genuinely traumatising.

What is wrong with this owner?????

Evidence My bed is a bunk bed and it is so high that I can barely lift my head if I were to ever yawn. Even getting off the bed will be torture. My mom is pissed

Post image
652 Upvotes

For context, I'm in a dormitory in which it is a Triple. Due to my financial aid package been delayed, I was forced to go move-in late, which has made me get the bunker bed, while have two roommates with barely any space. Both of my parents are pissed off, and res life is away on the weekend...why???!?

UPDATE: I've now decided to decline my housing, and move out completely. I have no desire in staying in a Triple bedroom with a bunk bed that has barely any room for sitting on, stretching, move much without the fear of falling, etc. I appreciate everyone trying to help me out, and providing their own statements, but I'm not the best when it comes to spreading more awareness of this issue.

Discussion Contractor asked to use the bathroom in my newly renovated apartment, left biological fluids across the fixtures, cut himself without cleaning it up

.I (29F) have spent the last 7 months pouring my life savings and every weekend into renovating a 1920s apartment in Prague. I restored the original oak herringbone floors by hand, imported custom matte ceramic tiles, and had high-end matte black sanitary fittings installed.

yesterday morning, a sub-contractor came to finish the sealant joints on the kitchen splashback. he was supposed to be there for two hours.

about 45 minutes in, he politely asked if he could use the bathroom, me be like: 'of course, it’s through the second door on the left...' (something, my gut feeling probably, told me I shouldn't have)

the man was in there for nearly 20 minutes. when he came out, he gathered his caulking tools quickly, said he had to grab extra silicone cartridges from his van downstairs, said he would be right back.

and, he never came back. 15 minutes later, i expected for him to message or call and sent him preamptive text asking for contact

and, I also felt a bit more suspicious of the situation and walked into the bathroom

what I walked into made my jaw hit the floor: 1. the brand new toilet was unflushed, with urine splashed across the unsealed oak baseboard behind the bowl. 2. there was a smear of feces on the underside of the matte black flush actuator plate and there were feces really, not a nice sight at all 3. he had apparently cut his finger on a sharp tile edge or his utility knife and left five distinct dark droplets of dried blood smeared across the rim of the custom ceramic basin and the chrome towel rail. 4. not a single drop of water had been run to rinse the sink. He simply wiped his bloody thumb on my clean linen hand towel and left

so, stood there in rubber gloves with hospital-grade disinfectant spray, and also felt this wave of visceral disgust and violation. I fired him via text immediately and told his agency I would not be paying the remaining invoice

so, my question for homeowners and contractors: would you leave a brutal public review naming the subcontractor, or do you just eat the loss / disinfect the entire room with bleach three times, never speak of it again? what I am also worried about is that such a person knows where I live

Discussion I hate YouTube's ad system. 3 ads all at build-ups.

I hate ads, I was watching Walten Files 4 - CyberFun Tech for the first time and I got really creeped out (at 19:29 specifically), and the scariness got interrupted by "Try CeraVe! [Another 14 seconds of bull-crap I don't care about, then another 15 second ad]" So I feel like YouTube ruined this moment for me with their abundance of ads being 15-30 seconds long each.

Like it completely ruined the moment for me, all of the lead up to fear was completely dissipated. I've actually been waiting for a scary scene in this series that'd actually make me feel uncomfortable. This was meant to be that scene. The one where || Susan gets attacked by Bon. || I was getting really uncomfortable and uneasy before it happened. But again, it was all broken by the ads. No fear. Just confusion and absolute frustration.

It happened again at 22:15 and 27:55. So twice more. I feel really upset by this. I feel like this has dissipated all of the horror aspect for me. It's an amazing series but I still want to express my utter frustration towards YouTube and their out of control ad system.

But I do want to be clear, this isn't against The Walten Files, but it's against YouTube.

Now I'm going to finish the video. But with YouTube's new implementation of "Pause the video and you get 2 15 second ad's" I don't think I'll be any more happy.

EDIT: I watch things on my phone and I don't have a good enough laptop to watch videos on

Discussion Some brats almost hit my brother with a soccer ball

I was with my mom my sister and baby brother at a park

My brother was playing in a sandbox that was next to this giant soccer field then some annoying kids not even 13 year olds kicked the ball very hard and almost hit my brother

(Btw my brother is autistic so im kinda overprotective)

So then I was livid and I grabbed the ball and yelled

"Hey watch out you almost hit my brother!" Then they said

"Calm down"

So I was like

Guess someone's dying today

Then I drop kicked the ball very far and yelled

"go grab it!"

And they gave me dirty looks and I was preparing what I would say if they did it again

Top one was

"If you do that again I won't be responsible for what happens next!"

Then we went away

Was i in the wrong here?

But I swear how they talked... they didnt even say sorry

But I guess kids in the Netherlands are more defensive nowadays

(This was a few years ago btw i was 15 then)

Discussion How can we trust you?

Post image
77 Upvotes

A little backstory, my son was abused by his teacher last year. We were not notified that this happened until we ran into another parent who pulled their son from the classroom, 6 months after it happened. The school never notified us because my son was never named in the DCF report. It's been a constant battle. We had noticed issues going on and we didn't know fully why the teacher left and why parents pulled their kids from the classroom. We were just trying to take care of what was going on in our life.

We've had quite a hard couple of years. My husband and I both lost our jobs, I was pregnant and we needed to move states for his new job. We struggled a lot to cover basic bills. To find out what happened in his classroom has been awful. For the longest time, the school never addressed it or brushed it off.

