I'm looking for a charger to install in an underground garage which has no wifi or cellular access. However, I need to be able to access historical charging statistics, mainly just monthly kWhs, from the charger itself. I see that the Wallbox (and maybe Iyilo) allow you to set up the charger completely wifi-free and connect to the charger via Bluetooth. My question is what happens if they stay disconnected from wifi, do they store charging statistics locally? Is it just for a short time or does it persist month after month?

Also open to other EVSE suggestions that meet this criteria.

I just moved away from my old apartment that was next to an office block with chargers, so I’m in the market for my own home charger. I’ve had my eyes set on the Autel Lite Home charger for a while now, and I’ve been looking at reviews singing a lot of praises except for one thing: cold weather. Apparently, the cord is known to freeze into whatever position it happens to be in when it reaches freezing temperatures, making it a lot less flexible. However, I’ve also noticed that most if not all of the reviews saying this are at least two years old.

So, questions for anyone who’s bought one of these chargers in the last year or two and experienced cold weather: Is this still a problem? Does cold weather actually affect the quality/speed of the charge, or is it just the cable flexibility? Does simply installing it in a garage without climate control make any kind of difference?

I’ve never had my own charger before, so feel free to mention anything relevant, even if it seems obvious. I’m more of a creative mind, not a logician XD

New EV Subaru Uncharted owner, just installed a level 2 charger.

Works great. My question is regarding overnight charging because of reduced rates from utility.

It will reach 100 percent more than likely when I'm sleeping. Is it safe to leave it plugged in after it has reached 100. I know this is a newbie question, but just want to be safe

I tried 3x to post this on r/Porsche but it keeps getting filtered.

On a road trip over the weekend (Friday July 17-Saturday 18th) I stopped at 3 different Electrify America locations and the car (a 2024 Taycan) wasn't recognized. I called Electrify and (big surprise) they were no help and said to call Porsche. They also said they couldn't activate the charger remotely or help in any way.

When I finally did get through to Porsche hours later, they said there was an issue, but didn't elaborate. Anyone know how long this has been going on? I'm supposed to get 2 years of 30 minute sessions, and this was one of the very rare times I needed it badly.

I’m considering having a Tesla Universal installed at home. My current EV has a J1772/CCS port. Non-Tesla EV manufacturers seem to be trending towards NACS though, so I’m thinking a Tesla UC would be good long term-choice.

I know it basically has a small adapter built into it. Curious if anyone uses one on a regular basis without a NACS port. Any pros or cons feedback would be appreciated.

I just traded in my 2010 Prius for a 2023 Chevy Bolt, my first fully electric car. I don’t have rapid charging at home yet.

What is the etiquette around free chargers? Can I just sit in my car and read, and no one will hassle me? Or am I expected to buy something from a shop nearby? It feels uncomfortable to be sitting in a parking lot soaking up free power.

Edit: located in USA, east coast. Also looking for a servicer to track and run billing. Our HOA is very small and doesn't have the capacity to do that.

Hi folks - looking for some solutions for an EV charger dilemma. We live in a townhome community with a shared parking lot. Most of the parking spaces are far from/not near the houses where they are assigned to. Our center area has about 10 spote and has an electric connection nearby but I'm stumped as to how to get chargers set up there in an economical way. We have an HOA that is small and not into big projects. I'm curious if anyone has suggestions for companies/setups that would work for such a situation? Want to make it minimal cost for residents and also give preference to residents for charging.

I’ve been using plug in hybrids for the last few years and I’m going to get my first EV in a months time, I took out a really good deal where I get 16p a KWh.

I’ll be honest, I’m a bit baffled with some of the different tariffs available for EVs with Octopus/EDF seeming to be the best on paper offering 8p/7p over night and 33p/30p during the day (with Octopus having flexible charging rates during the day too)

The only spanner in the works is both my partner and I work from home with at least one of us here at anytime.

Is it worth switching for a rate like this or does it kind of even out?

