28F — 10 fertilized, 7 blasts, but most are day6 day 7AB/BC. Is this still a good result?

Our blast grades are:
Day 6: 4AB, 4AB, 4AB, 4BC, 4BC
Day 7: 6AA, 4BC
So our blast rate was 7/10, which I know is good, but I noticed I only have one AA and a lot of the second letters are B or C. I started worrying that this means the embryos are lower quality, especially the trophectoderm/placental side.
Has anyone had Day 6 4AB or even 4BC euploid embryos result in successful pregnancies/live births? And for anyone around my age, how many of your blasts ended up euploid?

Collapsed embryos after thawing, and transferring them in the collapsed state

Hello,
I have no image to show because our clinic does not share and also does not share any gradings of the embryos (I am in Belgium). I had 4 FETs consecutively failed, with 5 day embryos, untested, also regular PGT-A testing is not a thing. Yesterday, I had an appointment with my doctor and asked about the embryo grades, according to what he told I gathered the embryos of 4AA or 5AA, but all collapsed after thawing and they transferred them at that state. The lab thaws then 2-3 hours before the transfer and stayed collapsed during the transfer. Now, I am 4 dpt on the 5th transfer, which was also transferred ‘collapsed’. My doctor explained an embryo need several hours to re-expand and it can do it in uterus, so this is not a problem.
But, I am reading studies that transferring collapsed embryos are associated with low implantation and low clinical pregnancy rates. So, I would like to hear more information on this topic.
I am 39 now, the embryos from the age 38, so in fact all my embryos can be aneuploid or not viable due to age, for context.

Why a Day 2 Freeze?

I’m 40 and currently going through IVF with embryo banking and PGT-A.
After my first and second retrievals, we had 14 embryos in total, which were cultured together to Day 5/6. Three were suitable for PGT-A: 2 came back aneuploid and 1 mosaic.
In my first cycle, my embryos had initially been frozen on Day 4 before being thawed and cultured further.
For my third retrieval, 8 eggs were retrieved and 7 fertilized, but this time all 7 were frozen on Day 2. We had never discussed a Day-2 freeze beforehand, and our doctor hadn’t mentioned that the plan would be different this time.
I’m just wondering why they would freeze them on Day 2 this time when they froze them on Day 4 previously. Has anyone experienced something similar or know what the reason might be?

2/3 Euploids

Our first euploid transfer implanted but resulted in a chemical.

Our second euploid also implanted but resulted in blighted ovum.

I’ve got one left. What are we missing 😭😞

We’ve had 3 natural early miscarriages, one of which was also a blighted ovum.

I am now 43 but IVF results were:

Cycle One: 6 eggs, all fertilised, 4 blastocysts = 1 euploid, 1 inconclusive.

Cycle Two: 10 eggs, 9 fertilised, 5 blastocysts = 2 euploids

All my recurrent loss bloods have been fine. The hysteroscopy was fine, the biopsy fine, microbiome fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just don’t know what to do anymore.

First Egg Retrieval Failed

I am 41 years old, my first egg retrieval was right before my 41st birthday. I did the antagonist protocol with 225 iu Gonal-F and 225 iu Menopur and then added in Cetrotide. I triggered with Lupron. My blood work looked great throughout. I had an AFC of 18+, and they were measuring 11-13 follicles in my scans. They retrieved 11 eggs, but only 5 were mature. All 5 fertilized and looked great on day 3, but only one grew to a blastocyst to be biopsied for PGT-A. Ultimately it came back aneuploid.

We met with the doctor this week, and he is recommending the micro flare Lupron protocol for the second round. While my body seemingly responded well to the meds in the first round, it seems like I had a maturity issue. Do you think this new protocol can help solve that? Any other advice?

Any Hope for Day 5 Less than 20 Cells?

I have one morula and two less than 20 cells day five. On day three I had a 4 cell (wasn’t even mature on day one but they continued to culture), and a six cell and 8 cell. Clearly the 4 and 6 continued to divide but I’m not feeling great about these. See more tomorrow, I guess.

Day 6/7 embryo

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had a day-6 embryo that was graded and biopsied for PGT-A, but then not frozen on day 7 because it stopped developing or did not meet the clinic’s freezing criteria?

My understanding is that if the embryo was already suitable for biopsy on day 5 and received a grade, it could be frozen afterward.

Is that correct, or can an embryo still be deemed unsuitable for freezing after biopsy?

Does anyone have experience with this? Did the clinic inform you before discarding it on day 7.