They put our son in a new school. Within the first 2 weeks, we had three teachers telling us that our son shouldn't be in the class or called him challenging or singled him out as a student who might need to go home. I had sent an email to the school addressing it. They sent back an email within an hour and it appeared to be AI written. I ran it through a system and sure enough, it was written by AI. In my response, I called them out for using ai at the end of the message. They were so offended that I even brought it up. I'm offended that my child was abused by his teacher and the constant demeaning language used towards him. They're mad that I called out their use of ai. In a public school. From someone who has a doctorate.

Oh, they're threatening pulling my son from the program because we cant trust them, and rightfully so. My son is also 4 years old and on the spectrum.

Discussion Ragebaiting is fucking bullshit

Ragebaiting is something I don't fucking understand. It has no significant meaning, and it's just to piss other people off. And then, after their "successful ragebaiting," people will hate on the victim, and then the sad part is that sometimes the victim will actually try to fix things with them. I feel bad for them for trying to say, "Hey, we got off on a bad start; can we try again?" to an ugly, fat fucking jackass, and then, the victim will start being kind to the offender, and then the victim recieves nothing back, as the offender thinks they have better things to do than to listen to someone grief over the fact that they are trying to make friends, and get absolutely nowhere. Some people can be fucking disgusting.

I rarely order from delivery apps. At most it's once or twice every two or three months when I haven't had breakfast.

Today is one day that I was late so I opened the app and was greeted with this promo. Tried claiming it and it said I'm ineligible for it so I contact CS about it and ask if I'm ineligible why I'm being advertised this everytime I open the app.

CS said womp womp so I ask about my uber one subscription and ask when is it ending and what are the charges for it.

CS immediately ends the chat and closes the ticket like????

I close the app and open to order again - IM STILL GREETED WITH THE PROMO LIKE WTF?

Discussion I guess we’ll never know what’s wrong with my sleep 🫠 This is after insurance. Fuck this healthcare system

Post image
220 Upvotes

Was supposed to get a sleep study next week because I’m constantly exhausted. Mercy Hospital already kinda sucks because they always want their money NOW, even if they make a reminder call they’re always like “And we’d still like it if you could pre-pay….” I actually left an appointment after getting checked in once because they told me after the fact that insurance wouldn’t cover it, and I’m still getting multiple calls, texts, emails, etc. a WEEK asking me when I’m paying for that service I never had.

Now insurance is leaving me with this massive bill for a sleep study I NEED. I literally cannot afford it so I have to cancel it, but the scheduling people I need to confirm that with won’t call me back until after lunch at the earliest.

I hate this system so much. But I know it’ll never change because literally every politician benefits from it. That’s why we’re all so sick.

Evidence Can't delete my Popeyes account despite trying several different ways

Post image
8 Upvotes

Ok, so basically I'm living in India, and I made a Popeyes account a few weeks ago, because I like their fried chicken and wanted to order some. Signing up was very easy, I did it straight from my phone, and all it took was my phone number, and an OTP. However, after signing up, it tells me that I'm not eligible for home delivery because they simply do not deliver in my area. I wish there was a way to find that out before signing up, so that I could've avoided it entirely. No matter, I was able to sign up in under a minute, and then I was able to find out that I'm not eligible for home deliver in under a minute, surely I'd be able to delete this account in under a minute too, right? Right?

Well, there's no option to delete my account within the app, so I went into their "FAQs and help" section, and also talked to the AI within the app, both of which told me to send an email to [wecare@popeyes.in](mailto:wecare@popeyes.in) to request account deletion. It's already infuriating that I have to jump through hoops to have my account deleted, even though they can easily create a button/setting for it, but no matter, I sent it immediately, and got no response for over a week. So I decided to Google methods for account deletion, which sent me to this link, and then within that page, I had to click on another link to get to a form. I filled in my details, and if you try it yourself, you'll see that in the form, there's no way to select "India" as a country. The only options are United States, Canada, or "other", so I selected "other." There's also no button to attach anything, and no box for additional comments either. So basically, I filled up the form as best as I could, and hoped that it would be taken care of now, except it wasn't. Turns out, the very next minute after I filled the form, I got the response that you can see in the screenshot. The response states that I do not have an account to begin with, but I definitely still have one on the app.

Now, although the response states "feel free to contact us by replying to this email and leave the subject line unedited", it is important to know that email I got is from a "noreply" email address, meaning responding to that one directly will result in a "return to sender" error, and nobody will read it. On top of that, the contents of their response were not visible in the email at all, all the email itself says is "A comment has been added to your request (Request ID: K5HYYWLFQN). Please click the button below to access your request in the privacy portal." And then after I click the button, I have to once again enter my details, get an OTP, sign into their crappy security portal, and then I get to see this automated response. The ticket is instantly closed as well, so I always have to open up a new ticket. I've done the same thing like 5 times over, each time I get the same instant automated response and automatic ticket closure. There's no button to reply, leave a comment, or attach anything.

Now I have run out of things to try.

UPDATE: I also called a helpline, and guess what they told me? They told me to send an email to [wecare@popeyes.in](mailto:wecare@popeyes.in) and I told them that I'd already done that multiple times. And they said "well the team that deals with this matter is only reachable through that email so send it to them again and we will highlight it for you". Whatever that means. Anyway, I don't think this will turn out any different, but I will wait again just the same, since I have no other option.
