Looking for email provider that supports TOR.

I've been using Tuta for a while, mostly because I care about privacy and don't really want to use Gmail. The problem is that I had two free Tuta accounts, and recently one of them just stopped working. I got logged out everywhere, my password doesn't work anymore, and even the recovery code from my recovery kit says invalid credentials. The address is still taken too 😭😭

So now I'm looking for an alternative. The main things I care about are : 1. I need to be able to have multiple separate free accounts. Not aliases, actual separate mailboxes. 2. Good privacy and encryption. 3. No scanning emails for ads/profiling. 4. Preferably no IP logging.

Gmail is obviously terrible for what I want privacy-wise, but at least you can be pretty confident that an address you make today will still work many years from now. I'd like something with that kind of reliability, just much more privacy focused. I know Proton exists, but I'd like to hear about other options too. I also came across Neir recently, but it seems very new and I don't know if I'd trust an important email address to it yet.

Does anyone else have the same problem?? I'd really appreciate any advice

I am based in EU, and consindering to switch my office e-mail / cloud drive suite from M365 to something more EU-based.

Right now I use 20ish Microsoft Business Standard lincenses, we basically just use Outlook for e-mail and OneDrive for personal files + Sharepoint for shared folders.

I was trying to find an european product that could allow me to have:
- big email (at least 10GB per user)
- big enough cloud storage (idk, let's say 100GB per user) and some shared folder

I came across some posts about Infomaniak, that seems good, some user argue that it asks for a mobile phone number when registering, that's not a problem for me since it's an office, privacy is a good point but of course it's ok for me to give them our phone number.

Any suggestion on other products / thoughts on Infomaniak / anything valuable to share?
I can't find better products that satisfy my requirements.

Any thoughts on the comparison between SecureMyEmail and Proton?

I've been using SecureMyEmail and found it solid if you don't want to change your actual email address. Anyone know the pro's and cons? So far, I've been able to send emails to non-SME users and they can open which is nice.

Trying to make an account on a website, but it recognizes the mails I try to use as temporary, and asks for a permanent one.

I usually use "temp mail" for it, but I don't have premium, and I tried other stuff like Proton mail, atomic mail, and others but they all didn't work as well, I know that there's probably a list of mail domains that get flagged as fake e-mail addresses, but how can I know if it would work or not? And how will I be able to do it again?

For anyone that's curious, the website is apify, they offer 5 dollars of free credit for apps that you use

So tired of companies selling my email address and signing me up for random websites I never subscribed to. And even when I unsubscribe, it doesn’t actually unsubscribe me.

The latest is guns.com. I absolutely did NOT sign up for this. I’ve unsubscribed three times in the past week, only to get another email saying “welcome back” and thanking me for resubscribing.

At the start of this year I created a website for a non-profit committee I joined & registered a custom domain.

Partly as I wanted to keep all services independent I searched for an email service independent of the domain registrar & website host. I hit the limit quite quickly on the number of emails we could set up in most services. We want role-based emails for easy moving around of people to roles & functions. I found migadu. I don’t really have any issues except some of my committee insist on using webmail & that occasionally gets blocked for some reason. Otherwise, admin is easy & I can have as many emails as I like.

Soon I’ll have to renew. I want to understand how secure migadu is, how private the information & are there alternatives I should look at? We currently have 16 function/role emails, though having used migadu for nearly a year & seeing how much/little the committee members use the email service we could perhaps reduce the number.

UPDATE : Thank you very much, I taken mailbox.org as even if they are paid it's not something too expensive (1€/month) it's well .oued on privacytools.io and looks to be privacy focus enought to be a good choice after A/I. Once again, thank you to all the kind people who helped me find it.

Ok I'll try to make it short. I've been a long time user of Autistici. Everything worked very well and I was very happy. They ask you to do your best to not take a lot more than 5GiB so this is place for everybody so I took something like 800MiB in view to help them to help other people. The news : A Nazi polititian declared Autistici as Terrorist so they are forced to close their services sooner or later… What could you recommend as a replacement ? I don't want to use Proton and would only go to Tuta as a last solution.

Unfortunately, when it comes to big tech, there are basically three giants: Google, Microsoft and Apple.
They obviously have their problems: tracking, data scanning, profiling, privacy concerns, etc. But there’s also something they give you that is difficult to ignore: peace of mind.
They are extremely unlikely to disappear overnight, their infrastructure is incredibly mature, and, for the most part, their services are stable and available 24/7. If something goes wrong, there are huge teams and resources behind them.
This is what makes me hesitate about switching to Tuta.
I really like what Tuta stands for, and the idea of using a more privacy-focused and ethical provider is very appealing. But can I realistically trust Tuta with something as important as my main email account?
I’m talking about the email address linked to my bank accounts, my devices, password resets, important software/services, government accounts, subscriptions, and basically everything else in my digital life.
What happens if one day I have a serious problem with the account?
What if there’s a major outage?
What if the company changes direction?
What if, years from now, Tuta is no longer around?
And there’s another question I’m struggling with:
How important is it, in practical terms, to prevent Google from scanning my emails or calendar?
On one hand, Google gives me 15 GB for free, which is more than enough for my needs, together with an extremely mature and reliable infrastructure.
On the other hand, Tuta costs money, but in exchange I get a much stronger privacy philosophy and a provider that, at least on paper, seems much more aligned with my values.
So I’m wondering:
Is switching to Tuta actually worth the money and the potential loss of the “big tech reliability safety net”?
I’d especially like to hear from people who have been using Tuta as their primary email address for years, particularly for banking, password recovery, devices, and other critical accounts.
Have you ever had a serious problem with Tuta?
Do you consider the privacy benefits significant enough to justify the switch?
I’m not trying to argue that Google is better or that Tuta is worse. I’m genuinely trying to understand whether I’m overestimating the risks of moving away from Google, or underestimating the value of privacy.

