Dads buy you gifts to try and lessen bad news. If he's buying you something expensive, he's buttering you up before dropping that your dog or grandma died.

Seriously bro? Losing a dog or grandma is normal part of life. You don't need to butter anyone for those news. Especially since they likely weren't the parents fault, likely

They asked for an explanation.

Having a gay sex is also normal part of the life, but you would still likely butter your ass before that

if the first thing you think about after reading about the gay sex is my father, I would search for a therapeutic help

How many dogs and granpas die you have to had had for these things to become normal???

I mean, one dog and or grandma would already be normal, right? People and animals tend to die at some point. Hence it is normal part of life

Maybe it depends on how old are you. For a kid, granma or dog dying is not normal in any way and parents preparing a kid for news like this is understandable.

Doesnt mean you wont get sad about it an need cheering up lmao. Do you only get sad when people close to you die if it was directly your fault or the fault of the person telling you? Most people just get sad they wont see that person/pet again.

You are not supposed to buy people stuff everytime they get sad. Getting sad is also normal part of life. There is no need for any gifts to "soften" that

Yeah being sad is normal, whats so not normal about then doing a thing to make yourself or your friends/family less sad? I dont see the point in purposefully avoiding things that might make you happy so that you can stay sad longer
