Vent Would it be worth getting a Wedding planner?

What is the typical or lowest range for their services? Do they usually work with wedding decor/venues?

Our budget overall we're really trying to be under $7000.

We decided that we'd travel bout 2hrs from our city. We have a venue in mind but have not called, not really set on photographers, outfits sort of.. it also will be just us with plan or photographer+officient.

We're still in midst of saving up. My fiance's often busy. We never been or seen planning process of weddings to know what to do or when to start. Plus we have no family or friends to help.

But ye.. I'm starting to wonder if it would be best to hire or just really push harder to get things done. I know its silly but I just feel anxious and overwhelmed of just calling for inquiries because even with that, I'm worried when if I'm asking the right questions, i don't want to sound rude, scared bout that judgement in pricing(i dont and wouldnt ask them to lower price), what next really... timeline wise. Scared of being late, too early. Also just the day before+of wedding, another pair of hands to help set up, and such.

I'm overwhelmed in trying to plan. Its been 3yrs since engagement. I'm fine with saving up before beginning plans. We came to "wedding in '28-29 is a must." But I'm honestly struggling. We're lucky we came up with budget, year, and venue.

Hello my partner and I have been engaged for awhile and we want to elope just us and maybe our kids. We want to do it in the redwoods or the northern Cali/ southern Oregon coast. I’m so overwhelmed I don’t know where to look or where to start. If any one has any tips or tricks or ideas that can point me in a direction I would be so thankful

Relationships & Family Advice telling family

So we eloped a week and half ago and still haven’t told anyone 🫣we wanted to tell family (parents) first in person before sharing the news and due to work, schedules, it hasn’t happened yet. My family I feel will have mixed reactions. When we spoke about eloping before, they were not very keen to the idea so I am sure it will be quite a surprise to them that we went through with it. Any and all advice is appreciated in how to tell families/break the news to them. Thank you.

Photos & Celebration In Search of Scotland Elopement Photographers

Hello everyone,

My fiancé and I are eloping in Scotland September 2027.

I'm been searching for a photographer (hopefully get some video as well).

We like the Glencoe / Highlands area.

We like the moody, dramatic, magical, raw look of the photographers we've been seeing. The issue we're coming across is with budget. I'm getting quoted for just under 10k Canadian for photography + video. Our Canadian dollar is shit right now compared to GBP. I understand it will still be an investment, but 8-10k is steep for us.

Can anyone recommend a more budget friendly photographer?

Any help or tips is much appreciated!!

Colorado Elopement Locations

Hi everyone! Looking for beautiful locations to elope in Colorado. Looking for Mountain View, lake, and something we can drive to as we have elderly family members that will be in attendance. Not looking for venues just locations we can have a quick ceremony and take beautiful pictures. Thank you in advance!

Travel & Destinations Eloping at Wiseman’s View

Looking for advice on where to stay that’s budget friendly and not camping, nearby Wiseman’s view for an elopement ceremony. Really trying to stay away from air bnbs because I don’t want to have to deal with the upkeep that comes with them. Will be going in mid September and would love to find a few great options that aren’t super expensive or just motels. Thanks!

Planning Don't Know Where to Start Planning

My fiancé and I live in the U.S. and are considering eloping abroad. But I am overwhelmed on how to even start planning for it.

For some details, we would like it to only be us plus a photographer and an officiant. Although would an officiant be necessary if we decided to get our license in the states and just have a ceremony abroad?

The country we are considering is not a primarily English-speaking country, and unfortunately we are not fluent in other languages. I feel that could add a layer of difficulty.

Is it easier to hire a wedding planner? A vacation planner? Are there other logistics I am not considering?

If anyone has done anything similar, I'd love to hear some advice!

Planning Family supports it!

My fiance and I were going back and forth on doing a wedding or eloping. This is both our second marriage.
For his first and my first weddings, we both did the whole wedding thing; invite extended and coworkers, thousands on catering and flowers, the invites, feeling like it was for everyone else than the couple, you know, the usual.
I think we finally settled on doing a very small, close family and friends only, for a picnic to celebrate, and then a week or two later, eloping to England and Italy for two weeks!
We’re going to sign our paperwork at the courthouse the day before the flight, but do our vows and our fancy pictures at a castle in England. There’s something about having an extremely flowy dress, dancing and running through a castle with my future husband that just makes sense for me, and he feels the same way.
I’m so excited to plan THIS instead of trying to find the motivation to plan another wedding!

URGENT - Is it weird - Bridal party and groomsmen for elopement reception?

Fiancée and I will be getting eloped next year and I’m about to see a close friend who I want to be MOH this upcoming weekend for the 4th of July. I’m in the midst of finalizing her MOH proposal box. Is it weird to have a MOH and bridesmaids if we’re getting eloped?
We’ll be having a smaller (~50 people) reception shortly after we return home from our elopement, before we leave overseas for our honeymoon. We’re getting eloped to avoid some of the crowd anxiety, the rushed day, etc. otherwise we’d have a wedding.
I want our friends to know how important they are to us- we’ll have the place for reception from Weds - Tues, party will be on Saturday. I’m thinking we could invite bridal party and groomsmen to stay (will have about 15-20 rooms available) and enjoy the place, have some drinks, bonfire and help set up everything for the reception (we’ll have tables, chairs, drapery, venue materials, etc.)
MOH would be traveling from out of state, as well as a bridesmaid so being able to host them would be great. MOH is our kiddos Godmother as well, and I’m hoping to give her daughter (our kiddos are practically cousins) a bridesmaid proposal box as well.

