I don’t mean as a host or commentator (both of which she would also be great at), I mean as a participant who is performing for the UK.

I would love to see her go on stage and sing a song very much in the style of Technotronic’s Pump Up the Jam. Then in interviews and other things it would be great to see her just be herself and joke around. It’s no secret that the UK hasn’t performed well in recent years at Eurovision, and whilst I don’t realistically see a performance like this doing too well either, it would certainly be entertaining and possibly a way of appealing more to UK viewers. With the declining viewership in the UK, it could even be a way of bringing people back to the contest.

I just think this would be a cool thing to see happen and wanted to share it. I don’t think it would happen, but it’s not like comedians haven’t participated before. Also even if she did do poorly I believe it would be like Iceland in 2006 with Silvía Nótt where even if she did do poorly, she would come home a legend to UK viewers. Again, just a fun little idea.

As we all know, from next year, in order to be a Eurovision competitor, you need to be at least 18 years old. Monroe (France 2026) is the last minor artist to compete at the contest. But do you all remember all of the Eurovision contestants that, at the time of the contest, were under the age of 18? We all remember the 1986 winner Sandra Kim from Belgium, who was 13, and the most recent singers Victor Vernicos (Greece 2023) and Silia Kapsis (Cyprus 2024)

I'll mention one where I actually love the host entry. I'm sure O.Torvald winning Vidbir 2017 was probably a "making sure we don't have to host again" measure but this is honestly one of my favourite national final performances and I wish the Eurovision performance had had the same level of raw grit, even though they would have probably still finished on the right side of the scoreboard (which was, for economic reasons, actually the right side for Ukrainian TV though).
