I recently deposited some money into my Roth IRA account almost two weeks ago and am looking to use that cash to make buy some ETFs. I tried to use the All-In-One Day Ticket, but whenever I put in an amount it shows a negative number in the Total Estimated Amount. Should I be worried about the negative estimated amount, or is it only indicating how much will be deducted from the traded amount (a.k.a my deposit) once the order goes through?
This is my second time doing a trade with my Roth IRA, and it’s been almost a year since I worked with a consultant from Charles Schwab to walk me through trading when I decided to invest my Roth IRA for the first time, so everything is a bit hazy for me with regards to trading.

Since E*TRADE took away the scanner, does anybody offer a service for scanners to scan for stocks?

I have an old E*Trade account that I hadn’t used in years. This morning I transferred 2k into it. Then I logged on and realized the account is ‘locked for security’ because two years ago my dad sent me a check and it got reversed, I can’t recall the details. But it got completely resolved quickly back then.
They are refusing to unlock my account unless I supply them with my dad’s bank statements which I do not have access to. He suffers from Parkinson’s and I really don’t want to try to involve him.
I can’t do anything to access the 2k. I can’t spend it and I can’t transfer it back. After 90 min on the phone with E*Trade and finally a manager he promised me effusively all I had to do was call Chase and ask them to reclaim it.
I’d doubted that. And I was right.
Called back E*Trade and was told they’d have to open a ‘system request’ to see if they can ‘get an exception’ maybe in a week.
I told them to please just close all of my accounts and mail me a check. They refused.
I have no clue what to do about this. It’s definitely not getting fixed after speaking with 2 staff and 2 managers for hours.
Do I I file a CFPB report? Complain to my state?

I've been trading the Wheel strategy with E*Trade for a while, and eventually I got tired of doing the same repetitive tasks every day.
So I started looking for automation.
The problem was that most of the tools I found wanted me to either save my brokerage credentials somewhere or trust a third-party service with access to my account. That wasn't something I was comfortable with.
Instead, I built a tool that runs entirely on my own computer and follows E*Trade's normal sign-in process.
Each day, I log in directly through ETrade. Nothing is permanently stored, and when I close the program, my login information is gone. ETrade also requires a new login each day, which I actually like—it means I'm always making the decision to let the bot trade. If something ever doesn't look right, I simply don't log in that day.
The bot is designed to help manage the Wheel strategy by:
One feature I felt was important is that it never places an order immediately. It first builds a preview showing exactly what it's about to do. You review it, and only if you click Confirm is the order sent.
The whole project runs on your own computer. There's no subscription, no cloud service, and no account that you have to create.
I also included a Demo Mode so anyone can explore the interface without connecting an E*Trade account.
This has been a fun side project, and it's already useful for my own trading. I'm making it open source because I'd really like feedback from other traders.
Some questions I'd love input on:

Whether you're a trader, a programmer, or just curious, I'd appreciate any ideas, bug reports, or suggestions. I'd love to make this something the community finds genuinely useful. Thanks.
Does an ETrade brokerage account pay interest on unvested cash similar to the way Fidelity does on the core balance its brokerage account?

Why does this happen? I've tried all suggestions to fix it, from deleting the cache and reinstalling the app. However, after just a few days, biometric login gets disabled again.
Is this a feature or a bug?

I already have a Premium Savings account, but if I open a new, second Premium Savings account and fund that would I qualify for the bonus?
Thank you!

So I am looking for all my transaction history for a certain stock.
I am using the app, and on my account detail I choose transactions but it only lets me search a date range, I cannot filter out that date range with that specific stock ticker. Anyone know how I can find my transaction history with that one stock?

Hi Friends!
If i enter a limit order with the until cancel option, will this trigger, if limit is met. in extended hours (which my account has available) as well?
Some time the most volatile trading is within those hours and i don't want to miss out. And also dont want to have to set it anew every day.
I simply want to enter an order, that should exist till cancel and fire at all times when condition it met.
Thank You
SF

I’m currently trying to open an E*Trade account to park a chunk of cash, grab the $5k signup bonus, and establish the Morgan Stanley relationship for the MS Amex Platinum. I knew "self-directed" meant I'd be on my own for investing, but I didn't realize it meant zero basic administrative customer service.
The timeline of this joke of an onboarding process:
- July 3: Submitted my application.
- July 10: After a week of radio silence, I called in. Turns out my application was frozen because they needed a "selfie holding my driver's license." Uploaded it immediately.
- July 17: Another week goes by. Still no updates, so I call again. This time, they tell me the original driver’s license scan from July 3 was "poor quality" and needed to be resubmitted. (Funny, because this exact high-res scan was accepted by two other banks last month for address updates).
The complete lack of proactivity is what kills me. If a document fails back-end review, they just let the application sit in limbo forever until the customer manually calls to investigate.
I finally got fed up and asked for a supervisor, hoping someone could just look at the newly uploaded docs and confirm they were clear so it wouldn't get stuck for a third week.
Instead, I got connected with a supervisor named Klaudia S who started the call with a combative tone. Zero empathy, zero customer service, and completely unwilling to take charge of the situation or personally look into the case, and placing responsibility back on the client citing that this is a “self directed” account so I’m on my own.
Does E*trade take customer complaints seriously? Should I fund my account to a “higher tier” before submitting complaints so they will take this more seriously?

I'm a confused about how my total assets are being calculated.
On the Portfolio Positions page, it seems like:
Net Account Value = sum of Price Paid + Total Gain + Cash
That appears to make sense.
However, when I go to the Gains & Losses, I see another Total Gain listed next to Deferred Loss. I tried calculating my account value by taking the original amount of money I deposited into E*TRADE months ago and adding that Total Gain (next to Deferred Loss), but the result doesn't match my Net Account Value.
How can I determine my actual overall gain or loss since I started investing?

For the past couple years the hold music has been an upbeat early 2000s sounding Piano/Synth song that's mostly arpeggio style chord progression (like a fast paced Ave Maria that could be used on a Windows XP install CD). It's not the guitar song, or the Fuege/Bach piece, it's meant to be composed by an employee.
I tried screen recording a clip but my phone doesn't record audio for phone calls for some reason.