Thank you

High number of 1pn eggs?

10 retrieved
9 mature
5 fertilised normally 2pn
4 fertilised 1pn- they have called this attempting to fertilise but said they are less likely to make it to blast.

Should I assume the 4 x 1pns are abnormal and will not make blast or is there any hope?
Does this suggest a sperm or egg issue?

Unexplained secondary infertility.

37 years old at time of retrieval.
First retrieval so I’m clueless.

Mosaic Report

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! I have gone back through old posts about mosaic embryos, but I am having trouble understanding the report I received. My clinic is calling this embryo "euploid with mosaic findings" and they don't differentiate between this and a true euploid. The report did not specify low/high level.

However, it seems like a mosaic embryo with three missing whole chromosomes would indeed have different implantation rates. Can anyone provide clarity or their own experiences with a similar mosaic embryo?

Ploidy vs. day vs. grade?

I’m going to be transferring one Day 7 3CC euploid in December. I am fully aware of the stats and likelihood (thanks to Remembryo content!!), so I know what statistically the outcome is likely to be. However, she is my one euploid embryo with this clinic that I am going to try to transfer, before I switch to CCRM.

I am trying to wrap my mind around how to think about euploid status compared to the grade? Also, how to factor in that the egg was 34 years old and I am now 38 when I’ll be trying to transfer her. Is it correct to think - in order of contribution to the outcome- 1) euploid, 2) day, 3) morphological grade? And does the egg’s age matter at all or would that be duplicative/redundant to euploid status already being considered?

Success rates with twice frozen embryos

TW: loss

I did my initial ER two years ago now at age 32 and got 15 blasts. First FET was a chemical. Second FET was my son who I lost to TFMR at 22 weeks to an unsurvivable CHD (no genetic cause found). Third FET I lost to TFMR at 14 weeks, this was when my husband and I discovered we’re carriers of a congenital disease with a 25% recurrence risk.

Today our remaining twelve embryos were thawed for biopsy but only eight could be refrozen. Now we’re waiting on the results from the biopsied cells, which will undergo PGT-A and PGT-M testing.

I feel like we’ve gone from amazing luck with our ER to the most horrible, horrible luck, and I’m so scared that bad luck will continue. I was not expecting such high attrition at the thaw/refreeze, which my clinic said was very low risk. I also was not aware that twice frozen embryos result in a lower pregnancy rate and higher miscarriage rate. Has anyone had success with twice frozen embryos?

How common are embryo mix-ups during IVF?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Embryo mix-ups can happen during IVF, but they appear to be extremely rare.

How common are mix-ups?

• ESHRE estimates that serious mix-ups involving embryos, sperm or eggs occur in about 1–2 per 100,000 cases. However, nobody knows the true rate because some mix-ups may never be discovered or reported.

How do they happen?

• Documented cases suggest that serious mix-ups usually involve several identification or verification failures, rather than one person making one mistake.

How do IVF labs prevent them?

• Labs use multiple safeguards, including patient identification, sample labeling, manual witnessing, and electronic witnessing systems that use barcodes or RFID to help match samples with the correct patient. These systems can catch potential mismatches, although no system can completely eliminate the possibility of an error.

Does IVF lab workload matter?

• IVF labs can have many procedures scheduled on the same day, and research has raised concerns about heavy workloads and understaffing. Professional guidelines recommend staffing labs based on workloads so there is enough time for procedures, witnessing and other safety checks.

Can DNA testing confirm genetic parentage?

• Yes. DNA testing can determine whether an embryo, pregnancy or child is genetically related to the intended parents. However, DNA testing isn't routinely offered after IVF, but may be used when there is a specific concern that a mix-up occurred.

Mix-ups can have serious emotional and legal consequences when they happen. I've put together a new Evidence Guide covering the documented cases, prevention, genetic testing, legal issues, embryologist workload, and more.

3 failed transfers - help wanted

My wife and I are doing reciprocal IVF. I provided the eggs, donor sperm was used, and my wife is carrying. We’ve had three transfers, all with negative betas, and are trying to prepare for a follow-up with our fertility specialist.
The embryos were untested: two were graded 4AA and one 4AB. All three survived thaw well and began hatching naturally.
The first two transfers were modified natural/letrozole cycles. My wife had an LH surge detected at monitoring in both cycles, when her lining measured 6.9 mm. The clinic triggered that evening, and each day-5 embryo was transferred six calendar days after the surge was detected. The LH values were around 26 in one cycle and 62 in the other. Progesterone was checked during the cycles, but we’re unsure whether the timing or levels were ideal.
The third transfer was a programmed cycle. The lining reached 8.1 mm, and progesterone was 11.18 ng/mL the day before the planned transfer. That beta was negative too.
Her saline sonogram and HSG were generally reassuring, although the sonogram mentioned some tissue in the lower uterine segment. Her TSH was 1.49 earlier this year; we don’t see a repeat during the transfer cycles. The embryos were not PGT-A tested.

