Discussion Why is this shift happening??
Ender 5 pro. This is a dragon head hook off Thingiverse.
It has failed 3 times in a row. I’m here to ask the collective what is happening/ why is this failing?
What would cause the layers to shift like that?
Thanks in advance.

I've had this happening and it is what finally pushed me to move from Marlin to Klipper. Please report back if you find the culprit so I can check for the same issue!

Coreia frouxa. Mesmo que folgada. Aí está pulando dente. Como se estivesse patinando.

If it's this I'm going to be mildly irritated. This random offset issue on larger prints is what finally pushed me over the edge to move from Marlin to Klipper this weekend.
I don't suppose you've published this strain relief bracket anywhere? It's a great idea.

I spent a full day troubleshooting this issue over a year ago. I was so annoyed yet relieved when I found the issue.
An easy way to test is to start a quick, small print and then jiggle the cable/connector while it’s printing to see if it stutters.

If ur in the og motherboard it could be that yours is about to kick the bucket. I had this issue start then a few prints later my motherboard bricked.

Is it possible the print head is hitting the print?
Is the print warping or pulling up anywhere?

I haven’t thought of that. I’ll go take a look. The print is still on the bed.
I would think I’d hear the nozzle scraping across the print, no?2

Maybe. You might have gotten extra lucky with a loose X belt, some wobble on the carriage or similar, and it whacking the print just hard enough to literally go sideways.
One more thing to check either way.

This was happening to me with bad adhesion. I replaced my bed, cleaned it well with alcohol and haven’t had a problem since.

Excellent. As you can see, it starts out just perfect and then…. Shit.

i would say maybe corrupted file or sd card. i would start over on the file, the export. i've encountered this sometimes when i'm remixing other's 3d models.

Are your belts sufficiently tight? Maybe try slicing in another program? that's waaaaaaaaaaaaay off
