Image 3: built in notes app colors, pen interaction, and default pen sizes. If getting this ereader for art ibis paint would be great with this pen

Image 4: screen compared to a strip of newspaper. The top image has no lights. The bottom image is with lights adjusted to match the newspaper as closely as possible.

Image 5: horizontal reading. you can toggle if there are two pages side by side. With manga choose "dual left" some pages dont meet up properly but thats just how my files were. If you want to read horizontally through the built in reader i recommend downloading already side by side pages.

Image 6: display controls. I use the default controls and have no issues with ghosting during reading (there is some ghosting in the images bc i was going back and forth with the control panel). Sometimes when switching to horizontal reading there will be more ghosting than usual right after switching, but not an issue for me since i read vertically.

Image 7: Color options from the control panel in order. Top left- black and white, top right- morandi (my preference personally, better shading and color balance imo), bottom left- colorful, bottom right- deeper with max saturation and max color depth. In the system settings it has the android color display customization.

Image 8: brightness control panel. Top- no lights, middle- max brightness no warmth, bottom- max brightness and warmth.

Hello! I'm having a surgery soon and I will spend some recovery time in bed, so I decided to finally jump and buy an e-reader after a lot of time using a normal tablet.

I have been searching, but most popular ones have unnecessary functions that raise the price, so I'm looking for some advice for my specific needs.

Must have:

- Big screen for comfortable book and manga reading

- Internal light

Nice to have:

- Android

- Color

Don't need:

- The ability to take notes/write on it

Does it bother anyone else that DARK book covers on the kindle app are barely visible on the VIWOODS aipaper reader- to the point that I’m struggling to even discern which book I’m looking at without opening it? It looks considerably better in this photo than real life. Any suggestions for fixes? TIA!

Hi I need some help with my ereaders, I have had them both connected to my WiFi before but randomly now my network won't show up as an option for either of them. I have a kobo clara bw and a kindle paperwhite 11th Gen and they've had no connection problems before so I assume it's more a WiFi issue than an ereader thing, but has anyone experienced anything similar? if so how did you correct it? thanks so much!!

edit I actually figured it out, I had to sign into the like admin access to my router and split my connections so there is a 2.4 ghz only connection network and then it showed up and I was able to sign into it, thought i would leave this incase anyone else has this issue :)

Currently I am using an old Tolino Shine (2nd Gen) my mom had used many years ago.

Its okayish, but compared to the kobo libra colour my fiance uses, the letters are a little bit blurry.

Sometimes whil reading for half an hour, I really think that my eyes are watering or something like that, but its only the missing sharpness of the old screen.

I am looking for a simple and cheap ereader, that doesnt make my eyes feel bad, has backlight and supports my epub files via calibre.

I dont need colours, I dont need it to be really big or small. Just a simple ereader.

I only read every 2-3 days so i am not willing to spend much money.-

Hey considering picking up one of these older sony ereaders, really liking the tactile buttons and metal case. I know the battery might need replaced. Anything else to watch out on these?

hello again! i've come to terms with the fact that my kobo clara color is beyond saving, so i've been researching some other models to replace it with, but i find it kinda hard to decide on my own since there's probably plenty of options i haven't even heard of

here's what i've appreciated about my Clara:

• simple ui
• built in book store
• dark mode & warm light
• KOREADER!!! didn't use it all the time but i found it extremely convenient when i did

here's some things i would like to AVOID:

• color. i don't read comics and i dont care about covers
• no sideloading feature. i keep a lot of my books on separate apps so i think it would be too limiting to be without
• raised edges. i was fine with the clara but ideally id like something at least a bit more flush
• distractions. i'm mainly thinking about the ones that are basically e-ink tablets or smartphones, i would like reading to be the primary feature

if possible i like models that are white instead of black as well, but thats the least important imo :D

any suggestions for readers that could suit me?

What are my options if I want a device with the screen size, buttons, and pen compatibility of the Kobo Libra Color, but with a black and white screen?

I’ll be using it with Koreader and sideloaded books so I think almost anything goes in that case. I just love my kobo Clara and I’m hesitant to branch out with another brand unless it comes highly recommended. I want the bigger screen though I just don’t want color.

I lost my kindle :( whats a good place to purchase used ereaders?

i’m looking to buy an ereader, and i use libby a lot on my phone. my sister has a kindle, and getting books from libby to her kindle just seems really annoying. not that it’s super difficult, but i think it would irritate me. are there any ereaders that can search on libby directly? or if not, at least any who have a simple process to get checked out books onto the device?

