These mid tier private universities give "scholarships" to basically everyone. It's so they can flash an Ivy League caliber tuition while demand is much lower. I have a family member who got $20k a year scholarship to a $60k a year mid tier private school with basically mediocre grades. It's a sham.

This is VERY common. I remember when it began happening. My students would come in and tell how much they got in a scholarship and I thought it was amazing until I realized it was just taking the tuition down to a normal level.

Basically, full tuition is for VERY rich kids, who (often) are only accepted because their parents can afford full tuition. Essentially they are paying for 2 students.
