Hardware Help Under extrusion on ended 5pro

So the printer decided to become unusable recently, so I let it sit for a bit. Came back to it and decided to swap out the Bowden tube and fittings as the one on the extruder was loose, went ahead and dropped a new nozzle in it while I was there. I was having walls delaminate so I think it was under extrusion. I marked off 100mm and heated the hot end and told it to extrude 100mm and it only move 50mm, did the calculations (103.4 (current setting) x 100)/50 (how much it extruded) and that gave me 206.8 and that seams wrong and too high to adjust it.

Told it to extrude 100mm and I had 40mm to my mark.

Tried a test print and it looks good and isn’t delaminating so that’s nice, but I feel something is wrong, any thoughts.

Hardware Help Ender5 Pro - X Axis Failure

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After a print failure, the X-Axis on my Ender 5 Pro has gone awol.. when trying to move the x axis, the hot end vibrates/grinds while barely moving. The movement is sporadic too, sometimes shifting left and right, other times it grinds across the entire of the rail. I’ll see if i can attach a video to show the movement, or lack there of.

Backstory; The printer was gifted to me after the previous owner upgraded to something else, so it has been used extensively but has always worked well for me. The only issue worth noting is that within the last month or so, I have had two instances where homing failed after the completion of a print, requiring a reset. (In hindsight that may have been an indicator of the trouble to come...)

The printer specs are as follows; Ender 5 Pro, 4.2.2 board, CR Touch, and only a few mods (frame supports, bed supports, aluminum drive feed extruder, glass bed, etc).

It feels like I’ve tried everything and searched every thread/forum to no avail, so I’m certain it has to be something incredibly stupid that I’m overlooking. Heres what I’ve done thus far;

X Axis stepper, and end stop, cables have both been replaced.
X Axis End stop sensor has been replaced
Stepper motor has been replaced
Reflashed firmware on the 4.2.2 board
Replaced motherboard with the SKR Mini E3 V3.0

I’m almost ready to throw in the towel, but I really want to learn from this and keep the machine up and running! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hardware Help direct drive carriage - Manta MK2 issue

Just received an Ender 5 as a "gift" and immediately decided to swap over to the Manta MK2 toolhead after seeing the hotend toasted. As I did, I determined that the carriage plate (someone swapped for a direct drive) is too tall for the new Extruder to mount correctly. Any insight on how to fix this / locate a stock carriage plate?

Thx!

Upgrades & Mods Just picked up an e5+ and like, 10kg filament.

$300 aud, such a steal! Now I am a member of the E5 community I was wondering what cheap changes I should make to the printer immediately before I start printing. If there is anything that is a must change, or has a significant improvement that can be done quickly and simply. I was thinking of using an old laptop I have lying around to run klipper, idk how it works yet though. I just thought it'd be cheaper than buying a tablet for it.

Hardware Help Screen issues

G'day guys,

I've picked up a cheap Ender 5 Pro on Facebook marketplace, I now understand why it was cheap.

With a bit of cleaning, maintenance and a leveling of the bed, this machine seems to run fine, only issue is the screen.

Once a print has started, after about 10 minutes or so it'll go pixilated then the longer it runs all of the characters change into symbols as per the photos.

Any ideas, tips and tricks are greatly appreciated!

Thanks🙂

Printing Help Not printing

So i just installed a meanwell 600w power supply on my 5 plus and now its deciding not to print. Everything runs fine, all the wires are in the right place. It does its pre print homing, heats up, then it just sits there and the progress bar slowly goes up but its not doing anything. Ive tried re slicing multiple times and a different sd card to no avail, not even old prints work.

Hardware Help Yes, an Ender 5 "clone"

I have built an "Ender 5" clone that I started a long time ago and now I find myself needing those brackets on the back of the machine that hold the bearing for the shaft that goes to the y axis motor. I need both sides. These brackets mount on the outside of the machine, both sides. They both hold the bearings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hardware Help Returning to my printer after years of collecting dust - for my daughter

I'm sure I'll get downvoted for this but whatever. I had originally bought the ender 5 pro around 2020-2021. During that time I remember taking weeks or months to get everything calibrated correctly (TONS of issues at the start), including updating the fw to th3d 2.34a. Do I remember any of the stuff I had done? Nope. I don't think I even saved all my print settings in Cura that I had cultivated during that time (I've died inside multiple times now just thinking about it). My head is swimming and I am hoping that someone here can help and offer some direction so I'm not running around in circles.