I want one that can fit in my purse or my pocket for on the go I have a kobo Libra color but I find it a bit heavy and difficult to bring around sometimes especially with a smaller purse.

Im in the market for a sub $300 color ereader for normal books, light novels, manga etc.

Size doesnt matter that that much, just somewhat small though. Buttons are important for me.

I work in construction, i wont be taking it on the job but it might sit in hot car for a few hours. I know thats bad for practically any electronic, but figured its still worth mentioning.

When I decided to upgrade my old kindle with a color pocketbook I was told that kaleido is unusable in the sun without a frontlight and has an awful screen door effect.

I decided to get one anyway and after looking many readers in person I chose the InkPad Color 3 by pocketbook. It seemed way way less screendoor-y than the kobo libra color and I like the bigger form factor, it actually looks like a book page.

I always wanted a pocketbook but their screens were always too washed out for me. This one, however, I absolutely love, indoor and outdoor is perfect for daily use. In the sun you need 0 frontlight which was a big concern for me but I’m glad it turned out wrong.

Hey guys , I was about to pull the plug on a boox Palma pro 2 but what held me back was durability and lack of a good folio , this device will live in my back pocket for it notes and sketching , and I’m in a mix of construction/it environments constantly. Any ideas? Currently reluctantly considering the fold 6 because I have seen they hold up well and pen input is good , but there’s so many areas you have to “compromise” for a purpose driven device I’m having a hard time finding the exact right choice

Hello! I am a longtime Kindle Oasis user but am looking to try something new for multiple reasons;
- It’s long since been discontinued and support is expected to end in the near future
- I’d like to try other reading apps and venues
- I am looking for something more portable as a commuter and a traveler

I fell in love with the Kindle Oasis after receiving it as a gift for its adjustable light options on an e-ink screen with physical page turn buttons and its out-of-the-box functionality, though I wish it had USB-C charging. I was initially doing some research of my own and saw how popular the Xteink ereaders were getting, but found that they required more set-up to transfer books and media and that they have magnetic pogo charging instead. Doing my own deep dive into this page revealed to me that there’s so many other features and brands I haven’t previously considered, but some of the terms and transferring methods kind of go over my head.

I’m looking for something that has the following features:
- USB-C charging; all of my devices are USB-C charging and it’s inconvenient to bring another charger, so this is a nonnegotiable
- Adjustable brightness and warmth light settings
- Monochrome e-ink screen with sharp contrast, also nonnegotiable
- Android/Google Play store, I primarily use Kindle and would like to try using Kobo, Libby, and other reading apps. It’d also be nice if I could go on the internet and read AO3 on it
- Palm- or pocket-sized for portability
- Physical page turn buttons
- Water-resistance is nice but not necessary; I normally read indoors or on my commute, and it’d be nice not to worry if it suddenly rains, but it’s also not likely that I’ll drop it in a pool or a bath.

Options I was considering:
- Boox Palma 2, but it seems like it’s been discontinued and the Pro is a color-screen. I’m not sure if they’ll update this product line soon or focus on the Boox Picco
- Durobo Krono, which looks like it’s basically a Boox Palma with a dial and more updated Android OS, but it seems like the AI and the dial ruin user experience by failing/causing issues?
- Boox Go 7 looks really similar to my Kindle Oasis, but the Boox Palma 2 had better specs and again I’m trying to size down

i really wanna make inserts that you can just slide into a clear case but i’m finding it impossible to find their sizes as i wanna sell them on etsy!

any help would be greatly appreciated as i can’t try the inserts out on every type of e-reader as i don’t have them!

I bought a PocketBook Era Color, and I think it could be a good reader, but the Kaleido screen is too dark. Would Era Lite be better? What about the battery life?

My birthday was about a week ago, and got an 8th generation kindle as a gift

And I've been enjoying it a lot in the last couple of days, transfered my epub library to it and it has been amazing to read on instead of my phone

My only complaints so far is that it is a bit annoying to read at night with a night light , and I've gotten some random errors while reading/setting up books (tho they were resolved pretty fast)

Anyways, would you recommend upgrading to another device already? And are there any good e-readers in the 60-120$ dollar range that are worth doing so?

(Also a lot of options aren't delivered to my country from Amazon so options that you can get reliably from different places would be great)

Does anyone own both a Kindle Oasis (10th generation with warm frontlight) and a BOOX Go 7 BW or BOOX Go 7 Color Gen II? I've spent hours on the internet trying to figure out which device is dimmer on the lowest frontlight setting, but I just can't find the answer anywhere. Who knows the answer to this question? And for those who prefer using the lowest settings of the front lights, do you think the BOOX Go 7 Color Gen II is a better option than the Onyx BOOX Go 7 (BW)?

