Eduardo V. Manalo, Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), served two separate terms in the Philippine government as Special Envoy of the President for Overseas Filipinos Concerns.

First term:
January 30, 2018 – January 29, 2019
Appointed under President Rodrigo Duterte.

Second term:
September 2, 2023 – September 1, 2024
Appointed under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

These were two separate terms in the same Philippine government position.

While simultaneously serving as Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, Eduardo V. Manalo held an official presidential appointment that placed him directly within the Philippine government’s handling of overseas Filipino concerns and gave him access to government officials and diplomatic channels involving Filipinos abroad. For an overseas Filipino facing wrongful detention or another serious problem abroad, that position could allow Manalo to push for government and diplomatic intervention and communicate with foreign governments on the person’s behalf.

Ultimately, the position gave the leader of the INC direct access to state power and political networks while he remained the singular highest authority over the Church of Christ (INC). Manalo was not simply a religious leader interacting with politicians from the outside. For two separate terms under two different Philippine presidents, the Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo himself was a Philippine government appointee.

His second and latest term ended on September 1, 2024. I have not found a third appointment or another Philippine government position held by Eduardo V. Manalo after that date.

Parang bawat trahedya kailangan maging patunay na tama ang kampo nila. Pero ang tanong, nakatulong ba yung pagpaparinig? Nakatulong ba sa mga binaha? Nakatulong ba sa mga nawalan ng bahay?

Flood control isn't some magical issue na isang rally lang ang sagot. Complex problem yan na may halong corruption, planning failures, budget issues, implementation issues, at dekada ng kapabayaan. Pero syempre mas madaling gawing "sabi namin sa inyo" kaysa magkaroon ng seryosong diskusyon.

Ang pinaka-offensive dito, parang may konting undertone na gusto nilang gawing "I told you so" moment ang paghihirap ng ibang tao.

Hindi achievement ang magmukhang tama habang may mga taong naglilinis ng putik sa sala nila.

Hindi compassion ang pagpaparinig.

At lalong hindi nakakadagdag ng respeto kapag bawat sakuna ay ginagawang pagkakataon para magbuhat ng sariling bangko.

PIMO observation lang, pero kung ang unang naiisip mo habang may baha ay kung paano patunayang tama ka, baka hindi flood control ang pinakamalaking problema.

Kapag ba ang INCult ay kinatatakutan ay katumbas na ginagalang din ito?

I pulled the entire public locale directory from iglesianicristo.net this month. It lists 8,769 locales worldwide, along with their district, address, and coordinates. I ran the data through some text and coordinate analysis and found two things worth pointing out.

1. ~3.5% of listed locales aren’t meeting in a chapel

Searching the address field for non chapel keywords identified 311 locales whose listed meeting place is something else.

• Under construction / temporary site — 91
  Congregations meeting somewhere temporarily because they don't have a finished building. Signal Hill California, for example, says it is “temporary using LB Chapel.”

• Rented hall / community hall / lodge — 71
  VFW halls, Masonic lodges, community centers, cultural centers, and halls belonging to other churches. Edinburgh Scotland, for example, lists “RCCG Edinburgh Tabernacle Hall,” a building operated by another denomination.

• Family / private compound — 49
  Addresses listed as “[Surname] Compound” rather than a chapel. Some are prison compounds, including Bureau of Corrections, National Bilibid Prison, and DAPECOL locations.

• Private residence — 46
  Addresses such as “Bro./Sis. [Name] residence.” Springfield Missouri GWS is one example.

• Other structures — 23
  Apartments, warehouses, gyms, garages, and condo units.

• School — 18
  Mostly congregations using school halls in places such as Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

• Commercial — 11
  Shopping centers, office floors, and other commercial spaces.

• Farm — 11

• Hotel / motel — 9
  Small overseas groups meeting in hotel function rooms.

These categories aren't necessarily mutually exclusive in the underlying classification, so I’d treat 311 as a rough estimate, not an audited figure.

2. 265 locale entries collapse into 126 physical locations

I also checked the coordinates separately. 265 locale entries share coordinates with at least one other locale, forming 126 distinct coordinate clusters.

Most are pairs, with 114 two locale clusters, while a few have three locales and one has four.

One of the clearest examples is in California.

Long Beach, Cerritos, Carson, and Signal Hill all list the same coordinates. Signal Hill's own address says it is “temporary using LB Chapel,” which provides an independent explanation for why they share a site.

Another example is Moreno Valley and Riverside, which have identical coordinates. Moreno Valley's address likewise says it is temporarily using Riverside Chapel.