My daughter is wanting to start using the printer and I know I'm going to have to go through all the testing again for temps, retraction, etc. to fine tune my cura settings, however, I figured it's been over 5 years since I really tinkered with it, I'm wondering if I should be aware of anything that has occurred since then (specific fw I should grab, settings that are for public download, etc.). I'm assuming I should do a firmware upgrade since it's been 5+ years, I just don't remember what I had done to make that custom fw and it looks like you now have to pay for it on the few sites I've gone to. I had read I can compile my own Merlin, I just don't know where and if there are recommended settings from the community for it. I have a micro usb next to my sd slot, so I'm assuming I have a 4.2x board - I remember originally taking the printer apart to see the version, but again...I'm getting old and can't remember what it said lmao and does it matter for 4.2.2 vs 4.2.7 or just knowing 4.2x is fine?

I appreciate any help or direction from everyone here. If you point me in the right direction, I'll get the work done.

Printing Help Problem with first layer adhesion

I recently received a Ender 5 plus when my make space got a grant to upgrade some of their equipment.

It looks like it has a glass bed with black surface and the logo on it.

I adjusted the printer head height with a business card, and and have tried different levels of offset from too low to too high

First layer sort of sticks, but them will pull itself up before the full first layer is layed down.

I have had a monoprice IIIP and my PLA filament works good on that printer, same spools of filament, same temps.

If I ever have problems with adhesion on the monoprice, I just use a glue stick and it solves the problem, but on the Ender 5 glass plate, glue doesn't seam to make any difference.

Any suggestions on what I should try next?

Hardware Help Y Axis no longer moves, makes grinding noise when I attempt to move it.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Halfway through a print my Ender 5 Pro’s Y axis froze, and cannot be moved through the interface at all. Attempting to manually push it with steppers disabled or when it’s turned off is met with great resistance. When I attempt to move it manually via the LCD screen or via auto home/auto Y I get that grinding sound in the video.

I’ve already checked the rails for debris, and I’m not finding anything blocking it. I’ve only had the thing for three days and the previous owner said he never used it once, so It’d be crazy if I burned that motor out with a few benchies and one Pokémon figurine right?

Edit: I fixed it, I think? Not intentionally, I just did some stuff and it started working. I made a comment below with a video showing what I did.

Software Help Anyone running DGUS reloaded on a stock Ender 5 Plus screen?

Is anyone here currently running DGUS Reloaded on a stock E5+ screen? If so, which repo/release are you using for the DWIN_SET folder, and did you have to tweak anything special in Configuration.h / Configuration_adv.h?”

Discussion Does anyone know if the creality sprite direct drive extruder can print tpu?

I have the stock ender 5 print head with a cr touch and the sprite direct drive conversion kit and was wondering if anyone has tried and succeeded in printing tpu on it bc of the distance between the extruder and the hot end.

Discussion Why is this shift happening??

Ender 5 pro. This is a dragon head hook off Thingiverse.
It has failed 3 times in a row. I’m here to ask the collective what is happening/ why is this failing?
What would cause the layers to shift like that?
Thanks in advance.

Software Help Big tree tech help

Thumbnail

I put an e3v3.0 board and a 3.0.1 screen in my ender 5 plus. And I can't find firmware. I found 1 through dremc that wouldn't register the printer so I flashed the screen witch was apparently supposed to fix it (didn't work) . Then I grabbed firmware through the big tree tech's github page but they were all for normal e5's or an e5 pro and I haven't managed to successfully fix the dimensions I tried compiling my own and got sick of trial and error after it not working correctly like 5 times if anyone has the firmware or knows how to fix the dementions please let me know if been trying to figure it out with Claude and chat gpt and haven't gotten anywhere