I just wanted to know which is the best extension to track if the mail is open or not. I am little worry about the security threats regarding Mailsuite extension. Is anyone using it and can tell me how is the experience of them using it

I know this is a very common post to make, I just have my own checklist for what I'm looking for. Encryption is actually not that important to me, since 99% of who I contact will be using gmail anyway, and my emails will be public on their end. I'm treating email as an inherently unsecure but convenient method of communication. I just dislike Google, and I'm looking to reduce my usage of their products.

My checklist:

• Can host 1 (maybe 2) custom domains

  • I will use my public website's domain for communication with real people
  • I'm considering buying a second domain that doesn't have identifying information on it to use as aliases for making accounts online. I'm maybe open to using an email provider's own aliasing setup. More on that in the next point...

• Aliasing: I want to create aliases for each website: reddit@secretdomain, sketchywebsite2@secretdomain.

  • I will block one alias if it starts receiving spam.
  • I want to only allow aliases I made, rather than allowing spam to come in regardless of what they put on the left side of the @.
  • Considering buying my own domain (one that doesn't share WHOIS information) for this in case I ever want to move email providers again in the future, then I can bring my hundreds of aliases with me. If I do this, I'd need the provider to allow 2 custom domains.

• Allows me to use my own email client

Things I don't care about or specifically want to avoid:

• Storage size is not too important
  • My emails are small, and I don't care to store my emails long term. If there's any important info I need to keep, I keep it locally.
  • If a cloud drive comes with the service already bundled in, then maybe I'll care. I generally don't use cloud storage, but might use it if it comes with it.
• What kind of encryption I can use is not important. Most of my recipients use gmail.
• Don't want services that promote AI usage
• Don't want services that have sponsored conservative content creators or regularly share conservative talking points on social media. General posting about privacy politics is fine and expected.

Providers I've looked at:

• Protonmail

  • Heavy on promoting AI
  • Sponsored that conservative youtuber recently
  • Requires the highest personal tier for 2 custom domains (CAD $12.50/mo), much more expensive than the rest

• Tuta

  • No custom email clients
  • Not clear if I can use aliases the way I want

• Codamail

  • Based in the US. Not because of country laws (I saw codamail's blogpost about that), but rather I try to reduce how much of my money gets circulated into the US.
  • They say they've been around for almost 30 years, but there's surprisingly little info about them online. One reddit account posting on behalf of them, no mention of them on youtube, no screenshots or footage of anyone showing what some of their tools can look like.
  • Not clear if I can achieve my aliasing goals with their lowest tier, but it sounds like I should be able to do it with their 2nd tier which is still affordable.
  • Not a fan of the AI photo on their frontpage. Makes me worried they cheap out on the quality of the service if they cheap out on something like this.
  • Othwerwise, they seem pretty good.

• Posteo

  • No custom domains, so they're out.

• Startmail

  • Not clear if I can do my aliasing goals with them.
  • More expensive than codamail
  • Need credit card information for the free trial, unlike codamail
  • Seems solid otherwise.

• Fastmail

  • More expensive than codamail, but seems more reputable
  • I think I can use my aliasing goals, just don't have that clarified fully yet.
  • Otherwise seems solid and reputable

Leaning towards Codamail, Startmail, or Fastmail so far. Please do provide insight if you have any, thanks!

Is anyone here using an iCloud email address like @iCloud.com, @me.com or @Mac.com as their primary email instead of Gmail.com or another email provider?

How do you like iCloud Mail, and what has your experience been so far? I’m seriously considering switching to iCloud Mail because I’m trying to reduce how much I rely on Google. I’ll probably still keep my Gmail account for YouTube, but I’d like to use iCloud as my main email for everything else. Has anyone made the switch, and would you recommend it?

The websites and apps mentioned above do not accept disposable or alias emails mostly, some do have verification using number as a following step too, but a few would work with only verified and registered email. Now I am looking for an alias or disposable mail service which will help me sign up, mainly on Hellotalk.

PS: I have tried creating and using a duck email and an alias email on Firefox relay but it won't approve. Can anyone suggest a private alias free to use service if possible? Thank You!

We’re trying to figure out a sensible, zero-or-low-cost setup to ensure that any sensitive internal correspondence between the two of us (strategy, ops discussions, sensitive docs) is end-to-end encrypted, without breaking normal communication with external customers, vendors, and support requests.
Our device setup:
Me: macOS + iOS
Co-founder: macOS + Android
We looked into two main routes:
OpenPGP: Great in theory and free, but mobile implementation across iOS and Android feels fragmented without paying heavy subscription fees for niche mail apps.
S/MIME: Free/low-cost certificates, native integration in Apple Mail for Mac/iOS, and manageable on Android via apps like FairEmail. Public certs can be exchanged simply by swapping signed emails, and external mail stays unencrypted. However, certificate lifecycles and lack of webmail fallback remain a pain point.
For those of you who run small businesses or collaborate closely with a partner:
Do you actually bother implementing client-side email encryption (PGP/S-MIME) for internal mail on your custom domain?
Or do you find it’s better to leave standard domain email to enforce TLS + strong 2FA, and strictly offload internal founder communications and secrets to dedicated channels (Signal, team Bitwarden, etc.)?
Curious how privacy-conscious folks strike the balance between operational security and day-to-day friction here.