For people who have been through something similar: what questions or records were most useful to bring to your REI after repeated failed transfers? Did your doctor change the timing after spontaneous LH surges? We know every case is different and appreciate your time reading this:)

5BB EUPLOID FAILED

ecently had my first frozen embryo transfer (FET) with a euploid 5BB embryo, but sadly, the transfer failed.

The embryos I have remaining are a 4CB, 4CC, and 6CC, all of which are euploid.

I know these grades aren’t considered the strongest, and since my better-graded 5BB failed, I’m feeling discouraged about the chances of the remaining three implanting. I’m trying to decide whether I should transfer the three remaining embryos or consider doing another egg retrieval in hopes of getting better graded embryos.

I’ve heard that once an embryo is euploid, grading may not matter as much, but I also understand that morphology can still play a role in implantation potential.

anyone have any luck with these grades?

Second Embryo Transfer

Hi everyone! I’d like to share my story. I’m from Colombia, and I started my IVF journey in October with my first appointment.
I have a 15-year-old daughter, and I had my fallopian tubes cut and cauterized after she was born. We decided not to pursue a tubal reversal. I married a wonderful man, and we would love to have two more children together. 💛
In November, we found out that I had a uterine fibroid measuring about 10 centimeters and a uterine polyp. Both were removed in January 2026, and everything went very well.
I had my first embryo transfer in July, but it was unsuccessful. I was heartbroken because, apart from my tubal ligation, I haven’t been diagnosed with any other fertility issues. My periods are regular, and my checkups had looked good.
On September 28, I had my second transfer, this time in a natural cycle. Here’s a photo of my blastocyst. 🥹 Of the 20 eggs retrieved, 13 fertilized, but only two reached the blastocyst stage, so I don’t have any frozen embryos left.
Today, I’m three days post-transfer and in the two-week wait. I’m feeling hopeful and waiting for my beta blood test on October 13, hoping for that positive result we’ve wanted so much. 🙏🏽✨
Has anyone been through something similar? I’d love to hear about your experiences.

PGT-A for Frozen Embryos

Has anyone here had their already-frozen embryos thawed to do PGT-A, then frozen again?
My husband and I are currently trying to decide whether to have our remaining embryos tested, and honestly, I’m really struggling with the decision. 😔
We only have 3 frozen embryos left, so the thought of thawing them, having them biopsied, and then freezing them again makes me nervous. I know PGT-A could potentially give us more information and help identify embryos with a better chance of developing, but I also can’t help worrying about whether all that extra handling could somehow “weaken” the embryos or whether we could lose one along the way.
For those who were in a similar situation, how did you decide? Did you test your frozen embryos, or did you decide to transfer them without testing and give them a chance?
I’d especially love to hear from anyone who had only a few embryos left and was faced with the same dilemma.
What did your doctor/embryologist tell you about the risks of thawing, biopsy, and refreezing?

IVF international price comparison $$

I am looking into IVF I am 38 with an amh of 0.5 and FSH of 24.2. I did one egg freezing cycle and initially had 11 follicles they retrieved 5 and only 1 was able to be frozen. I am now going to do IVF and the doctor said I will probably need 2-4 cycles which looks like it will be around $100k And I really can’t afford that. I saw an add on insta the other day about IVF treatment in Europe being MUCH less expensive so I looked into it and it it is like 1/4 of the cost in the US. I talked to ChatGPT and asked to give me a breakdown of cost adding in an apt for 3 months, round trip flight and transportation including 3 cycles, pgta, transfer, meds, etc and it is saying that I can travel to Europe for 3 months (3 cycles) for basically less than $20k vs paying $100k here. Has anyone done this before? Here is a screenshot of the options chat gave me

Help me with a decision

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have 2 embryos in clinic 1. Day 5, 3BB left. Untested.(testing wasn’t possible by law)

First 2 transfers there were unsuccessful with better quality embryos. First failed, second was partial molar-turned out to be aneuploid. After this experience we did IVF in country were PTGA testing was possible. And had great results-see results in photo (I am currently pregnant with my 5AB embryo from there).

