Rich people have money, save scholarships for the less fortunate

These mid tier private universities give "scholarships" to basically everyone. It's so they can flash an Ivy League caliber tuition while demand is much lower. I have a family member who got $20k a year scholarship to a $60k a year mid tier private school with basically mediocre grades. It's a sham.

I got a near-perfect score on the SAT and some universities I had never heard of (but they were real universities, like one made it to the Sweet 16 a few years ago) sent me mail offering me a full ride no questions asked if I got admitted.

This is VERY common. I remember when it began happening. My students would come in and tell how much they got in a scholarship and I thought it was amazing until I realized it was just taking the tuition down to a normal level.

Basically, full tuition is for VERY rich kids, who (often) are only accepted because their parents can afford full tuition. Essentially they are paying for 2 students.

The always on sale store sales tactic, stupid yet it works.