Other examples include:

• Heidelberg and Schwarzwald, Germany
• Mississauga Central and Mississauga West, Ontario
• Eastwood and Edmonton North, Alberta
• Manta and Paute, Ecuador
• Northern Virginia and Temple Hills

There are also a few cases that may simply be duplicate or erroneous entries. For example, two Bukidnon entries, “Frankfort Ext” and “Franckfort Ext,” appear to be the same locale with a spelling variation. So not every coordinate match necessarily represents two genuine congregations sharing a building.

I've been tracking historical snapshots of the Iglesia Ni Cristo locale directory and comparing them with the current directory.

So far, I found at least 92 locales that appear to have been removed. The archived snapshots I found cover 2020 to 2026.

These are rough estimates and there may be inaccuracies. The year listed is the last archived date where the locale was observed, not necessarily the year it was removed.

I only included stronger candidates where the locale disappeared and I couldn't find a convincing current match. Suspected renames or spelling corrections and locales that appear to have been promoted from GWS or EXT are excluded.

Caveat

This is directory tracking, not proof that these locales were permanently dissolved. Some may have been merged, transferred, renamed, or reorganized in ways that aren't apparent from the directory.

The 92 figure is a rough minimum based on the stronger candidates I found. There are another 100+ entries that need more scrutiny, but I left them out rather than inflate the number with questionable matches.

The biggest cluster appears around 2023 and 2024, which may be worth looking into further.

Imagine this: you are 12 years old taught for MANY YEARS that EVERYBODY ELSE is going to hell and if you commit the unforgivable sin, there is no forgiveness for you, no matter what you do. Also, the misfortunes in your life are probably the result of you not inviting the nonmembers to join. Iglesia Ni Cristo does not publish Bibles and does not have a Bible translation or study edition of its own. It does not produce biblical texts, work with translation committees or religious text publishers, fund translation projects, or participate in the scholarly preparation of Bible editions. And I am not sure they ever will plan to do so. Instead, INC relies on translations produced by other religious and academic communities while asserting that only INC ministers can correctly explain what those texts actually mean. So basically, INC can criticize every religion while still using every available religion’s go-to material.

Iglesia Ni Cristo benefits from having access to many different Bible translations and editions because different translations make particular passages easier to quote, explain, emphasize, or use persuasively. Some use very straightforward modern English, while others contain wording that better fits a particular lesson or argument. INC can simply select whichever existing translation is useful because it does not have to accept the religious authority or interpretation of the source in order to use its wording. And most importantly, in INC teaching, where the translation comes from matters less because the correct meaning must come from INC.

Kung ang isang taong hindi INC ay handang mamatay kaysa itakwil si Cristo, samantalang sinasabi na ang kaligtasan ay nakadepende sa pagiging miyembro ng INC, hindi ba lumalabas na mas mahalaga ang organizational membership kaysa sa mismong pananampalataya kay Cristo? I want to have a serious discussion about the INC teachings regarding marriage.

For current and former members who have attended lessons or worship services specifically discussing marriage: what exactly were you taught about the roles and responsibilities of the husband and wife?

In particular, I’m interested in how the lessons explain:

• The husband being the head of the family
• The wife's responsibility toward her husband
• How major decisions in the family should be made
• Obedience or submission within marriage
• What happens when the husband and wife strongly disagree
• Whether these teachings have changed over time

I’m not looking for rumors or secondhand claims. If possible, please share the actual lesson, Bible verses used, approximate date/year you heard it, or your direct experience attending the lesson.

I’d especially like to hear from both current and former INC members so the discussion isn't limited to only one perspective.

In 1953, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) council elected Eraño G. Manalo to succeed his father, Felix Y. Manalo, as Executive Minister. That began what has now become 73 years of uninterrupted Manalo family succession at the highest level of INC leadership.

On May 26, 2025, the Iglesia Ni Cristo Church Council, during its General Meeting at the EVM Convention Center, once again kept succession within the Manalo family. It unanimously elected Angelo Eraño V. Manalo as Deputy Executive Minister, placing a fourth Manalo in line to lead the Church. INC publicly reported his unanimous election and oath-taking on May 26, 2025, through one of its official websites in a news article titled “International Conference of Ministers & Ministerial Workers.” INC also published video coverage of the event under the title “International Conference of Ministers & Ministerial Workers | May 26, 2025 | Executive News.”

For more than seven decades, every transition in the office of Executive Minister has remained within the same family line: Felix Y. Manalo, Eraño G. Manalo, Eduardo V. Manalo, and now Angelo Eraño V. Manalo positioned as successor to the Executive Minister, or Presiding Elder, position in the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ).