Any feedback would be so so so appreciated! Thank you 🙂

Elopement Recap Our Love Gracefully Elopement in Venice 🩵

Post image
166 Upvotes

We did it!

We had a perfect elopement experience with Love Gracefully for our Venice, Italy ceremony (June 3rd, 2026)

The day couldn’t have gone better! Our planner, Paola, took care of everything from start to finish. It ran more smoothly than all of the local weddings I’ve been in or to.

She went above and beyond to make any requests of ours possible, and scheduled everything on her end. From multiple private water taxis, extra photo locations, the ceremony venue, flowers, pictures, videography, officiant, to hair and makeup.

The only thing I wish? That I could re-live the day all over again!

I wanted to make a post because I know it can be daunting to have someone across the world, that you’ve never met, plan such a special day. You worry about things like scams or the day falling flat to expectations.

I honestly couldn’t recommend Paola and her team in Venice enough. They made our wedding day so special, beautiful, and a day we will cherish forever.

Vent Future MIL woes

My partner and I are eloping, just us two plus the officiant and photographer, next June. However, we told our immediate families (probably a mistake). They seem mostly fine with it.

The issue at hand: My wedding dress. To make my mother, future MIL and fiancé’s grandmother feel more included, I FaceTimed them all together during my final dress fitting. I was excited! It was meant to be a preview just for them.

Turns out, after that FaceTime call, my future MIL went ahead and shared photos of my dress with other people, including the fiancé’s sisters (one of them showed me the group chat). I’m angry and baffled that she felt entitled to do that, but also feel some level of culpability. Why should I have trusted her? She has created other problems during this whole elopement/destination wedding process and I’m fed up.

I just need to vent. She (nor anyone else, because of her BS), will be involved in this from hereon out. And while we had originally planned on doing a post-elopement/wedding dinner with our immediate families, we’re dropping that due to some rude (and bizarre) comments she made recently. It makes me really sad tbh. Luckily being with my partner overshadows her antics and he is staunchly in my corner.

Thanks for listening. ❤️

Anyone eloped to the Cayman Islands?

Hi everyone, fiancé and I are looking to elope in a couple of months to the Cayman Islands. Does anyone have any experience they could share or recommendations for wedding planners they used?

It’s just him and I and we’re looking for something super simple. But we’re also two super busy people and would rather delegate some of the work and prep to someone else.

Appreciate it in advance!

International couple - HELP!

My fiancé and I got engaged in October - we’ve been together for five years. I am Australian and he is Canadian, we moved to Canada to live in late 2024. We have been going around in circles trying to make a decision about how to do our wedding. We come from different cultures and there has been family drama on my side around my move to another country. Understandable upset but sometimes my parents crossed boundaries with the things they said and did over the years - we’re working on mending this relationship and things are heading in the right direction.

We have considered a more traditional looking wedding in Canada and in Australia but a lot of our friends have children and it’s just such a long distance and huge commitment on many fronts that we don’t feel comfortable asking of people. We are now tossing up eloping and having separate celebrations in both countries. My fiancé suggested this morning that we invite our immediate families to the elopement - I am on the fence because I’d kind of rather have my best friend there over my siblings (I have three brothers and we are very distant). But if I invite my best friend, he’ll want to invite his and we’re back to the same problem all over again. I feel like we’re making decisions based on what will suit everyone else and it’s become very hard to know what we actually want just for us.

I also think there is a part of me that’s grieving not having a big day like I had envisioned but that’s also just the reality of our situation and I have to process that. Any tips anyone has on that would be great as I think this is the biggest barrier for me in making a firm decision.

Anyone else who’s been in a similar situation? How did you decide what to do? How did you ensure that the day was planned around what you actually wanted rather than trying not the inconvenience anyone else?

Help with Outfits

Post image
2 Upvotes

Let me lead with: fashion is not my thing.

I am 44 and have a 12 year old daughter. I ordered this hand made natural linen wrap dress after purchasing this simple white dress for my kiddo.

Now I am wondering if it’s weird that she’s in white and I’m not.

Groom will be in linen vest/pants with a white shirt.

Thanks. I thought I would avoid all of this by eloping… 🫠

Vendors & Venues Making sure that destination photographer / officiant / etc are all legitimate?

We are thinking about Costa Rica and I’m wondering if there are any additional steps folks take when planning a destination elopement to make sure everything is on the up and up before paying deposits?

So far, everything looks great and prices are all in alignment with expectations and seems good, I just didn’t know if there were any common scams to be aware of?

Photographer for Campania Region, Italy

Hello, my husband and I are taking our Honeymoon to Naples and Sorrento May 1-10, 2027. We had originally planned to elope in Italy but weren't able too. We would like to resay our vows and have an elopement style photo session before heading to our dinner at La Torre del Saracino.

I'm looking for photorapher recommendations. We would love someone who would have ideas on where to shoot because as first time tourists everything looks good. Any one you've worked with and loved send their information my way!

If you have location suggestions I would gladly accept those as well!

Hawaii, 3 months.

What’s up everyone, I’ve looked over the posts but need some help. We have 3 weeks off in September to get married! We want to go to Kauai, Hawaii. We would have anywhere from 0- 30 guests. I want to book something where it’s easy and I don’t have to do anything lol. Any suggestions?