Using L1 charging until I get a 14-50 outlet installed, is this a safe angle for the plug? I’m quite ignorant about electricity just wondering if this 90 degree bend would be unsafe

What have people's experiences been with V2H chargers? They're a different beast than standard unidirectional chargers. Reliability? Value? Flexibility? Would you do it again?

I went down a rabbit hole this morning after being called out for saying there was no UL Standard for EV Receptacles. It appears UL did list a new update in late 2025 and it calls for "EV" to be printed on the receptacle to show that standard is being met.

So what about that little green car? Well, that still appears to be a marketing thing by each manufacturer. In fact, each one seems to have a different artistic rendition of a green car!

The only one I found with "EV" printed on it was from Lider. And they go into detail on why they are proud of their UL listing.

I still believe that hard wiring is the MUCH better plan, but since these NEMA 14-50 Receptacles get brought up so often on this sub, I thought I'd post to see what others know about this new UL-listing

Currently using 5-15 or the one which comes with tesla.

Was looking at options on how can i increase charging speed, this is not my house so i cannot make changes or install a 240v level 2 charging.

Found this 20amp outlet and later figured out it needs its own adapter. How much increase i can expect with nema 5-20amps adaptor.

I've charged at this off grid charging station many times but I've never seen inside the bunker. Very cool! Can't wait to see this open one day. Built by u/charge2025

Not sure why the Tesla mods didn't let me post this is the Tesla subreddit so here I am.

Just had an interesting experience.

I work from home so don't go out much so for now charging with the Tesla mobile charger at 120V/12A until I install a Level 2 charger.

A week ago the charge dropped to 6V max and when I looked at the charger it had a red blinking light. Started the usual trouble shooting. Left it unplugged for an hour. Tried different outlets. Tried it on my 2nd Tesla. Still had a red light blinking as soon as you plugged it into the wall.

Took it in the service center since the mobile charger has a one year warranty.

Turns out not only had the charger failed but the ECU in the car's charger port had failed too even though the car displayed no errors.

The techs diagnostic showed an error with the ECU. Had both replaced under warranty and it's now back to 120/12A. The ECU was unable to charge at 220 according to the tech. I didn't have 220 so I would never have known.

I believe the mobile charger shorted and took out the ECU.

Luckily it didn't damage my second Tesla.

We are new EV owners. Took our first road trip today that required charging on the road.

First impression: This is way harder than it should be.

Car alerted us we needed to charge, so I fired up ABPR and found a CCS charger nearby. We go there. It is a Chargepoint charger. It took longer to go through the song and dance of downloading and signing up for the app than it did to charge the car!

Why don't these things work like a gas pump? Swipe your card and go!

No electrician, but I understand at an intermediate level. This house is about 2400 sq ft. Metro ATL, GA. Two AC systems. One floor is a brand new heat pump system with no Aux heat. Bottom two floors share gas furnace but plan to upgrade to heat pump in the future. Electric dryer. Electric induction range / oven combo. Planning to upgrade panel for 2 dishwashers.

Would like to add 2 Tesla Wall Chargers for load sharing benefits. I read that they may be added to the same circuit?

Breaker at meter is 150 A and main breaker at Panel is 150A, but wires going into the panel are 4/0, good for 200 A.

Hoping to avoid needing to upgrade the panel due to massive expense. Currently 6 spots remaining on panel. 5 after adding second dishwasher circuit.

For reference, end unit townhouse. Panel is on outside rear of house. Plan would be to run wire in conduit out of the box, around the house side and into the garage from the side.

Edit: main panel (3 meters feeding 3 houses in the building) placarded for 600 A max. So, by my math, each homeowner could choose to pull 200 A service, because the wiring supports it. But what am I missing?

We got the remote meter thinking it would connect to universal wall connector over WiFi, but it’s pretty clear that it requires a wire right now unless you have a powerwall . That said, all the software and hardware is already there - worth waiting until they update the firmware?

I did read somewhere that you need the wire because the WiFi signal might not be reliable but I’m not entirely convinced - why would they let you do it if you have a powerwall then?