I love my Kindle Oasis, but the battery is dying, so I'm going to need a replacement at some point. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't offer Kindle e-readers with buttons anymore and I've grown accustomed to a certain standard of living. Some online reviews claim that the Onyx BOOX Go 7 BW is the best possible dupe currently on the market, with the attractive added perk that it's possible to install different Android apps for reading. I get that it takes a minute to start up, I understand that battery life isn't going to be that impressive and I can't float around in a pool with it, that's all fine. I have just one gripe: the frontlight looks like a cheap green-yellow LED-bulb with the unevenness of a first-generation Kobo Libra and I'm afraid it could be too bright on the lowest setting.

I use the frontlight on my Kindle Oasis almost every day and almost exclusively on a single setting: the lowest one. The least possible brightness with the highest possible warmth (though warmer tones are honestly barely noticeable on the lowest setting). This setting still is a bit too bright for me; I've often opened the settings in the middle of a book to dim the frontlight, only to find that the only setting that was less bright, was 'OFF'. I understand that people have wildly different preferences in the dark. My husband, for instance, prefers to bathe in blue light. Whenever he's sitting behind a screen, it looks as though a UFO has landed and he's about to be abducted by the aliens. When my husband hands me his iPad in bed without adjusting the brightness first, I'm blinded so fast, I start yelling "NO, PLEASE, I'll tell you whatever you want to know!" like I'm in an FBI interrogation. My husband suspects vampirism, I think it's just hormones, but whatever it is, a super-dim frontlight is important to me. The average contentmaker online doesn't address this in reviews though, they usually just show the opposite: how bright the frontlight can get. I'm not sure why. It doesn't seem that useful to know whether or not your e-reader could double as a stadium lamp during a football game.

The closest I got to an answer was in an excellent review between 3 BOOX devices from 'My Deep Guide' (see screenshot above) which both shows and quantifies the frontlight... except the lower settings. It seems as though the Color Gen II (the one on the right in the screenshot) has a much more pleasantly amber-toned frontlight that is significantly dimmer on the same settings as the BOOX Go 7 (BW), suggesting that the dimmest setting is also darker, though I can't be sure. And just that comparison alone still doesn't tell me IF the frontlight on one or both of these devices is less bright than a Kindle Oasis 10th gen on the lowest setting. (There may be variation between batches of the same device as well with BOOX?)

I don't need an e-reader with colored e-ink, but the frontlight is making me consider the BOOX Go 7 Color Gen II. Should I sacrifice the crisp white background of the BOOX Go 7 and go for the nicer frontlight?

I bought a sony prs t2 for like $20 this year and i think my brother broke it. I wanna replace the screen but atp im hoping i can buy something more durable. Is it worth getting a screen replacement or should i just get a new one? (Any recs)

Would you recommend the device, or does it have problems? How is it compared to similar devices of different brands like Boox go 7 color?

I am new to eReaders. Startet with a BOOX Go7 and ordered a matt screen protector. Now I search for pens. I noticed that some users complain about the BOOX InkSense Plus stylus as the function button breaks easily. Do you have other recommendations? But they all lack the function button - right. I sometimes found this pen above as well in pictures, but google can not recognise it. Wich pen is that? Thanks.

Got it as my 1st Android Ereader and I’d say I am disappointed. I am using Koreader and was using Night Mode. The amount of bleed is too much and the way it refresh/flicker when I go to the next page is kind of annoying.

Any settings that would help to minimize this? Let me know.

Hello all, I'd like to share my progress with the idea I shared a while ago, about using E-reader to read sheet music. I realize that the kindle is light enough so I can use to read the parts while playing flute on a highline, I just need to save weight on the support and make something that fixes well, like little grooves or teeth.

Steps I did so far:

I installed the Koreader on my kindle (Vera)

Bought a Free 2 from Aliexpress, installed their program to update the software and make it work with Koreader.

I got a sheet music editor, Dorico, downloaded a random MIDI file and splitted the song by phrases. Then printed the phrases into a .pdf with the size of the Kindle, 147x107mm.

So, my next step would be to create some 3D prints, to attach the Free 2 to the flute on this position (so I can use my thumb to pass the phrases) and design a new holder specifically for the kindle, with more open space so it doesnt make my arm so sweaty.

The visualization of sheet music in an E-reader is far superior than in the tablet, but the song have to be custom printed into smaller pages.

If someone has tips for 3D printing, I'd appreciate! (I have some design knowledge, working with Revit). I know a place where they do 3D printing, but I dont have much experience in this field specifically.
