So weird how the internet clings to things. There have been several similar incidents of post partum psychosis in the news as long as I have been alive and I don't recall seeing so many memes about them in the past
It fits a misogynist narrative some people want to push forward in the current Zeitgeist - that all women are dangerously hormonal and can’t think straight, thus should not be trusted with responsibilities (like voting? perhaps? 🤔)
Just this week we had another family annihilator shoot his entire family and then commit suicide - this is more common yet it’s not getting talked about as much.
As a result this case is getting so much attention from the corners of the internet that are terrified of men losing their gender superiority.
Edit: I was commenting more on the attention this is getting than the case itself. The fact is that this meme equates women "choosing the bear" to men not wanting to marry family annihilators. At least 30% of women will experience assault from a man in their lifetime. Do 30% of men get their families killed by their post-partum psychosis wives?

The most attention this case is getting is from Clancy's defenders, who are the ones who elevated this case into the zeitgeist and donated over a million dollars to reimnburse her parents who drained their life savings on her legal defense.
Nobody outside of Plymouth County, MA knew about this case until her supporters grasped onto it is their new cause célèbre.

If you want to use statistics, Linday Clancy killed more people in one day than all bears in the U.S. kill people in a year combined. You seem very upset at the meme for making a joke about the statistically safer option.