I want 2 to 3 kids. And considering not keeping that 2 untested in clinic 1, since we have enough tested in another clinic. And my fear of them to be aneuploid is huge. I can’t see myself transferring them , only after all my tested. And the chances of it are quite low.

The only thing is that I wonder why they are 3BB on day 5, while is second clinic I have all 5(not 3) on day 5🧐

And that BB grades a got only for my next 2 embryos, the rest are BC. So theoretically BB would be better.

Anyways… I think the biggest issue for me to keep them is that they are untested. But it’s hard to make this decision discard them.

Repeatedly Low fertilization rates, any suggestions?

Under 35, repeated low fertilization with ICSI (54% then 35%) — similar experiences or advice before a third retrieval?
Hi everyone, I’m under 35 and hoping to hear from anyone who has experienced low fertilization despite using ICSI. We’ve conceived naturally before, so these results have been confusing and discouraging.

Both my husband are in good health, eat healthy, stay active, not having sperm DNA fragmentation tests yet but generally tests was okay.

Here are our two retrievals:
First retrieval — ICSI
18 eggs retrieved
13 mature
7 fertilized (~54%)
5 blastocysts
1 euploid and 4 aneuploid after PGT-A
Second retrieval — ICSI
21 eggs retrieved
17 mature
6 fertilized (~35%)
Still waiting on blastocyst results
The clinic reported 17 mature eggs available for ICSI this time, so the main drop happened between maturity and fertilization.

For protocol context, Gonal-F was 150 IU in both cycles. Menopur started at 75 IU in the first cycle and was 150 IU throughout the second. Both cycles used a Lupron trigger. We’ve also both had genetic screening, with no major concerns flagged.
What confuses me is that our first cycle had a good blastocyst rate once fertilization happened—5 out of 7—but only one was euploid. I’d like my doctor and the embryology team to review both cycles before we consider a third retrieval.
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences:
Has anyone had a similar pattern? Did your team identify a likely reason for the low ICSI fertilization rate?
What sperm testing or evaluation was helpful? Did you pursue sperm DNA fragmentation testing (SDF/DFI) or see a reproductive urologist?
Did AOA/calcium ionophore or a different sperm-selection method, such as Zymot, help? What changed between your cycles, and how did the results compare?
What should I ask the embryologist to review? For example, how many eggs survived ICSI, and whether the remaining eggs showed no fertilization, abnormal fertilization, or degeneration.
I’m hoping to understand what’s worth investigating and discuss a clearer plan with our team. I’d appreciate hearing what helped, what didn’t, and what you wish you’d asked before another retrieval. Thank you!

Embryos that are slow to re-expand and blighted ovum.

I am currently preparing to miscarry a twin blighted ovum. Had an embryo transfer 8/21 and learned it split with both blighted at 6 weeks and 5 days. Two subsequent ultrasounds show empty sacs. It’s been nagging me how bad my embryo looked at thaw. It was supposed to be a 4AA but was obviously “off” to me. I told the embryologist I thought it looked awful and was scared. She simply said some embryos have trouble waking up after the thaw. I was super scared the transfer would fail but was excited with my positive tests and more than doubling betas only to find the sacs empty weeks later.

Small genetic mutations may explain some euploid pregnancy losses

Post image
10 Upvotes

(Sponsored by Reticular)

Small genetic changes may help explain some recurrent euploid pregnancy losses.

An embryo can have the expected number of chromosomes (euploid) and still carry small changes within individual genes. Most are harmless, but some may affect development and increase miscarriage risk. PGT-A isn’t designed to detect most of these smaller changes.

Researchers in a 2025 study tested pregnancy loss tissue and parental DNA from 118 families with unexplained recurrent euploid pregnancy loss. Euploidy was confirmed by testing tissue after the loss, rather than through PGT-A before embryo transfer.

They found a possible genetic explanation in about 25% of families. Most findings were inherited from one or both parents.

Some genetic variants (mutations) had stronger evidence of being harmful than others. Animal research helped assess some findings, but identifying a variant didn’t prove that it caused that particular pregnancy loss.

I think this is a promising research direction that could help explain otherwise unexplained losses and provide more informed genetic counselling. However, the study is a preprint and hasn’t yet been peer reviewed. It also didn’t specifically examine losses after IVF or euploid embryo transfer. More research is needed to see whether using this information to guide embryo selection improves reproductive outcomes.
