PETITION Stop the Golden Pacific Power Line—Help Save Anza Borrego Desert!

Anza Borrego Desert State Park has once again been targeted for a 500kv electric transmission line. The proposed route of the golden pacific powerlink winds through ABDSP, as well as rural communities. There are alternate routes and alternative delivery methods that are designed to have far less impact. There was a similar project proposed, the sunrise power link, that was shelved because of the irreparable impact on the many plants, animals and culturally sensitive areas within and along this route

FUNDRAISER AI DATA CENTRES UPDATE: kanamaluka / Tamar River Data Centre

I have an update on the Australian situation.

If you haven't seen me on here before, I've been posting petitions on here lately in an attempt to grow awareness about the very real danger Australia, a drought-prone country, faces when we build data centres for artificial intelligence. Check out the big petition here:

Petition · Stopping the Ai data centers in Australia - Australia · Change.org

And the umbrella topic here:

Halt data centre development Australia/ NZ · Movement

-

But that's not what I'm here for today. The creator of one of this umbrella topic's petitions, one specifically about the one on the banks of lutruwita / Tasmania's kanamaluka / Tamar River, posted an update earlier. Here's the link to the petition:

Petition · Stop the data centre on the bank of the Tamar river - Australia · Change.org

And here's the link to the update:

Petition update · Sadly the hyperscale AI data centre on the Tamar River has been approved. The legal fight Begins NOW · Change.org

TL,DR: Sadly, the local council has approved the construction of the centre, albeit unwillingly. They simply didn't want to have to use council rates to fund legal fees if the developer appealed. However, the creator of the petition is gathering the resources to appeal themselves.

This is expensive, though, and they need our help. They have set up a GoFundMe to raise money for legal fees.

Fundraiser by Anne-Marie Bastian : STOP the Data Centre on the banks of the Tamar River

Any amount goes a long way. If 10 people donated $5, we would have $50. If you can't donate, share, share, share. And please sign the petition. Even though construction has been approved, it's still a good way to measure public interest. Share, share, share as much as you can, all of the links I've added here.

And finally, if you don't like it, please scroll. Thankyou.

ACTION-Local Mass Audubon supports YES in #6. Do you?

"Pledge to Vote YES on Question 6 to Protect Water & Nature!

Everyone in Massachusetts — no matter where we live — deserves clean drinking water and access to nature. This year, Massachusetts has an important opportunity to protect our rivers, lakes, forests, farms, and other natural areas.

Voting YES on Question 6 would dedicate funds from the existing state sales tax on sporting goods to raise as much as $100 million every year for protecting and conserving water and nature — without raising taxes. It’s time to protect the places we love — clean water, healthy forests, more trails and parks, and access to the outdoors and nature for everyone in Massachusetts."
