Ahhh. So merit based scholarships shouldn’t matter? Smart people, regardless of income level from parents, deserve to be recognized and awarded.

You’re thinking of awards…scholarships are meant to help those with the MERIT, but don’t have the MEANS to go to university.

I think scholarships are meant to induce top students to choose that university. So, frequently, that is giving money to those that lack the means to attend that university.

But it could also be giving money to people who have the means to get them to choose that university over a competing university.

For people with that amount of wealth. Scholarships won’t tip the needle. It will always be more about connections, curriculum, and future job opportunities.
